Accidents can happen to anyone. That's why we shouldn't be walking around with devices that can put a lead slug into anything at the drop of a hat.

Did he at least hit the bullseye?

in an ideal world, his gun license should be revoked for a. having a gun tucked into his waistband and not a secure holster or something similar and b. having it both loaded and with the safety off.

however, knowing MURICA he'll get to keep the gun and hailed as a hero by the NRA or some shit.

Isn't this exactly why you always make sure that the safety is on whenever you aren't planning on shooting someone?

Dense motherfucker.

But what about that split second it takes to disengage the safety? Could get you killed you know, it's a nasty world out there and you got to be ready to throw lead at something at a moment's notice.

I'm so glad people can bring guns into target. It makes me feel really safe.

Clearly more people need to be armed to stop the unresponsible ones. There is no other way.

I feel like you guys already pretty much summarized the entire thread to be. We've got an appropriate target joke, an example of another incident with an idiot who shouldnt be allowed to own a gun, and snarky calls for more gun control.

Yup that just about covers it. Stop letting any random dumbass carry a gun.

Yet another reason to ban personal carry and limit guns.

If he used the weapon on that sensor that determines if you placed items in your bag at self checkout, I would allow it.

I've put the carton of milk down! Why do I need to pick it up again!?

This is why there's no such thing as "responsible gun owners."

how the fuck do you screen for "random dumbassery"?

Ban guns.

And you don't grab at the damn thing while it's falling. Let it hit the floor and pick it up. If he thought it was going to fire when it hit the floor he needs to go back to gun 101.

I wish we had a zero tolerance policy for stuff like this. Slip up once? You're not responsible enough to carry a gun around in public. Sorry.

We're not living in a safe world anymore. With the threat of terrorism and/or shoplifting ever present, no one has time for safety, just heroism.

Zero tolerance doesn't bring back the life of the person who you just accidentally killed with your one slip up.

This is why safeties are useful.

There was that other thread where people were talking about how safeties are frowned upon by some gun owners and I was like...?????????????

I just can not understand U.S. Why the FUCK would you need a gun in a store?

Obviously to stop shoplifters.

And what if some terrorist walks into the store!?!? You always gotta be ready to defend 'Murica!!!11111111

RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS.

The consequences of a responsible gun owner accidentally being irresponsible once, for a fraction of a second, are so far removed from the reality of everyday responsible gun ownership. A single instance of irresponsibility can and often does kill someone. In my mind is ludicrous that anyone would balk at the idea of such a potentially dangerous machine being regulated and tracked.

No argument here. I'm just in the "anything is better than nothing" camp at this point.

Seriously, Republicans, can we do anything? How about limiting gun purchases for an individual to 50? No? Maybe limit them to 50 per year? Literally nothing is reasonable to them.
