The animation is pretty bad...

I finally got around to watching Resurrection F in its entirety. It was all right... I'm curious to see what the TV show changes/adds/whatever but I'm still of the opinion that bringing back Frieza was really dumb. There was no build up, no tension and the new power-ups were just kind of there?

the movie felt like everyone was having a picnic while playing summer brawl games

a get together rather then a actual movie plot

Favorite part of RoF was when Vegeta starting to fight with Goku cause he kept hogging the battle, and then Frieza being dumbstruck by it and assuming Vegeta was on his side.

Yeah Frieza, the guy you enslaved, tortured, and killed is still loyal to you.

exactly... Freeza was the long lost acquaintance that stirred things a bit up but more so in a "hey I want to compete with you in a friendly game" then I am a evil threat

His army wasn't even a threat either, although I'm not sure how Piccolo was getting trounced by Shisami but then Gohan beats him in one punch? What?

These are all valid complaints. The fight sequences in the movie were amazingly well drawn and animated, though, and probably the most exciting Dragon Ball related animated fights to watch.

It's not like bringing Freeza back is inherently a dumb idea, and the movie actually touches upon a few cool ideas - what Freeza's galactic empire has been doing since he died, why Freeza was such a threat when there's so many more powerful people they've fought since, the fact that Freeza and his father knew about Buu and Beerus, Freeza reaching his potential, etc. But it falls sort of flat since it all lacks exposition and Freeza comes back looking like a golden amiibo:

Get that Deviantart shit out of here.

Still a fun movie. Loved how it brought back old cast members like Roshi and talked about Future Trunks again, and how even Jaco played a role, but it has problems. Another one being this:

from behind though

and a space laser isn't ki so you can't sense it

I mean Goku can easily get shot by a bullet from behind too.... or a arrow

or a really sharp spoon

I mean it fits his character. He's arrogant as shit

Weird how Frieza or King Kold never knew about Dabura, Yakon or even Kioshin. How does he know about Buu but not Kioshin. Wonder if Frieza knew about Babidi.

I hope it's jus treated as some short stop garlic jr. arc.

If you followed Toriyama's retcons from before Battle of Gods up to RoF, Buu apparently wasn't actually created by Bibidi. It's a being that existed since time immemorial, alternating in cycles of hibernation and destruction, and the only thing Bibidi did was partially controlling it. So, Freeza can know about Buu and not know anything about Babidi or his father.

Toriyama stopped giving those tidbits after RoF though, I guess because he's fully focused in Super and we'll get all retcons in the show itself from now on, like the true origin of the Namek balls here.

Dabra is a guy exclusive to Hell. Yakon is a monster from a planet that Freeza likely had not conquered yet. He only got stronger when there was light energy. The Kaioshin pretty much never intervene in the matters of the universe. They never saw Freeza as a universal threat. Babidi is the son of a wizard that died shortly after Majin Buu's release. He obviously hid for many years. The guy's not much of a fighter either. Freeza definitely knew about Buu through King Cold, but Buu was gone when Freeza was alive. For all Freeza knew, he was the current strongest being in the universe.

I still don't know how it's possible that Beerus doesn't know about Buu.

Buu's as old or maybe older than Beerus himself, he was practically his brother in arms with the destruction he wrought. Buu killed off nearly all of the Supreme Kais, Beerus' closest peers in the universe.

So let me get this straight...

Buu is weaker than his Buu Saga counterparts and so stupid that he almost got Earth destroyed in Battle of Gods... and now Goku wants him to take an intelligence test?

And Piccolo jobbed to a Freeza goon who was then one shotted by Gohan who then also jobbed... and Goku wants to choose Piccolo and Buu to go on the tournament instead of Gohan or another saiyan?

Also Bulma's sister (who I knew existed!) is still alive but never felt the need to get involved in any of the events of Dragonball or her own sister's birthday party and child birth? And who has instant contact with a space faring Police Alien but whom Bulma never thought to call for help when they had to go to Namek?

And the dragonballs were actually pieces of larger dragonballs the Nameks' swiped, though this doesn't explain how the Unnamed Namekian made them on Earth or how Dende remade them.

Did I get that all right? Because I know lol Toriyama and all but I want to make sure I got all these retcons in order here!

It's true, all of it.

Bulma's sister and Jaco are 100% retcons. The other stuff is just incredibly bad writing.

Ehh, this is more of a plot hole than a retcon. To me anyway. I'm probably thinking of it wrongly though

I think the mistake people are making is thinking family is close by default. Tights could just not give two shits about Bulma.

Guys, I'm just stoked Piccolo made the roster.

edit: the one thing GT did right was give Piccolo some hardy hardy dignity.

Would lol if universe 6 Saiyans are super Nappa and Raditz. We'd finally see official super saiyan versions of both of them. Does the mustache change color? What happens when Raditz goes SS3?

My problem with the Super manga skipping ahead is that we will be spoiled on stuff that would be way better to experience in animated form. I know that's how it was when Toriyama was doing the manga while Toei was adapting it, but Toyataro isn't Toriyama. I hope Toei won't be pressured to stay behind Toyataro's manga despite it being monthly.
