Was weird seeing Tasu Leech, guy from The Raid, have a few speaking lines but no actual fighting. I feel like there's a deleted scene in that sequence because all they do in the theatrical cut is run away and I doubt Abrams brought them in just for that.

Was that Mad Dog?

I really like rey's theme, it's playful in a way that reminds me of some of ESB's themes.
of course ESB had many memorable themes and TFA only one, but anyway.

what I especially like about rey's theme is that it sounds like a soft version of something a lot bigger and more epic, something that we will hear in episode 9 in full glory. i expect they go full Jaina with her.

I found it very obvious that Rey is Lukes daughter.

I was even expecting Luke to say in the end "I am your father" or something. :P

For some reason I have a feeling Rey is Obi Wan's grandchild or something. That would be much more fun than her just being Luke's daughter.

Yup, and with Iko Uwais next to him.

Oh wow, I didn't even Iko there. I remember hearing the announcement of them being bought on in some capacity, I thought it was strictly going to be in a choreographing position, or as stuntmen capable of selling the action scenes. Hell, one of them could have easily been that Stormtrooper, or hidden by Adam Drivers wig (I don't know there height, so not 100% sure if that's practical).

I'm sorry if this was revealed but did we get to know why Solo's son turned to the dark side?

Not really clear. When he's talking to Vader's helmet he says something about Vader showing him the power of the dark side.

Logic would dictate that he was tricked.

Leia seemingly knowing her, unknown parents that left her, strong wielder of the force, flashbacks when touching the saber, saber calling her with a child voice

All that implied to me was that she was at Luke's academy. Leia didn't know her she just felt her pain through the force when Han died.

You can be force sensitive and not be Luke's daughter.

Should have just ended it without showing Luke's face, or would that have been worse?

Worse. Would have had to listen to/read people out-nerding each other over who it was while doing some sort of frame-by-frame analysis of how tall things were on the screen like they were watching the Zapruder film.

Now that I had some time to let it sink in. JJ really messed up the assault on Starkiller base. ROTJ's climax is leagues beyond this one. As a viewer I absolutely had no connection with the pilots in the sky apart from 'that cockpit view was cool'. Like the way there is a 'trench run' is stupidly handled. Ooh there is a hole there, we need to fly through the 'trench' basically for reminding people that this happened in the OT.

It is a saga about Skywalkers, and Kylo Ren is a villain like Vader, so they aren't the main Skywalker really.

So, this kind of points at Rey being Luke's daughter.
Plus her abilities: piloting skills, technical skills (though those are more from Anakin perhaps), natural ability with the Force...

It was a love letter to ANH, and I loved it for it.

I think it did enough to be different though. I didn't know whether or not I really really liked it until I fell asleep and dreamt of nothing but Star Wars.

Yeah, it's pretty safe to say I loved it. This was a Star Wars movie, the best since Empire.

Yeah I still don't buy Kylo Ren being a villain through all three movies. All of the movies I have seen in 30 years have told me you don't end Han and Leia's legacy like that.

Well, he got turned to the Dark Side completely (for now) in this film.
The next? He is the bad guy but something does put the doubt back to him.
Redemption in the third one.

I don't think I will ever be able to accept Kylo as a 'hero' after what he does to Han. Doesn't mean squat what *I* think, of course. But I just won't buy it.

He will have to sacrifice himself for the greater good at this point.

Really, really liked it. It was pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be. It was also pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. No real surprises. But I'm happy. And that final shot, man. I knew it was coming, of course, but shit, I got legit teary-eyed (also when Han died, but more from Chewie's reaction and heroism than the death itself). This was a great setup for the new trilogy, can't wait to see what comes next. Star Wars is back, for real this time.

Redemption via sacrifice in the third film, he takes Snoke with him.

I was pretty hype for their role so I looked up any news possible so I knew before hand they were a bunch of thugs but I wasn't expecting actual dialogue. Yayan Ruhian has gone pretty far lol, and actually pulls off a badass demeanour when confronting Han Solo alongside a Guayvian death squad. I was holding out for them to bump into each other and briefly fight but we never got it. While it was a great horror type sequence, reminded me of the end of Cabin in the Woods a little, I wished they just letthemfight.gif. Technically we don't see either of them die so hopefully they track the Millennium Falcon down and 2v1 Rey lmao.

Just wanted to say that I watched the film at the midnight screening here in NZ.

Totally and utterly loved it. I'm over the moon with how it turned out.

I think that's what could make him super compelling. After that the audience will have to be convinced he's changed if indeed Luke/Rey redeem him, which would make him one of the most interesting SW film characters to date.

Sounds like the kind of challenge a good script writer would love to take on.

Wow, that was great. Just what I expected. Only wish Han would have plead his case a bit more to Kylo. That's your son, dammit! But every father has their limit, I suppose.

Yeah. I reallllllly love this scene. It's perfect imo. Man, when Han places his hand against Kylo's face right before he falls off the ledge just kills me. Damn I can't wait to see this on the big screen. I can't wait to see my son's reaction lol.

Are there people in here reading and watching major spoilers before even seeing the movie? Man, I could never do that, would totally suck.
