Manmademan if I go out savng the Earth, I want a 100 foot statue of me in downtown ATL playing bonecrusher's Never Scared 24/7.

When Marvel has an Avengers/line wide Event: Announced at NYCC or SDCC or C2E2, usually teased ahead of time. Announced in conjunction with a bunch of promotional images and marketing. Newsarama or CBR usually have interviews up right away with Axel Alonzo or Tom Breevort explaining how revolutionary this event will be.

When Marvel has an X-Men Event: Announced at a comic con in Brazil by a guy named Ricky Purdin (?) with no prior warning. Marvel itself has released no info on it and the only reason we know about it is because Newsarama posted a blurry twitter picture. The announcement happened 6 hours ago and Marvel has yet officially confirmed it.

And we are using this as evidence that the X-Men aren't being marginalized?

Well when X-men can push Avenger units they can have a seat at the adult table. They could be carol danvers, so not like it is doom and gloom.

This should be fun. We have an Avengers event starting up and this should be out by the time that ends.

Original Sin was worse IMO. AXIS at least had a decently written Apocalypse and some fun tie-ins.

Shit, we still dont know what made thor unworthy.

yeaaah...but...

hundred dollars no one references this bit of embarassment for the next couple of decades.

absolutely not. The worst thing OS did was that Thor business. otherwise it was decently written and logically consistent, which is ABSOLUTELY NOT something you can say about AXIS.

As for Apocalypse- decently written? This was Evan Sabanur, not the OG. dude decides to "hulk out" and waltz around looking like the original..no one bats an eye. Declares war on all humans, decides to exterminate them. All of the Xmen decide "this is a great idea!" This is good writing?
Original Sin was boring, had bad tie-ins, and did really stupid stuff with characters like Dum Dum and Fury that basically ruined them in addition to some other issues.
sadly, that bit of business was meant to be taken seriously. it wasn't parody.

I don't see how you can look at some of the things he said and think Remender wrote them to taken 100% serious. It was a serious moment, but he was hamming the character up.

Honestly, axis should be a point of reference as to not to start an event right after starting up a new character run. Fuckboy cap falcon almost made me sour him in general

You know event bumps don't count. Wasn't the Spiderman X book the top seller before the reboot?

Spider man and the xmen was a good book though. Better than amazing at the time.

holy shit I forgot all about that- you weren't the only one. I was EXTREMELY reluctant to pick up Falcon Cap because of that. the character was flat out awful.

hey, when you can compare them to other event bumps they count. No idea about the spiderman X book, I've had a lot of whiskey today.

OH THAT. no idea what the sales for that were but it was LEGITIMATELY a great book. Come on, it gave us "I don't want to cure cancer, i WANT to turn people into dinosaurs"

that gif will live on in comic infamy forever

Marvel so coldblooded, they see people devour anything Peter + MJ related and then:

Or another reminder that the X-Men's prime was back in the 90's :P

If you can't beat your enemy, ride their wave

Marvel has beaten the Fox films at the box office handily many times. This is indicative of a thawing of relations between the companies, probably due to the horse trading deals being made regarding the FF rights and the greenlight for the X-Men TV shows Fox wants to do. It's a positive thing.

Please be good.

Please be good.

Please be good.

Won't be Secret Wars good, but still.

The only animosity was in the minds of fanboys

Well, there was something between them, we just don't know if its animosity or not. (Bleeding Cool says otherwise, but its Bleeding Cool.)

- First, the comments by the head of Gazillion of being punished by Marvel for tying into F4ntastic.

- Comments by Mondo that "[Marvel] just said no to anything Fantastic Four in general."

- Chris Claremont saying that Marvel straight up banned new mutants, though Brian Michael Bendis denied it. (I tend to believe BMB here.)

- Some more proof Marvel were blocking the use of X-Men characters in non-comics media

- The removal of the X-Men and the Four from their character poster

- Marvel cancelling the comic series which had been a staple of the company for decades. Again, tenuous due to the fact the book wasn't a high seller according Fox CEO Jim Gianopolous, but the symbolic meaning of it is evident.

- And then there were the Brevoort comments on how there'd be no new X-Men animated series because they weren't making them any money compared to Avengers shows and what not. I can't find the source of it though.

So, there was something between the two. Whether it was animosity or pure financial decision-making, who knows.

EDIT: Forgot about the retconning of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into...not-mutants? Inhumans? I can't remember the details from that Uncanny Avengers arc.

these been debunked a thousand times before especially the Chris claremont thing, he lied, he created a new mutant character.

the odds are stacked against it. The last few Xmen centric events were what....AVX, Battle of the Atom, and AXIS?

uh...

his birth name is Evan Sabah Nur, referencing En Sabah Nur, the Original apocalypse. No one calls him "Genesis Evan."

Something has to break the streak

The Claremont one was discredited, but what about the other ones? I don't remember any denials from any of the other companies mentioned.

Plus, the altering of some of the Secret Wars covers to edit out the X-Men and F4, and replace them with Marvel-owned heroes.

Why would someone go to such lengths to erase these things from (frankly) small things like posters, games, and shirts? It can't all be financial.
