Why? There people who never played PS2 games who may be interested in revisiting some of the best PS2 games.

Just like how some old Sony gamers dislike PS3 remasters. Like these arent really meant for them but for those coming from Xbox line. Simple to understand. Not everything is a constant warzone and bickering on these reveals.

I find it hilarious xbox gamers are spending $150 to buy an xbox controller. At the end of the day, its their money and if they like that or find it useful, more power to them.

Real talk, I use to play Ape Escape 2's Monkey Soccer minigame with my cousin growing up. Thinking about being able to do this online with 1 copy...like its that fucking cool? I believe Ape2 will be worth $15 for me to have.

I would be happy if Sony would confirm the fact that from now on all titles purchased in the PS store for this Gen

if it is PS4, PS2, PS1 and maybe later on PS3 will work on the other future consoles in the foreseeable future

and not be back to a empty slate on PS5 (or whatever)

Reading people complain about the lack of Disc support I think is silly, if the system was just making the games run at the original resolution and with no added bonuses, I would agree with you. They are making some sizeable changes, and making these games available to people who no longer have there games collection, I loved Dark Cloud but that disc was lost long ago.

Also, all the people complaining about the price, some are 10 dollars, max seems to be 15.....that is not steep at all. I don't understand the issue at all, if it is too high, this isn't for you! I would have been happy to pay almost any amount for the port for Dark Cloud purely to try and get a Dark Cloud 3! Also, for me to be able to enjoy games I missed like Twisted Metal and Rogue Galaxy at a better resolution and modern OS/trophies is awesome.

You can find in some stores that sell PS2 games near me (used of course), and they still have a 5-15 dollar price tag attached (AUD), so when you are getting these extra features it is more than reasonable to ask for more than that amount. Maybe I am just completely blinded by my excitement to play Dark Cloud again, but whatever....WOO!

Horrible knee jerk reaction to XO BC. MS made a great move enticing 360 players with that feature. This is just a half baked mobeybgrabbing opportunity which I won't support and I hope nobody else does either.

We really don't not in every single thread at least it takes away from people excited. This reminds me of how when gravity rush 2 was announced every threas during that time was vita port begging and blaming sony. Know what happened a mod had to shut that convo down and warn it was ban worthy now. So why deluge every thread into a negative spiral with this. 6 threads so far, same replys, same people, same stuff. We can't do anything here on gaf go tweet yosh, adam whoever go on the blog but sincr its announced and we are at this point, we should be able to be excited and talk about the actual feature now.(and im not even saying you guys are wrong, i feel for yall that spent on ps classics)

Do you realize the implications this have over digital games and consoles? This pretty much make it clear what their view are and that they'll try to charge you every time they can for the same games, contrary to what every platform is doing in 2015 (PC, Android, etc).

Enjoy your moment I guess, but you were warned. Get ready to buy the same PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 games again once PS5 hit the market if Sony has their way.

The "full BC" ended with PS3.

At the beginning PS3 could play all/most PS1/PS2 games then they removed the hardware for it, then you couldnt. Then it was only though Classics line, emulated.

You had this coming from way back. I can guarantee you, your PS4 purchases wont be playable on PS5. Be disk or digital. (though some digital games may get a free update if they are released closed to PS5 launch)

They should look into making PS2 games readable and then slap a $5 "upgrade" fee. Everyone more or less wins that way.

Sorry boss, I can't pass up Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud.

If Dark Cloud 2 happens I'll gobble that up as well.

Except it has been planned since before BC was announced for XBONE.

Nice I'd drop money on Parappa 2. Hopefully they can fix the delay issues that made Parappa 1 and Um Jammer basically unplayable on an HDTV.

Again this is a really awful sentiment to accept. You'd like to think that we won't get bombed with remasters and have to repurchase games. It's more of the principle of it than anything. PS4s will have a limited lifespan, eventually those servers will go down too. What happens then? I think this go around it's more acceptable because the PS3 was built on such a shit architecture, but I don't think this shit should fly a second time around. It just sends the message "DON'T BUY DIGITAL GAMES ON CONSOLES."

If these console manufacturers want to do the inevitable all digital future, they have to do it right. When Steam basically ensures you can play your purchases until the end of the time, they have to do better.

I honestly think it's just better for people to hold on to their PS2s.

The idea of updated PS2 games is great in theory, but I think the execution will be poor. People are already upset about the prices. I don't think Sony will deliver, but maybe they will prove us wrong.

There are countless numbers of great games on PS2, so the average PS4 owner will be making at least a handful of $15 purchases.

My personal expectations for the game selection are low.

I now have zero confidence in the future of my PlayStation digital purchases, I could understand why PS3 content could not be transferred to PS4, but PS1 and PS2 classics support, with or without HD rendering, should have been day one.

Hasn't there been a patent for PS1/PS2 games getting trophies since like 2013? I highly doubt MS has anything to do with this.
This has most likely been in the works long before BC was announced for XBO at E3 this year.

Ill wait for sales for th ps2 games. You know they'll happen. Just look at the great PSOne and ps2 classic sales. I'll double dip once I see some visual comparisons, impressions of shareplay and games that really benefit from it.

I didn't buy a ton of ps2 classics on PS3 because I had a ps2 and launch PS3. And both of those still work. So I'm in no rush

How about a trade-in program where I send Sony my PS2 discs and they give me a free voucher for the upscaled version on my PS4?

PS4 can read DVDs just fine, no need for that, just check you have the DVD inserted and DL the digital version. then give them the option for $15 if upscale(lol) and trophy support are worth it.

Sony basically announced that you should never buy anything from them digitally.

Ever.

I agree with this man.

If you wanna play your PS2 games go buy a PS2 and stop whining. Let me know how 1080p and trophy support works on your PS2 as well.

Apparently I'm crazy.

PS2 games that are uprezzed, with some modern features seems like an okay price for $15. If they were just flat out PS2 versions I'd have a problem with it.

(Tho I'm only gonna get the ones I dont own already; PS2 days I used to rent everything since I had rental places then.)

Ever.

PS4 is the 2nd system from Sony that has digital content. I think its safe to say that each gen will have their own licenses and such. Like there isnt really a "norm".

Its not like Sony has had BC for 5 generations and all of the sudden, they stop doing that. I bought a few PS4 games digitally just to avoid switching disks not because I intended to play them on PS5 though PS100.

Some of you have to step down into reality. Even Xbox there will be a time where some previous gen software isnt supported. Will xbone games be playable on xbone2...xbone3? Is that really what you think when you buy a digital game?

PC is the way to go if you want to play all your games until whenever, you know?

In for Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud, and also likely Mark of Kri.

Pretty great starting selection.

DC 2 got re-rated so it seems very likely. :)

Man I'm excited. Especially when I saw "Arc the Lad" coming soon.

Definitely gonna get Mark of Kri and Rogue Galaxy. Price really doesn't seem as bad as people are making it out to be.

Definitely not an STD, as I'm a pure.
Cool. I have no interest playing old games, but we'll see where this goes. Also at the people whining about every single thing, it's like Sony has a gun to your head forcing you to buy PS2 games. If you really want to play PS2 games so bad get a PS2.

$15?

Fuuuuck off.

The Ps4 IS capable of doing exactly what PCSX2 does, play discs natively and upscale the games to 1080p, but they won't because people are gonna buy this shit for $15 a pop.

I'm totally fine with the $15 version existing with Trophies and all that, but they really should have done some true backwards compatibility.
