New Call of Duty Black Ops 3 update adds Micro Transactions

Also just a heads up for people, 100% of the proceeds of the Code Warriors pack goes towards helping veterans find jobs and when returning from duty. Not all microtransactions come from Satan.

Just something to think about before shit posting with garbage Mona Lisa modern DLC pictures.

something about taxes.. long story read into it why every major company has some sort of goodwill bs

Don't understand the outrage here.

Not only are literally ALL the items cosmetic (barring the use of Liquid Divinium for Zombies), earning cryptokeys is fast, especially if you only go for 10 key chests.

In Advanced Warfare, the fucking chests gave out special guns with boosted stats and what not. That at least is bullshit.

EDIT: AND those chests in AW were dropped at random, and the drop rate was so ass at times.

Exactly.
"B... but Activision is evilll!!! And CoD is AAA trash so it deserves to be shat on!!" Is all I'm really getting from this.

People are seriously mad about this? They're literally the least invasive form of microtransactions possible. You pay to speed up getting a cosmetic item you could already get for free. I think the supply drop items are cools sometimes but I absolutely won't pay to get them faster. it doesn't affect me in any way that there is an option to.
Only babies are mad about this, and they aren't playing the game anyway. Baby opinions are invalid.

That's fantastic. I'll actually throw some money at this to help support. Our vets need to be taken better care of, and anything helps!

It should be absolutely illigal to patch in microtransaction at a later point. A publisher should not be allowed to alter the product after I have purchased it and if it does I should have the right to get my money back!

Wow that might be the dumbest comment I've ever read on NeoGaf.

...I don't even

are you serious? Or do you actually not have any idea about how tax deductions work?

They won't pay any taxes on the money they donate, but this doesn't affect the taxes they pay on the rest of the money they make.

wow just wow

Super fucking stupid. I really like this game but this is more Activision and Treyarch Bullshit. First they shit all over Destiny with "micro"transactions and now this. Even if it is cosmetic its bullshit to add this shit in after reviews etc.

This is basically the equivalent of what TF2 and CSGO did, short of those games having full blown economies built up around them.

Literally who cares. Save your outrage for something that actually matters, people.

Free would be better, but we can't expect that anymore.

Could be wrong, but this thread is mostly filled with people defending it.

And we seriously need to stop to label every criticism with outrage. It is as bad as "Y u mad?".

why is it bullshit? you can unlock cosmetics for free. different situation from destiny.

Why do people think this would have effected reviews? This has 0 impact on the gameplay, it's just small cosmetic upgrades.

I like that you can now burn dupes for crypto keys and they also made getting the keys easier...

This really is a non-issue.

so relieved to see that gaf is "ok with this"

It's really easy to pick out who has never played this game in the thread. The overreactions like this are hilarious.

I'll never understand the internet outrage on some of the dumbest topics.
Dont like it,...dont buy it. I see no issue at all w/ this.
But...the internet is all about people b*tching about something or another.

They add things like this for people w/ busy lives that dont have time to grind out hours and hours of gameplay.

so now ive played the game again after the patch this still makes no sense. the MOTD said i had 200 points, ok thanks, and in the black market I cant do anything but use cryptokeys. from looking at it though, it looks like one box might be 200 cod points. if this is the case, its a joke, it should be at least 20 boxes for 200 points.

but anyway, nothing works, i cant get my free points, this makes no damn sense

edit - ok so its ONE rare drop for 200 points. ONE! so thats 1.59 in english money to open a single box. thats a big nop for me

It's just for ugly weapon skins anyway. Who cares. They aren't even worth real money like cs go lol.

If it was pay money for exclusive perks or to level up it would get me to sell the game regardless of how much I like it.

I wish they'd drop the price of the game whenever they do this. I own blops3, enjoy playing it for an hour or two a week, would like to trade in my physical copy and buy digitally so I am not swapping discs all the time but I have never seen it lower than $49.99 digitally.

At $20-30 its a great price and matchmaking would be even better, but nope gotta put in microtx and still keep $60 price.

as long as its only cosmetic i dont see any issues here

CS GO has skins that cost like 15,000 US$ and its only cosmetic

People be crazy

Mate, it's cosmetic items... You want them to chop the price in HALF a little over a month after release because of cosmetic mictrotransactions?

Seems a bit much.

I don't really like the idea of micro-transactions being added to a game you've already paid full price for, but at least they're only cosmetics.

They're not only cosmetic but all the new cosmetic stuff can still be obtained by normal play. They even increased the key rate for the crates to make it even easier to get the chests during play.

When I first saw the supply drops in the menu a month ago, I was wondering "why aren't they charging for these, too?". So this really isn't surprising, plus it doesn't really affect anyone else.

I've been playing the game a ton lately, and I don't really care about this. People wanna spend money on cosmetic stuff? Go right ahead. I'll be saving my money, though. Plus, the latest patch also made it a bit easier to get cryptokeys faster.

And they've made the common supply drops much worse to coincide with this, so it takes longer to earn any worthwhile cosmetic items... or pay them instead. I understand that it's only cosmetics, so it doesn't affect the core game, but they're still charging the price of another full game pretty much for a season pass. At least with Halo and Rainbow 6 the maps and extra content will all be free, not splitting the userbase whatsoever. This is just another aspect of games which was introduced for a few years, then discovered that it can be monetised without any benefit to the end-customer.

Why would this affect reviews? This ain't some pay to win shit. Its all cosmetic. Smh

Perfectly fine and appropriate to me...

Games have become too expensive to produce...

Right, but this nowhere near does it apply to this game.

You're overreacting man, I'm sorry. There are better games where your comment could apply to.

I've opened many common supply drops after patch and I don't see a difference. Rare supply drops were made a bit better though, and that was a needed change even if microtransactions were never made.

To be honest I was surprised it wasn't in the game already.
I personally don't get why people are complaining about cosmetics, especially since it doesn't seem that obtaining the currency is any harder if you don't want to pay. Also I don't know why the inclusion of cosmetic micro transactions would hurt games review wise. Especially when obtaining the currency to get them isn't that hard to do imo.

My only hope is that the common and rare drops are actually significantly different loot wise.

Why? If you dont want to alter it, then you have the choice to not download the patches (i know that patches are required for online play, but those alters the game as well).

There is a HUGE difference in patching bugs (making the product to work as advertised) and adding stuff that alters the balancing of the game!

Wait what happened, are we viciously defending microtransactions now?

hfd6b41.jpg

It's cosmetic. And the game already gave you cosmetic drops before, and continues to do so. In fact, they even increased the rate that you are able to get them. Being outraged because now there's a option to pay for extra drops is dumb as hell.

Oh yeah, all those cosmetics are definitely ruining the balancing of the game! I always choose a shiny skin so i can blind the enemies!

Wow that might be the dumbest comment I've ever read on NeoGaf.

...I don't even

What is so "dumb" about that, of course a game has to be patched to remove bugs in order to work as advertised! Alternating anything else should be an absoulte no go.

When I get my car back from the service an they tell my they patched a software error with the windscreen wipers but now every time I start my car It prompts me to get the power upgrade for 200$ I would be furious, and rightfully so!

you outdid your previous comment now.

I'm just surprised the tides have changed so much that people are calling others "idiots" for not wanting microtransactions added after launch.
