I just got back from Wal-Mart. They have them in back but they said there is no way it can be sold right now because it's not even added to the system (Whatever they mean by that). I guess they mean scanned to be in stock or added to the inventory system.

soundtrack will no way come close to ESB, and that is in itself a reason why it's unlikely the movie as a whole can reach it.
but of course anything is possible.

as a movie, if this isn't the Fury Road to ANH/ESB's Road Warrior, I would consider it a failure

He almost has to be at that school, because I don't see where else Luke could be leaving him. Artoo's the way he lets everyone know that he's decided to leave, probably.

The fact that it's Star Wars delivery day gives me hope that someone out there got it who will leak it.

I'm thinking it could possibly be a step above Star Wars but not quite up to Empire. With this first movie that have to set a lot of things up you know? Establishing characters, plot points, etc.

I think VIII we'll see how much they are willing to explore potential story arcs and where they can go.

I agree with you re: the Casino Royale analogy. I had a similar discussion with a friend following the release of trailer 3... and ironically we both used that specific film as an example.

I feel like the lack of Captain Phasma and Poe will be criticised.

Poe hasn't been in the trailers a whole heck of a lot, but I doubt that's indicative of his screen time. Duder seems like he'll be a key player throughout.

Phasma might be more along the lines of Boba Fett... but even then, it seems like she has a more substantial part to play.

Williams was at his height in ESB and it significantly strengthened that movie as a whole.

Ever since then, I feel like his Star Wars scores have been in a slight decline, with a debatable uptick in ROTS.

That and Azkaban are my faves of his late-period career... for now.

as I said earlier, I expect the movie to be between the PT and the OT according to my personal taste
specifically, I expect it to be a bit similar to the star trek reboot but with all that star wars glory done well, I think I will enjoy it a lot.
I expect 0 cringe, which is one of the main reasons I put the PT below the OT.
I have the tickets for 2 viewings, thursday with the SO and sunday with the buddies

I really hope they were not only there for the trailers, they are indeed fantastic versions of OT themes and if the TFA is full of tracks like that I will adore it, it's basically what I hope for
I don't expect new and memorable themes from williams, sadly. but I hope for the best.

I am mean more in terms of the pure original tracks of the score, Rey's theme and so on. Many of the tv spots and trailers aren't using original Williams work as of late either.

Movie scores in general haven't really been 70s and 90s level for a while now. For the last ten years, we've lived in the era of Zimmerman non-themes. We also get the occasional Avengers-theme hit from other composers.

Giacchino has been one of the few who have managed to create Williams-style themes in the last couple of years, while Williams himself has taken on less epic movie projects.

Walmart's includes a Kylo Ren Star Wars Galactic Connexions character collectible trading game disc, for the Topps game series.

Target's version features an exclusive outer cover and 2 collectible cards. It's also the cheapest I've seen around at $12.99 (for a physical copy).

If you happen to have an XBOX Groove subscription, it will be free to download on the 18th.

I pre-ordered the Target version.

The ROTS soundtrack ain't all that. A bit too percussive and faceless for my liking. TPM has the most memorable themes which laid out the roadmap for the prequels, while AOTC has "that" track.

I'm really hoping for a return to the romantic/whimsical/melodic feel of the ESB score, but I reckon we're in for something a bit more downbeat.

As for the film being talked about in the same breath as the first two: it's certainly possible, and a GREAT score will help its chances. I don't doubt it will be better than RotJ in its overall execution, but it will need some high ass highs to secure that coveted bronze medal.
