Honestly though, my hype deflated a bit. Something about the posing at the end and the Doomsday reveal and the quips about WW--it seems kind of try-hard.

Still, I'll totally see it while patiently waiting and hoping for a zany science take on Superman and the challenges he faces.

Doomsday could work very well in a grounded movie based on Clark's everyday life. His job, his relationship with people, Lois romance, etc. Something like a mix of both All-Star Superman and Death of Superman is what i'd have in mind.

It changes the story if it's anyone else. Especially Darkseid. Darkseid beating the shit out of Superman until he dies also goes completely against his character.

Also, no. It doesn't go against Darkseid's character to kill Clark. Shit, only stopping because his goals have been deterred and he's already taken from Earth its greatest hero is so Darkseid it hurts.

This is my belief... but then again I'm the same person who said Ultron looked terrible with lips and teeth and everyone was convinced he had multiple forms. So until that happens, I'm leaning towards it not happening. (even though the same source that broke Doomsday said he transforms)

Doomsday's never been a character, he's a plot device.

It would make sense to have him transform, his whole deal is he adapts to whatever you throw at him. He'll get the shit kicked out of him initially and will come back with a harder exoskeleton covered in spikes. Bats will defeat him with some sort of technology and he'll become immune to that, etc.

It's become a bit tiresome but what other option is there with aliens and mutated monsters and super powers and destroyed cities? All CGI looks really stupid to me lately. I can't even remember the last time it "tricked" me.

Literally nothing in this trailer paints a picture of a conflict with no consequences.

Even more silly when this movie is a follow up to the only super hero movie in recent history where something that happened actually matters in its world and is built upon the consequences of that event.

Yes. I generally have a problem with comic book movies taking huge liberties with well known storylines instead of just creating something original. I felt the same way about Days of Future Past too.

Darkseid supposed to be a cold, calculating manipulator who prefers to manipulate behind the scenes instead of get into fistfights. In the rare events the he does get into fistfights with Superman, he's not above making a strategic retreat as soon as the odds turn away from his favor. Him and Superman punching each other to death in downtown metropolis is like the opposite of what his character is supposed to be.
