Dragons Dogma PC version early hands-on video

Nice to see this game get some love. Seriously, Souls/Bloodborne and Dragon's Dogma are the undisputed champs of ARPG combat. Coming off of Dark Souls, i had particular tastes, but i found this game to be just as good in a different, complimentary way.

If this version does well, i wonder if Capcom will invest in a sequel. Seeing the game now without the blurriness definitely reveals some visual flaws, but it nice to see 60 fps and higher resolution.

Dark Arisen added that. There is an item called a Ferrystone. You place Portcrystals in the world then you use a Ferrystone to teleport to them. Actually I'm not sure if Dark Arisen added it, may have always been there. Can't remember.
You could do that before DD:DA.

I will dip again to support this, never actually finished the game on PS3. Thought the game had it flaws but was still great

The only thing that bugs me about dragons dogma is how bland the art style is.

It's even more apparent with a higher resolution and framerate. although the game was developed in Japan, it's clear they were aiming for the western rpg audience : the game looks exactly like thousands of shitty fantasy wrpgs

They need to change the art style if they ever bother to make a sequel

I think the art style is great. It remembers me of Berserk sometimes. Very simple where it comes to show castles and wild nature (i love Gran Soren, it's a medieval burg that i'd like to visit), but also very dark and weird enough in other zones, like BB isle. Same thing for enemies and items. You go from normal/ordinary to weird/particular.

Are you calling Mercedes bland? I'LL FIND WHERE YOU LIVE!

I know what you mean :p

I want a mod that replaces the starting menu theme with the SilentRob version of the wind is pushing me. That would make me happy.

I really wish the post-game wasn't so . . . dark, that's the one reason I stopped playing it since it was just so depressing walking around the world at that point.

I do love this game though, but would be nice if the PC version had a "SHUTUP PAWNS!!" option.

The stuff in the video mentioned about medium to low end PCs and the requirements not being that high will definitely make me and some other people with non-High End PCs very happy.

If I remember correctly there was a bug that let you reset the sky to normal in post game. I assume it'll be moddable. There wasn't that much to do postgame in the main world though iirc, a few new sidequests but most of it took place in the Everfall and once Dark Arisen was added in Bitterblack Isle, so it didn't bother me much.

I've never played the original (exactly because of a possible PS4 or PC version) so I hope it will be a treat.

The game admittedly doesn't really drive you to explore the entire map, so there was plenty of map I was interested in just going to see. Not to mention that the enemy re-do in post game was interesting enough that I liked walking around and seeing what was new.

Like someone else said, this is the easiest PC game purchase I'll have made in a while. I actually got Dark Arisen with PS+ IGC so this will be the first time I've actually paid properly for the game anyway.

I still find the combat in DD far more engaging than anything I've played in the FFXV demo.

Where's my preorder button???

It may go live when the Winter Sale kicks off a la Metal Gear Rising and Dead Rising 3. That featured deals are no more doesn't mean it can't just among the first set of highlighted games.

The biggest issue this port is having is not being up for pre order.

Also, I really want them to keep making games on MT Framework =X

Use another engine for more graphical intensive games, but just keep making PS4 games on MT Capcpom. Like DMC5 and stuff.

I have never played this but I'm looking forward to doing so for the first time when it comes to PC. Been on my radar ever since I discovered how great Japanese action RPGs are when I played Dark Souls and Monster Hunter for the first time earlier this year.

While the menu shown in Gamestar's preview footage is in German, there is a mute Pawn option in there. Pawn chatter can be turned off so they won't randomly talk during traversal. They will talk when you speak to them though.

60fps Dragon's Dogma

It's really happening

And it's BEAUTIFUL

Gonna need a mod to scale those pawn subtitles way down, tho. I want to keep them on but they take sooo much space on the screen.

No rock left unturned.

Looks great! Can't wait for mid January.

Only bit of a downer is that it is really seems to be mostly just the Console version, so not even small (but important) changes were made like a Character save and Slot System..:(

Well, doesn't matter, I'm just hyped to finally play this at 60 (or 144) FPS and without Borders!

Did you ever play the original? Dragon's Dogma on consoles is straight up ugly (with the exception of the lighting system). This looks leaps and bounds better than the original.

Totally, and the console version was still a helluva game. Man I can't wait to see what modders bring to the table for this game.

Looks pretty standard for MT Framework games.
Yep, that's what I thought.

I hope the M/KB controls are as fantastic and responsive as LP2.

- no msaa =(
Not really a huge issue, it's a MT framework game. Just run it at 4k :p

MT Framework was such a great engine. I guess this is as good a game as any to be its PC swan song!
Absolutely. It's interesting how Capcom utterly failed to provide a productive in-house engine for this gen so far after doing so well with MT last gen.

Thank the gods for this pc release. I really liked what I played on 360 but couldn't stand the framerate and screen tearing.

At the time those videos showing off the spell effects impressed me quite a bit so I'd be interested to see how they look here, but yeah seeing it on my TV in person left me disappointed with all the IQ issues. In areas with tons of lighting effects it'll look pretty good I'm sure.

Is lack of MSAA an engine limitation with MT Frameworks? I've never seen a game using it that has anything other than FXAA or CSAA.

DMC4SE says it uses MSAA but idk.

This is a thing of beauty. For some time I thought we'd never see Dragon's Dogma running at a non nausea inducing framerate.

The engine is fucking magic.

Does MT Framework rely on mostly baked-in lighting though? I don't remember a lot of MT Framework games having that amazing of lighting.

How high do you think a 780ti could take it, an estimate ofc.

Looks like a solid quality port, as expected from Capcom. A midrange PC should be able to max it out graphically.
Maybe someone can modify the draw distance to increase it even further. But apart from that the game looks like a dream (come true).

I know what I'll be playing in January.

The Gamestar guy said he found the M/KB controls to be lacking and not intuitive and preferred the gamepad.

He also mentioned how the font didn't look great at the higher resolution, I wonder how it would look like in 4k.
