Final Fantasy 7 Remake: all parts will have the size of a full game

This is the shit I'm sick of seeing. No, this is not what WILL happen. This is what MAY happen. You know what else might happen? It might be fleshed out and wonderful.

It has the potential to be shit, but it has the potential to be great. The fact that you are writing this game off when we've seen like 10 seconds of gameplay and a few interviews shows how little imagination you have.
 
Interested to see how it's broken up, but this makes the most sense, especially if they are adding content and fleshing out the story as they've stated.
 
$60 isn't enough. In fact SE should just charge
upwards of $100 per release!

Except that if it would have been done in a single movie, it would have been really good. The padding and filler really dragged the whole thing down. In particular that totally cringe worthy "love" triangle they felt the need to add. Everything about FF7's announcement of it being split into new "full games" raises red flags to me. I would be far more down with it, if it's just being split into 3 games that cost 20$ bucks each, without adding any content, just for the sake of getting it out earlier.

Well, each area is completely different. In many open world games people try to point to, its just the same assets repeated over and over again.

WIth this game, your getting completely different areas literally everywhere, even Midgar itself is huge.

What they will do is just flesh out each specific area a ton more to make it more interactive than simply walking through it to somewhere else like the original game.

In midgar alone the city is probably gonna be big as hell and packed with different stuff.

A remake does not necessarily have to adhere to anything, though. That's why it's a remake and not just a FF7 Director's Cut or something. They're remaking the game, which also includes them remaking the story - which is what they're going to do by fleshing it out (among other things).

I personally think the game is gonna follow the basic story outline of FF7, but everything in-between is gonna be changed/new. But maybe they won't even do that, and just keep the setting and change major plot points..

And that'd be totally fine.

They can definitely develope multiple 40+ hour games in the FF7 universe, it has enough potential for that.
 
That wording is weird. I know they are saying that each part will have enough content to equal one full game, but unless they add a ton of content, (which they might) then it'll still equal out at about as much as the original...which was 1 game. Feels like they are having to break down into semantics here to justify what they're doing, which feels weird.

Midgar \ Outside Midgar would be fine, but 3 parts... uhm...
Splitting by disc doesn't make any sense. First disc can stand alone, but the other two really can't.

Also, please don't take as long as Starcraft 2 did <.<

You think the Midgar section will take up one game?

Trying to imagine how many parts there will be to this and I think it'll round out to 3 considering how short the last disc is.

I just broke out of a demo where they had nothing outside of it, but will in the final game. If they gave us just a closed off section of an area for the demo there is no reason for them to put anything else outside...

I explained myself wrong, i agree with both statements. What i mean is variety in side quests.

lol I took a few negative blows because I wanted it to be everything versus but XV is overall going to be a one grand experience, there isn't anything going to be like it.

That is until this whole collection of ff7r is complete

I'm sure it is there, as a matter a fact no matter where you are there are camping spots/RVs/Hotels and when you wake up you will probably get a mission to go on with a single partner to learn new abilities. Along with traditional side quests of course.
 
The problem that I have with the "FFVII is too big to be a modern game" argument is that we have many absolutely massive games that don't come out episodically. Witcher 3 is a massive game with tons of voice acting, locations etc, and they get things done. Or, say, if we're looking for JRPGs with overworlds, Ni no Kuni exists and has a large overworld. Would anyone really be upset if ffvii remake had that "type" of overworld rather than a Witcher 3 styled one, for example? Whose standards exactly is that not up to? I think it speaks more to SE's infamously poor priorties and development time than it does to the game being possible to remake by today's standards, really.

Furthermore they still lag way behind when it comes to other modern standards, like voice acting. Seriously, the voice direction in the trailer was pretty bad/mediocre, especially Wedge. That's not what I expect to see out of a project of this scope. So again, what do 'standards' really mean?

Again, we don't know much yet so I'm just musing here, really, but I don't particularly see why ffvii is impossible to create by today's standards, because it's completely unclear what those standards are and frankly tons of developers get other absolutely huge projects done these days that I feel are on similar scales.

The game could be released and each episode could be the size off ffvii itself, who knows. I'll eat crow happily of it does. I'm just extremely skeptical of the arguments being thrown around for it.

Of course there's gonna be DLC-- and likely a Season Pass of some sort. It's not a question of "if" but more about cost and volume.

This is also a franchise where Square-Enix can name any price and fans will buy it... so if the episodes/parts were $100 apiece, yeah, I think they'd sell with ease.

Considering how god awful I am at raising Chocobos i have no problem with KotR being dlc :P

A full game can literally be any size. Interpreting this as anything more than PR damage control is not recommended.
 
I know everyone wanted a single title stitched together, and that would be cool.

But this is fine as well, the 7 world will be expanded in never before seen detail,

the years of this being built up will be the best send off to the 7 Saga.

You don't have to buy it now , buy it when it's complete you will probably get a 150 Hour long story with fine details, and all the extras.

They're not splitting by disc like the original.

Where are people getting this info?

These are basically new games and should be treated as such, meaning we don't how they'll spit things up.

Moreover, they mentioned they're adding new content as well. It's a totally different game, just using the FFVII basic story and characters.

Yep, while FFXV is going to be grand. Even if it was just small I remember getting a few goosebumps at the small snippet at the end of the type 0 trailer. Call to light/Prelude while Noctis and co are running over Duscae camping, fighting some monsters.

The possibility of pulling off having a FF over world in today, a grand huge world in JRPg has been around outside of the Xeno games (which I never really liked) or in a Final Fantasy game since like 9.

If they can pull it off, with the story and game play FFXV will be something special.
 
From the wording of it all, anyone else get the sense that they wanna stretch out and continue the story past the ending of OG FFVII and the compilation? Ride out the interest in the game and sell new entries so long as people keep buying?

Fuck man, all I wanted was one, cohesive modern update to my favorite game ever. Instead now they're dancing around some bullshit no-one asked for.

How does that work and what does that even mean? What they announced back at E3 was a remake of Final Fantasy VII. That's what everybody had been waiting for and wanting. Not some stupid multi-part series which is just a sad attempt to milk the fanbase.
