Batman v Superman - New Official Trailer

Trailer legit made movie look like another cashgrab potato superhero movie.

That's some Thor : Age of darkness level we're talking here.

They had my attention, now they have my contempt : 10 bucks saved, thank you Snyder.

Haha. I'm sure we will see you in the impressions thread after the movie is released.

Why name your movie batman VS. superman if you're going to SHOW they become friends to fight doomsday before the movie even comes out. It's just so stupid.

Because it's immediately obvious to anyone with even a passing familiarity with this kind of movie, hell, this kind of story, that that is exactly what would happen.

It was in the official synopsis released in June for the same reason. They didn't expect that anybody would be so credulous as to buy that this movie would end with one of Superman and Batman dying at the hands of the other .

I wonder how much Affleck and his writer friend changed.

So Doomsday is another 3rd act explosion fest. Let's see if Snyder has learned anything.

I don't think the action shown so far except Doomsday is Marvel/Man of Steel who cares what's happening level. Hopefully there is a bit of soul to it.

I, for one, was hoping Batman would ascend to leader of the JL while performing a euology over his fallen prey.

I agree the name of the movie is stupid, but at the same time it's not entirely inaccurate. A sizable portion of the film is dedicated to it. The fight scene looks like it will be pretty long (so far we've seen them standing over the batmobile, crashing through a warehouse window, and being tackled down a stair way), it's not like they meet up and immediately become friends.

The comparison between two recently released trailers is completely valid.

Comparisons in general between the two are completely valid.

This particular criticism is ridiculous because they're right, different reveals are done at different stages in the marketing cycle.

Afterwards, he eats Superman's heart in a ritual to gain his powers.

I wouldn't be surprised if they revealed Doomsday in the trailer to head off any potential Doomsday reveal by any number of their licensed products.

How is it ridiculous? Two different products at two different stages can be compared same as anything.

Yeah that bit was perfect. His behavior in his "wacky billionaire" persona didn't really work for me though. He comes off as insane there, too. Like he might as well be The Joker there.

I think he comes off as a guy trying to overcome his social anxieties by adopting an over-the-top extrovert persona. So it's Eisenberg acting as Lex acting as Social Lex. With possibly a wrinkle on top that he's deliberately awkward in an effort to sell people on the idea that he really is socially awkward privately, when really he's just psychotic.

How is it ridiculous?

Ridiculous might be the wrong word. Basically, comparing a first trailer two a second trailer under the criteria of "amount revealed" is essentially meaningless, because under those criteria first and second trailers have demonstrably different roles. They were always going to be different.

According to this thread, reading this

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

"spoils" the movie.

Don't most superhero movies have that 3rd act?

"Why are Superman and Batman fighting? Superman would vaporize him." now has become "Why are Superman and Batman befriending each other? I'VE BEEN LIED TO WITH FALSE ADVERTISING FUCK YOU WB."

Haven't actually seen the movie -> The trailer showed too much!

alternatively

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice followed by Justice League (2017) -> They're working together??? whaat?

Same boat, I guess there's just a lot of Batman only fans that wanted to have a power fantasy.

I hope this doesn't shock you too much but some of us thought it could also mean this movie is where the league members see each other for the first time, while batman and superman fight is still the main plot and that justice league movie is where they team up for the first time.

I'm interested in it because it's exactly the sort of storyline that never gets told in the film versions, yet it pops up in the comics constantly. And this being a medium built on thinly-veiled political mouthpiece characters literally from the beginning, it's an odd oversight.

I want to see things like Cyclops as an idealogue, Captain America as a political dissident, a borderline facist Batman, a liberal to a fault Green Arrow, and all the clashes they get into with their allies over it.

Superheroes getting together to fight a common threat has been done repeatedly since the first X-Men on the other hand.

Differences and conflict between the two characters is obviously going to be a central aspect of the film, but at the end of the day this isn't TDK. Batman and Superman are allies in the DC universe, they're teammates in the Justice League. Even if it sometimes is an uneasy alliance, it is an alliance. They're trying to launch the DCU into film.

The Civil War trailer doesn't reveal every twist of the plot for how they get from here to there though, the BvS one does, that's the problem.

This is the 3rd Batman v Superman trailer. We've only had 1 trailer for Civil War. Wait until you see trailers 2 and 3 before you say that. Go back and look at the trailers for Age of Ultron as well before you get negative on the BvS one. Hell go look at all of the MCU trailers.

The third civil war trailer isn't going to show captain america and iron man teaming up and being friends. Marvel isn't that dumb.

Beeing critical is one thing, writing hyperbolic bullshit is another.

I dont even care that much about this movie, but holy moly, this thread.

I'm with Proff here ( for once) , too much hyperbole it's almost like a fucking gaming side thread on ..whatever the fuck they hate over there.
How is being upset they spoiled the teamup/"real villain" hyperbole?

And yes, obviously they form the JL toward the end of the movie. Doesn't excuse the fact that I'll give even less of a shit about Superman fighting Batman which is the main premise of this movie.

Hyperbole goes both ways, like both of your posts mocking people not wanting to be spoiled.

Erm what no. Now we know the threat is doomsday. And he is created from zod's body. By lex. We now know how he looks like. We also know wonder woman will assist both superman and batman to take down doomsday.

You cant tell all these from a brief sypnosis you just posted

That's exactly what it is. Most of the movie (according to reporting) is Batman v Superman. The league is more than just the trinity, and this is the first time they meet each other.

I think there are some things that work and others that don't, outside the confines of comic book tradition. Look at how Marvel has pretty much done away with secret identities.

To my knowledge, the primary characters were never ones to hide their identities anyway. Captain America was always known to be Steve Rogers, Hulk is known at least to Government as Dr. Banner, Thor has no secret identity, and Iron-man I'm pretty sure was commonly known as Tony Stark. I'm no comic book expert but from the bit I did read growing up, I don't think those characters went to the lengths to hide their identities like Batman or Superman. Clark Kent is as much a part of the Superman character as anything else, if you're going to do away with the secret identity he'll only exist as Superman and clearly they're not going to strip away half the character.

Yeah and they all fall flat because of it. I just hope there is a bit of emotion to it and not half an hour of explosions and no danger. Needs to be tense not inevitable winners going through the motions. An actual struggle of life or death.

No, that's the trailer. I can understand with you being an MCU fan and all that you'd think something with so little character development is the movie, but nope it's just a trailer.

So, if we state the obvious that it was a terribly done trailer we are MCU fanboys? ok.

You can see the almost bitter and arrogant nature of Bruce and the naiveness of Clark, really loved their scene together, also Luthor will be awesome.

Doomsday looks more like Bolg to me lol.

wakes up in the morning with cool OJ

sits downs reads all the hate comments

people hating on comic book like settings and nature makes it feel like they blindly watched Avengers 1 and 2 like nothing similar happened

I get the spoiling comments though.... but not the ones that cry that the whole movie is spoiled and there is no point in watching it

really? Batman and Superman not worth watching? LMAO

Age of Ultron trailers didn't spoil the whole movie though? Vision never appeared in any of the trailers, we never saw what Ultrons plan was, we never heard of the Mind Stone, we didn't know about Hawkeyes family, we didn't know about Quicksilver dying, etc. They showed very little, considering.

This is a really dumb complaint but we accept Kent takes of his glasses and no one realizes he is superman so why does Bruce need to change his voice when he becomes batman? Ben Affleck seems like he is killing it as Bruce Wayne, just use his normal voice for batman
