There's also the problem that, for a pass-the-torch arc, Gohan does the less than in any other arc before the fight with Cell, except if you consider Raditz to be its own arc.

Gohan was always in the frontlines, helping, but come the androids, and he becomes another spectator. Are we supposed to believe this guy had to take over from Goku?

Toriyama set it up from the Saiyan saga to be that way. He just wasn't always very good at it and I think it was more evident in some of the filler. (Garlic Jr. etc)

From Xenoverse (and... Heroes? is that in Heroes, too? I've only played Xenoverse since Budokai 1).

Trunks is in the Time Patrol, recruited to make sure no time travelers fuck up the timeline. He was recruited to make up for his own sins of fracturing the timeline!

I'd super goddamn love if Super brought in the super Time Force.

They're originally from Online, but yeah, people would probably know them from Xenoverse and Heroes. Also Trunks was only made to think he committed sins by the Kaioshin of Time, since it was only after he timetravelled that she instituted laws against timetravel; she just really wanted an assistant.

Have there been episode titles released yet for the next few weeks? Wondering what's down the pipeline since it looks like
Goku vs. Frieza starts either next week or the week after

Powering up allowing detection has been a series staple since forever, it's only a tie-in to the new Whis technique in that we have people who can power up without leaking (heh) now.

Like many things, I do find it a bit odd that in a galaxy full of Ki users, no one was like "hmm, what if I focus on not leaking energy instead of raw powerups?". That part seemed to be something G&V figured out on their own after a verbal instruction, rather than god given powers.

I wish we saw some Gotenks v Freiza action too, god that was some poor writing, not like they don't know their time limits by now, and they still fused 20 minutes before getting there?

Thing is now in future fights we won't know who's stronger if everyone knows how to power up without leaking ki lol.

Couple points after finishing the recent one:

- Just reinforcing the idea that Picollo should be beasting Gohan at this point. You would imagine that P was training every day over Gohan's scrub ass. It's like damn, Gohan should have at least been putting an hour or two in every day. What if Buu just decided to go nuts someday?

- Honestly was hoping for a Gotenks/Freeza fight, just for how weird it would be.

- Ginyu instantly being powerful in the new guy's body was weird. Just going to attribute that to Toriyama forgetting that Ginyu was weak as all get out when he leaped into Goku's.

Big part of that was that Goku used the kaioken to get the most of his body, but ginyu doesn't know the move, which means he has some limits in how much he could use goku's body.

Tagoma was trained by getting kicked in the face by freeza for months. No need to discover how to use that power

Maybe, but he's at least managed to fight and put off the main baddies a few times. Getting there and running out of time, when they know exactly what the time limit is?
The only real fight Gotenks had was against Super Buu and even that was a fight full of gags and interrupted by the fusion ending.

The thing that I don't understand is that shouldn't the characters still be leagues above Frieza?

Like Piccolo fusing with Kami should've put him in a league above Frieza.

Gohan, even if he isn't capable of going SSJ2 anymore, should still be more than a match for Frieza considering his SSJ base form was almost enough to destroy Cell.

Didn't ginyu also use bulma's body better than she could? Or was that filler only?

It was filler, but DBZ filler is canon now, since Gregory exists.

The thing I go by now it's filler unless it brought back up again in Super.

It's the only way you can work in Freeza having his regular 4th form in hell during Buu Saga Kai yet be in his cyborg form later in a completely different looking hell.

That piccolo scene was so...dumb. Ugh. I guess it's a callback but eh.

I was expecting gohan to rage before the final blast. Maybe it'll happen next episode.

And what's with no blood on the arm rip?
I'm not huge into blood or anything (I mean, I play a Wii U... ;) but dang, none at all. I like blood in DBZ because it's a good indicator. They don't use it often, so when it comes out, you know someone's actually being hurt.

Like when Vegeta was getting worked by kid buu (or everyone ha) and regular attacks had him spilling. It let you know, ok he's dying.

When Piccolo got worked and his arm rip off, and gohan was getting shot, I could obviously tell there was damage, but it just didn't feel high stakes to me...

Trunks arc had the best everything.

Trunks intro

Goku returning to Earth with an awesome new technique and with awesome new clothes

Vegeta in a pink shirt

Goku's Yardrat uniform was awesome. I thought it was cool as heck when he came back after Mecha Frieza wearing it.

Yeah, actually that's was of my favorite parts of the whole Dragon Ball series.
I remember feeling Vegeta's helplessness back then, seeing two guys transform into SS just like that, while he was still struggling to gain more power. Trunks was a complete stranger and it made for a great atmosphere when Goku came back.

I wish you could play as pink shirt Vegeta in games. Pink shirt SSB Vegeta.

When he came back it was like "whoaa brand new Goku" and then he did the finger thing against the sword.

OMG why do they gotta make Gohan look like such a bitch! This should be his wake up moment where he's like "fuck this, if dad and vegeta aren't around I need to train to be able to defend earth if anyone ever comes around as strong as Frieza again"

Yeah he hasn't actually done that since he spent his time from age 10-11 in the Room of spirit and time with his dad, outside of maybe 1 day.

He's in his early-mid 20s right now. The last time he trained, he was younger than Goku was at the start of Dragon Ball. Now, he's about the same age, or slightly older than, Goku was at the beginning of Z, when raditz showed up

About as confusing as Gotenks' fusion ending so quickly.

That makes sense actually. Those idiots probably fused ahead of time and forgot to factor in the time needed to travel to the battlefield. Also gdi preview, Goku and Vegeta are already back. :x

This was the perfect trigger for SSJ2!!! >:|

but aren't they super fast? in the buu saga they circled around the world in minutes

They also probably stopped in midair to pose and think about how they were gonna make their entrance. Not to mention they had to suppress their ki so that the main gang didn't sense them coming so that reduced their speed. All in all the answer I thought of is probably the one that happened or Super story people just said fuck it and let him defuse within 5 mins.

How many times does Gohan need to see Piccolo die for him to get his ass in gear?

Jezus kid. You complain the entire Z series that you're always too weak and people are throwing themselves to save you. You get to the point were you turn that around and then you just let it go full circle. We're back to Gohan from the saiyan saga.

Actually, he was more useful back then.

Also, that Gotenks' money shot fucking slayed me lol. Best moment of the episode.

Goten & Trunks ftw.

Why didn't Ginyu swap bodies with someone ages ago? Like, just a random human? At least he would've been able to speak and have opposable thumbs. Why the fuck did he just sit around as a frog for like ten years?

I liked Tagoma :(

Fun episode though, love how Goku and Vegeta are learning to be conservative with their ki usage. Also, as short-lived as it was, I liked watching Gohan get to beat someone up for once.

It's mentioned in this episode by Jaco that Ginyu has the ability to draw out the host body's power. If you look back at the Namek arc, it's clear that Ginyu and Butter were surprised by how low his power was after the body change, so it doesn't seem like that's what's usually meant to happen. So, this new information fits in pretty well with Z, unlike some of the other retcons.
I thought it was because goku was using kaioken to get to that 180k power level. A technique ginyu didn't know at the time. Tagoma's was inherent power.

Freeza greatly powered up by learning how to control his true power after his revival. They've mentioned that he's stronger than ever before, and right now he's still in his 1st form.

- Ginyu instantly being powerful in the new guy's body was weird. Just going to attribute that to Toriyama forgetting that Ginyu was weak as all get out when he leaped into Goku's.

If you look back at Namek, Ginyu's power dropping seemed to be quite unexpected for him and Butter. So, I guess we're meant to look at the Goku incident as an exception and this is what his power usually does.

Why didn't Ginyu swap bodies with someone ages ago? Like, just a random human? At least he would've been able to speak and have opposable thumbs. Why the fuck did he just sit around as a frog for like ten years?
He apparently never learned how to write DB world language, just Freeza empire's.

Kind of confused how Piccolo got weaker than a regular SS. Love Ginyu being back though, his change powers are the best.

The only way things make sense is if Gohan still has some of that Kaioshin ritual power, he just got weaker due to lack of training, but hasn't dropped to bellow SSJ2 levels at least.

A magazine scan just popped up
confirming that Gohan will reveal a "giant power" next week. However, his body can't take that power...

Not sure what to think about that.
Gohan doesn't deserve any kind of "giant power" right now. He doesn't train like Piccolo, Vegeta or Goku. I don't want him to be useless but it would be silly if he gets handed yet ANOTHER power up.

Hilariously, Tagoma still said change in english.

Is english the alien language?
apparently the whole universe can speak one shared language but they write it different ways.

how can this be you ask? simple, don't ask.

no don't bring up Namekians speaking some other language, that's propaganda.
