This is just going to be Gohan pushing his body to stall until Goku and Vegeta arrive to beat Freeza and Ginyu so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Since Gohan said that SSJ was a huge strain on his body he's probably just going to go SSJ2.

You know what I just realized...with Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, Buu and possibly Gohan gone...who will protect earth? Z Fighters with Gotenks? Seems like a stretch...this could be a plot point...
Do Toriyama and co. know that there's an outcry for Gohan? I know it's mostly an America thing, and most Japanese prefer Goku.
kicking him while he's down implies that he wants to fight in the first place, which he clearly doesn't
Is it really impossible for Gohan to be a good dad and train? It makes no sense that he can't do both.
He doesn't have to want to fight. The only impulse he needs is to protect his loved ones. And that's always going to be there because of the nature of Dragon Ball Z/Super. There will always be threats to everyone he loves.
none of that affects his desire to fight, especially when his dad and his dad's rival always show up to save the world
This is such a good point. Vegeta takes the L so much harder than Gohan does, especially because he tries so hard and doesn't have an excuse like Gohan's pacifism. Maybe that's why his fight against 19 was so glorious. He kicked ass for the first time in the series since he fought Goku (and ultimately lost).Even when Vegeta is there, he's never a real threat to the villain and even when he is, they'll switch it up and make it about Goku
I mean... SSJ3 Gotenks is pretty powerful. That should be enough to protect the Earth, one would think.
Doubtful, since goku learning to finish the job was a pretty big part of rof
I hope my boy Vegeta kills off Frieza this time around.
this is all that matters
the movie was such bullshit "gotta have goku be the hero" bullshitty shitbull

I really hope they take advantage and make that a plot point. Develop some of the human characters more hopefully. Gotenks can do a lot by himself, unless he forgets his time limit like the last episode (sigh)
Hey, that also has me wondering, it's always one super powered villian after another coming after little old earth, what the heck are the other planets in the galaxy doing when this happens? It must happen a fair bit since so much shit seems to happen on earth, which was supposed to just be a little backwater that no major galactic powers cared about until the Saiyan saga.
Buu didn't really do this, which is funny since Goku decided to stay dead for this very reasonLike comic book heroes, the threats come as a direct result of goku's existence

I guess technically since babidi came looking to revive buu with the energy of earth's warriors, who by all rights were the strongest in the universe.
Most of us can have a 9-5 job, go gym afterwards and then go home to the family but apparently Gohan can't.
Vegeta and Goku are kind of terrible fathers tho. Vegeta a little less but he still abandoned Bulma and Trunks to go train with Whis anyway.

Yeah Vegeta better be the one to kill Frieza this time.

Vegeta didn't even hug Trunks until the Buu saga.
Goku ought to be pissed at Piccolo for saving that failure of a son yet again. He probably sensed what was happening on earth and was biding his time in hopes Frieza would kill him as an easy out for having to claim that embarrassment any more. Goten is clearly the beloved son and will inherit his father's legacy as a committed warrior with the focused discipline to get off his ass and train. Gohan is the shame of the entire sayain race, and for as long as he lives, Goku has to cope with all the world knowing this scrawny nerd who likes to larp as a superhero came from his own loins.
It's established Goku doesn't really care much about his family anymore.
In what sense? That seems a bit extreme.
What magazine scan are you guys talking about anyway
Just watch how they want to get us (Gohan) fans have hope again. Only to crush it in the worst way possible.
In the end it will be that Piccolo taught Gohan how to grow into a giant.
Turns out being a giant has been known to be useless since the last time Piccolo became a giant.
If you watch History of Trunks right after Freeza it adds an entirely new weight to the Android saga. Just SaiyanThe only version of Gohan that's interesting:

In the main timeline, I find goofy and "weak" Gohan to be way more interesting than Cell Games or Mystic Gohan.
I love DB when it's not all about the power and the transformations (I've been a Dragon Ball fan since the late 80s).
