That's the Flashback. That's Luke saying goodbye and leaving. Apparently, according to that book, Artoo basically shuts himself down after that.

Well, Kathleen Kennedy has said that the mainline "saga" films are going to continue the story of the Skywalkers.

There's been lots of dialogue in the trailers and TV spots suggesting that Rey is looking for her family. Implying that who her family is, is going to be a significant part of the film, and there's not many ways you can pay that off beyond her being a Solo or a Skywalker.

Yeah, the Kenobi thing could work and be a cool twist. But beyond those three, who else could she be? The long-lost descendant of Qui-Gon Jinn? The lovechild of Grand Moff Tarkin?

Well Kennedy has gone on record that the saga films are about the Skywalkers. Kylo is a Solo. Luke is the only one to carry the Skywalker surname. It makes the most sense for her to be a Skywalker.
