Marvel Comics has reportedly announced a 2016 event titled "Apocalypse Wars." According to an attendee at Comic Con Experience 2015 (CCXP) in São Paulo, Brazil (tweeted at Newsarama Friday morning), Marvel talent manager Ricky Purdin stated that "Apocalypse Wars" will run through Extraordinary X-Men, All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men.

Photos of a title card shown at the CCXP panel by Marvel have also surfaced online.

In comic books, Apocalypse was last seen in the Axis crossover in early 2015. An alternate universe version
of the character was featured -- and killed --
in Secret Wars.

Apocalypse was teased in the post-credits scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and is the primary villain in May 26's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Newsarama has not yet reached Marvel Comics for confirmation.

Looking forward to the movie, shaping up to be the best.... well it'll be my best/favorite movie of 2016 in comparison to Civil War and Batman vs Superman.

Fox and Marvel working together now?

Something's up. With the TV shows and now this cooperation, I think a deal has been struck between Fox and Marvel. Only time will tell what this agreement contained.

This and also the news about the Xmen related TV shows makes me think Fox and Marvel are on reasonable terms, maybe they got the Fantastic 4 rights back for the TV shows and comics.

I assume this will be something between Evan and vanilla Apocalypse. We haven't seen En Sabah Nur himself (rather than a clone or an alternate universe/timeline version) in a decade.

Edit: anything to move past the current Terrigen storyline. It's booooooooring. The legacy virus did it, Scarlet Witch did it, and it was already not great.

It's really a lot more simple than that. Around movie time, their fanbase's interest in X-Men and Apocalypse will be piqued. Marvel cashes in by doing an event.

LOLLLLLLLLL no he wasn't. That was just his clone, deciding he gave no fucks and that looking like a preteen was for suckers. That dude is still around and currently a primary cast member of ANXM...though no one seems to have bothered to mention all the horrific shit he did during AXIS.

AXIS is really the WORST event marvel has ever done. EVER.

Fox has nothing to do with this

I'm talking about the corporate synergy between the two. An Apocalypse event tied in around "X-Men: Apocalypse"? They didn't do this with Days of Future Past (Battle of the Atom finished in 2013 and Death of Wolverine was later in the year) and we all know about the F4 debacle between the two. Basically, history shows that Marvel Comics do not like to play well with the Fox movies. And now they start to play nice? Granted, the whole Terrigenesis thing with the mutants is still going on, but I think something's up. This could also be me wildly speculating, but it just seems odd that one minute, they refuse to tie-in their books to X-Men and the other, they do a huge event with the same big bad showcased in the movie. Coincidence? I think not.

Or maybe it is. I'd definitely need to see something more concrete, like more X-Men merch, an X-Men animated show, or them being back on official art by the company. Hope springs eternal, though.

Title makes me think this is about Family business

I doubt it went farther than "Hey we haven't used Apocalypse in a while. Lets do something with his lame ass"

The thought that (recent) comics would boost the movie sales in a meaningful way is kind of nonsense anyway if you ask me. That the movie boosts the comics is way more likely to happen.

That's what they're betting on. They're just being smarter about it this time. I.E Not making a literal Civil War 2.

marvel is partnering with fox on their upcoming television shows based on the Xmen. whatever animosity was there seems to be over with.

and yet it never does.

I wouldn't say NEVER. Rocket Raccoon did something like 300K after GOTG hit. Granted, a bunch of that was boom box (sp?) but ordinarily a RR comic wouldn't have done a tenth of that.

they should combine age of ultron and apocalypse wars and have an event called age of apocalypse
I see what you did there

The only animosity was in the minds of fanboys

You right but those three were the center of Remender's big arc.

Challenge me again and I will make you read Austen's run again.

This should be fun. We have an Avengers event starting up and this should be out by the time that ends.

Original Sin was worse IMO. AXIS at least had a decently written Apocalypse and some fun tie-ins.

But Redneck Carnage and Cap Armor

yeaaah...but...

hundred dollars no one references this bit of embarassment for the next couple of decades.

absolutely not. The worst thing OS did was that Thor business. otherwise it was decently written and logically consistent, which is ABSOLUTELY NOT something you can say about AXIS.

As for Apocalypse- decently written? This was Evan Sabanur, not the OG. dude decides to "hulk out" and waltz around looking like the original..no one bats an eye. Declares war on all humans, decides to exterminate them. All of the Xmen decide "this is a great idea!" This is good writing?
