Final Fantasy 7 Remake: all parts will have the size of a full game

Totally agree with you, SE is on brainwash mode. When they announce the price, everybody is going to say, is ok because is a complete game. Or maybe is imposible to SE make a game like TW3... Who knows..

You're probably right. The combat in VII:R should be good.

At the rate things are headed, we'll finally get a manned mission to Mars going and someone will somehow find some distorted justification to comment that "The Witcher 3 says hi."

<_>

First game takes place in the Midgard only, with no explorable overworld.

Second game finally get to the over world, but you are limited in where you can go. Going back to Midgard you are limited in the areas you have access to.

4th

5th?

6th?

It all sounds like they should have did this remake years ago, or set the bar very low on their graphics (something like that new game The World of Final Fantasy). Bit off more than they can chew perhaps
Midgar*
Oh maaaan. Do it, S-E.
Oh no. No CC characters.
FUCK that

How many Xenoblades, Xenoblades X and Witchers 3 is that?

Its funny people are eating SE excuse to sell them a game for 180 dollars divided in parts of 20 hours (at most) intead of 60 dollars full RPG experience, saying the original was massive.

Massive, really? There has been so many RPGs, even from them, with the size of what could be a fully 3D FFVII, the excuse is stupid as hell.
It sounds just like, "but its to hard to make 3D towns guys!"

At least this guy gets it.

If they're going to release it in parts, then they'll want to reorganise the arcs to fit better with as split release. They'll probably tell more side stories self contained within the current part.

Yeah. Which could be cool, we'll have to see. I fully expect characters like Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge and others are probably going to get more screentime than before.

I'm pretty sure that you call buy the full game and you would get access to all parts. Some are making out like SE will sell each part as a full game to milk it, I can't see that happening.

RIGHT?!

Crisis Core will end up getting referenced. We'll probably get Zack included in the Nibelheim flashback and for a flashback of his death.

I also think so. The remake already includes the redesigned SOLDIER symbol from the Compilation. And it seems like the Buster Sword has the Compilation design underneath the metal protection in the hilt.

"It's impossible to completely recreate FFVII"

"Each part of FFVII Remake will be the size of a full game"

Something doesn't add up here.

A lot of people aren't getting this part.

It's not that it's impossible as far as data size goes, it's impossible for the budget it would require for a single game. They aren't willing to spend as much money as necessary to create a faithful modern reproduction of FFVII and then sell it for $60, because they don't think it would ever be able to pay off for them.

So they had these choices:

1) Cut a lot of playable content, and make it more like a Naruto story mode than a faithful reproduction of FFVII. Release it for $60
2) Split the same project that had a ridiculous budget for a $60 game into 3(?) $60 games. There is absolutely no contradiction in thinking the same budget can be too big for one game but ok for three.

I didn't like the news that it's gonna be episodic either, but it most definitely makes sense.

FUCK that

What is wrong with you? She's such a good waifu.

In regular FFVII you can be outta Midgar in about 3 hours if ya really hustle so even with extra content I really dun see "Vol.1" being Midgar-only. A good first stopping point might be after ya get on the boat to cross the sea. But even then that feels light on content since the entire first continent of the game consists of Midgar, Kalm, Nibelheim (via flashback), Chocobo Ranch, a cave, Fort Condor, a single room cave ya can't enter until later into the game, and Junon.

Vol.1 would prolly end well after the Temple of the Ancients with Cloud going nuts giving the Black Materia to Sephiroth. It would make for a pretty crazy To Be Continued wtf moment.

and we would be waiting until 2019/2020 :p

If this means I can play VIIR in <2 years and not 4-5 then so be it.

I'm not entirely supportive of the strategy, but I think it's an interesting approach at least.

I mainly think it's weird that people are already assuming it's going to make The Witcher 3 feel like a pretty small game in comparison, or it's going to be butchered down into a linear cinematic story. It seems like people took in this new information and immediately decided to run waaaaay off field with it. Square Enix really boosts people's optimism/pessimism to crazy levels, lol.

If this is true, I retract my kiss my ass episode comment from the previous thread.

Now all that's left is the pricing structure.

Pretty sure the comparison has been made buuuut - I assume FFVII:R is gonna be like .Hack. Multiple games that tell a complete story, but each game is contained to such a way that each entry is satisfying.

They've stated that Midgar has been expanded.

It took 3 hours in 1997 game design.

A 1:1 remake of the Midgar scenario at the standards shown would take much longer, even without the expansion.

im fine with FFVII-2/FFVII-3 style of games... in the same style as FFXIII. it gives me huge games without feeling like a telltale game that is like 1hour per chapter.

as long as its FFXIII-style and NOT Telltale-style... im happy.

Midgar will probably be bigger, it seems you have to really traverse it and have to fight the army there. Going to the reactor cores are probably going to be long levels on itself (with exploration). Plus I think there will be more back story for the cast, the Avalanche members seem to be more developed as well.

I think the Mithril Mine will be a bigger dungeon to conquer too. and other things like that.

i guess it all depends on what is a "full game" to square enix; I would mind if each game was 40-60 hours alone with additional content(mostly story related) i think it would be reasonable to pay $60 but hope it's less

if its just the original story just cut into pieces I'd be highly upest

Oh no. No CC characters.
FUCK that

Why not? They exist in the world. This is FF7 after all. They no sooner don't exist in the world then Sephiroth.

You can't just take away characters from the setting just because one doesn't like them.(I really enjoyed CC BTW)

I hate cait sith, he's still gonna be in the game.

Crisis core is the prequel to FF7, its gonna be represented in this game without a doubt, even if you don't want it to.

Crisis Core will end up getting referenced. We'll probably get Zack included in the Nibelheim flashback and for a flashback of his death. The only other character I could see getting added is Cissnei.

when's genesis tho
Zack is in the original game in both of those respects. It doesn't really give him the spotlight or anything, but he's there. I see little reason he would get rejected after an entire game was dedicated to him.

CC's lore is garbage, but you know that's gonna be in the game.

Remember they're adding new stuff. They need some outside material to help pad it.

And CC/AC stuff is already ready made.

I can't believe so many people are honestly defending Square Enix over this. It's absolutely mind boggling that a company that has fucked up so much over the last gen is getting this much defense over something that the company is obviously doing to milk Final Fantasy fans.

I can see it being much longer. You're not mashing through text boxes in this game. You're watching cutscenes. It would take a few seconds to get through most areas (screens) in the original. This is gonna be a fully realized Midgar that's also expanded upon. I can easily see it taking more then double the time easy to get through that and that's if they don't include any extra side quests and optional stuff to do. As for what Part 1 of FFVII:R will cover? No idea~

Because this is helmed by Nomura and not Toriyama. And that's ignoring the fact they've been hitting all the right notes and have been actively trying to satisfy their fans ever since the new President came in.

Why arent they milking FFXV?

There are no planned sequels, there is no paid DLC, and no microtransactions, can you explain that?

You take that back! CC and AC are great games! If a little hamfisted. Looking back on FF7 lore itself, it aint perfect.

I could do without all the ancients talk after all, but Aerith is directly related to them, so its gonna be apart of the world the same way Jenova is.

oh man can you imagine if they brought Crisis Core AND Dirge of Cerberus into the main FFVII... sorry, but id be pretty okay with that (as long as they changed the combat from DoC to FFVII's give me some decent arpg shooting with him.

Atleast Yoshida can understand.

Do we really need it early though? :\

I mean I can understand Sony and SE wanting it early and 3+ segments. We could have had TLG early split up. Will FF7r leak over into PS5 even with it's episodes?

Because they're just trying to shit that game out after it being in the pipeline and absorbing money for the past decade. I can imagine they just want to hurry up and move on. Or there will be a sequel, you never know

Uh, cause number one based on what we've seen so far it looks good.

And two...SE seems to understand atleast the concept of treating its core fans right under their new President.

Old SE that you reference would not be making a new FF7 to begin with, or any major games outside of mobile that we seem to be getting now.

So excuse me for giving them the benefit of a doubt.
