I'm not so familiar with vBulletin but why would NeoGAF passwords be on another site's database? Surely it's a completely isolated platform? Or do vBulletin host it centrally themselves?

FYI, there's a giant horrendous bug with Joomla right now that lets anyone basically automate scanning for Joomla installs and completely rip the site and grab the database

Seeing as how a lot of the hijacks are people that like to play Halo (?) there might be a Halo-related site out there using Joomla that just got hijacked

I highly suggest you change your password if you use common passwords and have used a Joomla powered site

I used an old 'common' password for a few sites. Guessing there was a database breach elsewhere and the guy tried here and got lucky.

Metal Gear Solid V is a good game. It is well designed, and has a whole story. The missions are not repetitive. The characters portray depth and personality. The story is not sparse, and side quests contain variety.

jeez, went to change my password, and when relogging back in it accepted the new password but kept booting me back to the main website asking me to login again. I'm on chrome so I switched to firefox, where its letting me stay logged in. Wonder if its a cookie issue.

Same happened to me. I unchecked the remember me box then entered my new password then checked the box again and it seemed to work.

Mine was sort of guessable, simply hadn't changed it in a decade, and I don't use Joomla sites, to the best of my knowledge. Further, the "hacker" appears to be a random dude, rather than a Halo fan - he posted some racist garbage in the OT instead of doing an epic "barn leak" so it may simply be a dumb script kiddie with too much time on his hands.

not sure if its similar to mine, but i kept having to re-log everytime through chrome which i just posted about a few posts up. I ended up leaving the main page where i was having the issue, going to a random thread, clicking on the reply button, and logged in through there. the login process finally worked when it did it like that.
