Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

Right, that is all the weapons beat :)

Need 75 mil and 29 levels and then it is off to the endgame, off to all materia farming i guess ......
end game grinding spoiler

I'm having good results in the final area of the game, pretty close to the bottom on the left path after your party splits into two teams, there is an area called Eerie pools that will spawn both 1 or 2 Magic Pots or three little orange balls. Using your saved up Elixers on the Pots nets a ton of AP, as does the battle with the little orange balls. I use Cloud and Cid's Triple AP weapons, and whatever Double AP pieces I can equip on the others, then just Alls in every spot.

Although I'm sure you know that. Just sayin'

I am just there, doing just that, with just the same equipment :)
Already up 5 lvl's and about 8 mastered all materias

Duping elixirs with w-item

Sorry if this has been asked before, but a couple of questions:

- Does the item duplication glitch work?

- Has anyone tried to play the game skipping all the random encounters? Is it hard or tedious just to use the cheats in the bosses? I'm thinking fighting the bosses at level 7 is going to be a pain, but I don't know if the cheats fix that particular issue.

Ugh, I'm never going to play this but I think I have to buy it.

I feel the same and I hate myself

Looks like you can't get the Best Bromance trophy using Barret's infinite affection glitch - just completed the date and it didn't pop.

Kinda doubt I'll be able to legit Platinum this, but if I get close, I suppose it won't be too bad using the battle boosts to get back to that one.

w-item works

I think it should be doable, what i did was buy a lot of hp+ pluss and put it in ultimate weapons, and using ziedrich for armors. i was able to beat all the weapons. if you are going for platinum, if not, i dont think you even need to do that much. You will need ribbon and probably knights of the round for Ruby tho. I suggest you tackle the underwater weapon first and ruby last, the summon master materia is a saviour for ruby. With having limit breaks all the time, underwater was a breeze, i had the materia tho for zero timer.

I did the cosmo canyon talk thing about 10 times, and i followed a guide for barret, mine poped up as soon as they exited the hotel.

maybe try restarting the game. Having a go in battle square and trying again.

Currently at 25 mastered all materias. :D

Off-topic having gil plus and exp plus definetly helps a lot as well for the plat, if you were breading chocobos i definetly had enough GP and then some for both.

I didn't follow a guide at all, thinking I could just pick him. In large part because those trophies are sort of in gameplay order, so I thought it would appear then, not much later.

When it didn't pop, I looked it up and did the infinite affection thing.

Sorta guessing that you might've hit one of the dialog choices in your guide that locked it in? But I'll try redoing it tomorrow to see if it pops.

After years of replaying SNES FF titles over the PSX ones largely because emulation let me speed the games up, this 3x speed thing is amazing. I hope we get more RPG ports with this kind of thing.

I used this for barret date http://www.kethinov.com/ff7.php,

i dont even think you have to use the cosmo thing with it, but i did like 10 times anyway, and i got the trophy.

I've played this game for maybe over 1000+ hours total and just now I found out that I can get Aqualung from the Gold Saucer desert. Nice.

The Wutai quest isn't missable is it? I can get to the point of doing the Gold Saucer date and then do it afterwards, just to be on the safe side.

Mmmmm I would do it in the first CD just in case, I think you can't do it on the second CD? Dunno, it's been a while.

Thanks, man. They didn't even patch the glitches I see lol

It's just that I'm a little worried you'll read tons of spoilers while posting here. :( But if you think you can avoid 'em, by all means, type away!

Not playing it "alone" is worth a few spoilers here and there.

Anyone here do the Yuffie sidequest? I'm in the room where I need to press the levers and nothing happens. She's blocking the door and I can't leave either. I've reloaded once and I still have the same problem and can't activate the lever for the cage...

Strange, try turning off 3x speed, maybe, i was fine, the levers responded, although if i remember right it was finicky to target it, switching speed off helped, other than that i dunno :(

What i am finding is this, either try to talk to yuffie first, or try to get a specific angle at the lever from the left side.

Yeah I've messed around with the speed setting on and off. Tried talking to everyone. A Google search tells me this was also a problem with the PC version as well (the old one that is from 1998). It's doing my head in. Along with other minor glitches and inconsistencies such as going up and down in menu's sometimes moving one too far. The amount of times I've accidentally done Remove All on materia instead of Exchange.

Regret naming Red XIII 'Nanaki' because of how weird the Cosmo Canyon scene is going to be. Should've just named him Red :/.

I was going to keep all the names the same in this run too, but I really don't like the Red XIII name. In my original playthrough I called him Red Fang.

I'm gonna hit you up for so many tips after x-mas. I think i'm also gonna try to hit platinum. My first platinum trophy, and a worthy one indeed.

Also, I bought a PS4 but it's still in the box, haven't hooked it up yet. I bought this on PSN. My theme isn't going anywhere, is it?

I'm so tempted to buy this but I want FF7R to be my first experience since I've never played it before. I know the basic plot points and big moments but not all the little nuances of the story or locations. But man I could easily crush this game in one sitting.

I want to buy it and pay it after FF7R but lol that could be 4 years from now. Dat theme tho...

Personally I think you'll appreciate remake MORE if you play the original first (or at least part of it, if you don't wanna spoil the story/ending). Depending on what the remake ends up being and how well it's done, it might be hard for you to go back to the original. For zelda games, I find that the ones who started with the 3D ones (ocarina, wind waker) have a hard time going back to the 2D ones (link to the past, link's awakening) as they feel antiquated to them, despite being very different games for the most part.

I tell ya what

Since they are going full blown remake it makes me wish that the Modding community had gotten the original game much further along so that I could experience the original game in much higher fidelity

I know it pretty much been done but I couldnt find community consensus as far as a GO TO definitive mod

10 levels to go, lol i have hit max materia limit, time to sell i guess, about 50 maxed all materias xD

About to bankrupt Chocobo sage haha, man this yearly replay on the PS 4 now for the first time has been great, the cheats have been invigorating, and definetly given a different feel. This is about my 15th year in a row that i play through FF VII yearly, usually i do it in the summer, but this year my playthrough on Vita was cut short for some reason, but life finds a way i guess, first time doing the weapons e.t.c. i was always just content to be really leveled up and kill ol Seph, this time with the cheats it was fun to look at the other stuff and to go for the achievments even with the cheats, after all these years and times i have played this, i dont feel bad one bit. Been fun, 3 days of non stop FF VII, bitchin vacation :D

Got the 99 mil.

Okay I got the Yuffie lever thing to work. Of all the positions that I found reliable, it was to stand directly in front of the machine between the two levers and face away from them and then interact. Who knows why that worked but I tested it a few times to success.

Ugh, I have VIII and IX waiting to be replayed on my Vita right now but the 3X speed has changed old school FFs for me...
Yeah I was in the middle of a FFIX replay which I dropped. After experiencing 3 times speed here, I'm going to find it hard to go back to those two games.

Plus points:
Upscaled graphics to the best they could have done IMO.
Original PS1 music
X3 speed helps for grinding
supports Japanese by system language

Neutral:
No Encounters cheat
Max health and limit break cheat

Negative points:
Music resets after each battle
Menu glitches if moving too fast
Can't hold X to attack (at least i can't)
no custom button support in-game

It is a godsend. I know the stories to the ps1 ffs well so its not a problem but it just makes things so convenient. Imagine IX with 3x battle speed.

Of course everyone has gotten far into the game, but I've only been able to play the beginning.

That said, there are some changes made to the translation. Aeris says "This guy is sick" instead of the infamous "This guy are sick."

Was it already fixed in the PC version, or did they manually change it for the PS4 version? And how many other corrections are there?

so I'm in the Shinra building on the 63rd floor and I exited the elevator, and now my character has disappeared and I can't move. please tell me I have to reload to solve this ;_;

Out of curiosity, does anyone here not know the major plot moments of FFVII?

With the remake coming, I wonder how many people are gonna play this and not know the really impactful scenes.

I expect most people here know, but I really hope we get to see a few reactions from people that don't.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/39150/

and who knows, hopefully the sales of this port will influence them to port them over

Looks like it's a bad port. Still uses the crappy PC midi and the controls are gimped, based on the comments on the page. If they do port it to PS4, I would hope these things would change. I would not buy it in that state.

EDIT: It's hard to say, as there are people in the comments that say different things. But it seems they never fixed the audio issue. Does anyone own the game on steam? Care to comment?

Depends on the sales of VII PS4, which are probably quite high for what you might expect. I'd fucking love VIII + IX with 3x speed and trophies.

You and me both. I never did beat FFIX, and every time I go back to try and correct that, the graphics feel too dated and the game feels too slow.

(and if they do this with 8 and don't turn on an option to skip GF animations I will cry)

I barely even use the 3x speed feature in this game, but I'd pay good money for a IX port with it.

IX is so damn slow. I haven't even been able to finish it because it's so slow.

This is really the main problem I have with IX. The game runs slow. It's like they wanted to draw out every camera swoop, every animation. Even putting the battle speed on max, it runs much slower than say, FF VII on max battle speed. Having greater control over this would be great. And a X3 would solve a lot of issues. It would be nice to adjust it between X1, 2 and 3. You could just click it three times for X3, kind of like certain DVD players.

I don't even have the keystone yet. I'm afraid I'm a bit OP.
At least I don't need cheats, lol.

There's a mad grinding spot near Mideel that I've been using since 1997, and with 3X speed it's even crazier.

Woo.

I would just like VIII/IX run at higher resolutions, still in that 4:3 if it screws up the backgrounds, but 3x speed makes all the difference. If i was playing first time I would savour every line etc but...its like my 12th time through VII (probably) and likewise through VIII etc so it'd be nice.

Personally, I didn't have an issue with the port (but I did have to manually add in the original soundtrack, so there's that)
