Dragons Dogma PC version early hands-on video

Soon as the Gameplay finally loaded in Cassardis I had a mini-stroke... Damn it looks gorgeous (relative to the Console version ofc), and so smooth.
Seems like most of the key important graphical options are there, and thankfully I'll be playing at 4K so FXAA being the only AA ain't a big deal.

This is without a doubt one of the easiest game purchases I'll ever have made in my entire life. I've already bought the game twice, and this is still $30 with absolutely 0 hesitation at all.

looks a bit dated :/
Yes but it plays better than every ARPG ever made.
Before Dragon's Dogma i never really liked RPGs however DD made me addicted to the genre even though i have yet to play a game that comes even close to DD but i accepted the fact that i played the best ARPG so i just need to tune down my expectations since then when i ever play a new ARPG game

Dark Arisen added more port crystals and made ferry-stones much cheaper though.

Dark Arisen added the Infinite Ferrystone, so you can warp to either the Cassardis or Gran Soren as much as you like without penalty. Then you obviously get Portcrystals which can also be warped to, and you can place them wherever you like. I'd recommend one near the Blue Moon Tower and another near the Drake at Devil's Grove (which is also close to a natural spring).

This is the last game using MT Framework, if we consider Marvel vs Capcom 3 as a lost cause.

i assume QLOC is making the port.

Who knows what is the future after that

The infinite one was a double dip bonus for us crazies who bought the game again for Dark Arisen. It was more about the basic price of the ferry stones being dropped to 10% of what they cost in the original and the addition of multiple port crystals plus a second permanent spot to Cassardis in addition to the one in Gran Soren.

OT: A buttery smooth Dragon's Dogma. 'tis a sight to behold.

If I hadn't already played the shit out of the PS3 version I'd be all over this, hell if you could transfer your last gen characters over I might be over it. Admittedly I spent way too much time grinding Bitterblack Isle and I went there way too soon so the main story stuff it was like I was in "god mode" with how OP my pawn and I were. Don't think I finished
Everfall
and only encountered an Ur Dragon once.

Yeah but in the original, you only had one crystal, at least until postgame, so it makes quite a big difference(in Dark Arisen you get 5). You get crystals in places that are pretty far and can use them there or position them differently.

FOV slider.. how is that not getting more love here?

my german friend said that in the video they said its not so good #Confused
well you can change the whole keyboard config as you wish. he says it is a little bit complicated to use the keyboard and mouse and you should prefer the gamepad. keyboard and mouse is not intuitive.

Do you mean the last game to use MT Framework or the last MT Framework game that hasn't been ported to PC? Because Resident Evil 4: UHD, Revelations 2, REmake HD, and RE:Zero HD are all using MT Framework.

Capcom/QLOC: where's my 10 years late Dead Rising 1 PC port?

Because while it is nice, FOV is less of an issue than on first person games.

tell that to Just Cause 3. I can't play that game for long periods of time without feeling sick :/.
FOV slider in ANY game is always appreciated

It's like the holy grail for a whole bunch of people.

It actually looks weird at 60fps. Maybe I just got so used to it on console.

LOOK DO YOU WANT THE GAME TO BE GOOD OR NOT?

Real talk, a lower framerate can often hide janky/jerky animations because your brain fills in the gaps, but I'd rather take fluidity and responsiveness over enforced suspension of disbelief

I'll finally get to play this game. I had a PS3 at the time but the god awful frame rate... After years of PC gaming I just couldn't do it. Looks like a nice port so far.

I hope it won't become GTA V 'benny hill sped up fake gamey' all over again before long.

Well, as ever, there's always the option to enforce the framerate to whatever you feel comfortable with.

Options are good :^)

edit: Can't believe a post that replied to me jacked the exact same smiley before I did. :^|

This and Vanquish are the two games I've wants on PC for 60fps alone since their launch.

This is a great time to be a PC gamer.

Wonder how far it can be downsampled on a 780ti

Hmm, yummy..

Man that post was a quality shitpost I remember it fondly. I wonder what people would say if it ran at 144fps.

60fps confirmed? a stable framerate is th eonly thing keeping DD from being one of the best ever

To me it already was up there with Morrowind and The Witcher 3, even with the crappy framerate, but it's so nice we don't have to endure it anymore. It's gonna be godly on PC.

I have never played this due to everyone's complaints with the console versions performance. This is a day one buy, I'm excited because I'll finally get to play this.

I can't wait to see how this performs at 4k. Hopefully modern hardware will be able to pull a steady 60.

Of course there are exceptions to that rule, but it affects far fewer people than a tight fov in a fps.

Options are never bad.

The only thing that bugs me about dragons dogma is how bland the art style is.

It's even more apparent with a higher resolution and framerate. although the game was developed in Japan, it's clear they were aiming for the western rpg audience : the game looks exactly like thousands of shitty fantasy wrpgs

They need to change the art style if they ever bother to make a sequel
