Since the cameras are the same across the 6P and 5x, I was wondering what settings you have set up on your camera. I'm a camera novice, so I'm not sure if I should just leave it on Auto HDR+ or leave all that off. So just wondering what you guys use on your cameras or what you recommend. Thanks!

I have a Nexus 6, but due to image retention issues which are pretty common on the N6 AMOLED panels, I think I'm going to steer away from AMOLED for a while. Maybe I'll grab a 5X for this round or just exchange the N6 and see what next generation has to offer.

Don't think this is a widespread problem for the 6p. Maybe because they use Samsung panels?

My adventures to date of unsuccessfully trying to get my earphone static problem fixed:

1. Virgin Mobile store (I got the phone through a plan with them) told me over phone to take the phone to them and they will check it out and give me a replacement if there is a problem. When I arrive they said they would only do that if I had all the original packaging. I didn't. So they would only repair it. It was sent off.
2. Received it back not fixed despite repair report saying a factory reset fixed it. Worker at store giving the phone back to me read the report and said various components had been replaced ...but the report said nothing about this.
3. I called Virgin Mobile phone line, was told to go to a Huawei store instead, and Virgin would help if Huawei don't. I made a complaint for it not being fixed the first time and the worker lying about what the report said.
4. I called Huawei support since nearest Huawei store is too far to go without checking what they will do first. They said it isn't a known issue and I need to contact Virgin Mobile and not Huawei.
5. I decide to go to a different Virgin Mobile store. They say they can't accept it from me today since the repair company didn't update the system to say that they sent it back to me, so a new support request can't be made today, so they will email the repairer to update it and for me to visit the store next week to drop off my phone.
They only now sending me back a phone all they did to was another fucking factory reset.

what percentage of battery is android system and Android OS using for you guys? they're taking up 4% each with screen taking 9% after 7 hours with 40% left and 2.5 hours of screen time

doesn't seem quite right

4 and 2, respectively. Screen is taking around 8 right now, so I'm in the same ballpark as you.

Mine was perfect on the first try (and I've compared it to a friend's whose was messed up like yours to check) and I've had massive problems with phone screens in the past. They're out there for sure, just gotta get lucky I guess. Hopefully they're really working on this problem because at the rate I've seen it come up it really is unacceptable. Best of luck!

Today I got my 3rd Nexus 6P. FINALLY A GOOD SCREEN! No "banding" or dirt, no pinkish screenside, no coating fails. I'm so happy right now ... even if I hate AMOLED for everything (incl. the burn-in after a day - have to fix it with the burn-in fixer app), this thing is now really awesome (in sRGB mode). finally a successor to the great iPhone 3GS and Nexus 5 (both were perfect to me, everything other had problems).

Yay!

Anyone have issues with the range of sound? When the sound is at max, it sounds nice coming out from both speakers. However, a couple of down-presses on the volume button lowers the volume a bit too much. Like, there's a nice long range from no sound to about low-medium, but from low-medium to high it is so abrupt. The range in volume just doesn't seem to be accurate on my device. Overall, it feels like either high or low to me.

Has anyone experienced this? Could this be a software issue?!

The USB 2.0 to Type-C cable is rather short but works well in my car.

Thankfully, got another one today from the Project Fi Lego charging stand holiday gift and it looks a lot longer.

I just talked to a google rep on the phone because I thought I was, for some reason, banned from buying the 6p but he explained to me that they're all out of Nexus 6p and 5x's on their store, and they still don't know when they'll have some more.

At least in the US, the Nexii are sold out.

Goddammit. I was loving my 6P, until I started having issues with the camera the past few days.

None of my camera apps, including the stock camera app, are able to connect to the camera at all. It just shows a black screen with the camera icon, then crashes. Looking online I can see this is a recurring issue for several users.

This is so damn frustrating. I'm going to have to exchange my phone for a new one, but I really don't want to deal with the hassle.

Just got my 6p and I can't for the life of me figure out where setup nearby device is on my old phone (lollipop 5.1). Anyone know? I tried googling to no avail.

Shot of HK with my Nexus 6P at my friend's apartment. This camera kicks ass at night. No editing, stock camera app.

Damnnnnnnn

I got some amazing photos in San Francisco for the Playstation Experience. I am thoroughly impressed, Pretty much just pull out of pocket double tap power button and shoot. Can't wait to use it in Cancun in about 10 hours.

Not sure why the performance is staring to go to shit. It started off with delays (I'm guessing it does this to make sure the animations are always smooth) and then it started giving black screen s for a few seconds (when switching between apps) and just acting sluggish in general. I guess Android is always going to be Android(even when stock) *sigh*. No matter how fast the CPU is. I'm pretty sure rebooting fixed it but only temporarily.

So what's the update on your phone?

Still having issues? Maybe you should try to talk to Google and explain them your situation, imo
Since I got it on a plan with Virgin Mobile, I doubt Google will help.

I'm still having issues. On Tuesday of last week I rang Virgin Mobile to tell them they didn't fix it a second time, they begged me for a second chance, I told them it was a third chance, they said they would send out a box to send it back to them one more time and they would compensate me. The compensation would be one free month for the plan. I brought up a replacement if it isn't fixed next time but they refused.

I looked up the law after and think that the law here makes a good case for me getting a replacement because they must refund or replace if they are unable to repair in a 'reasonable time'.

The box to send the phone to them in has not arrived here yet and I don't have shipping information for it. I'll call them about that to see if it arrived but was stolen or what. I havactivated a micro sim to use my Nexus 5 last time my 6P was sent off and now they would only send me a nano sim card for it when they send the phone back to me again so it isn't useful in the meantime.

EDIT: I called them today and they didn't send out the satchel to me. They didn't seem to have the previous call on their record even though the person I spoke to last week said she was writing it all down. They said they would send it out and expedite it but towards the end of the call said they needed the primary account holder to authorise it and I am just a secondary account holder. The free month promise was probably not written down too.

FYI

Nexus 6P is currently $50 off from the Google Store (US only, I think).

If you purchased on or after December 1st, Google will refund you $50. Just did this today with a 5 minute live chat with Google. Super easy experience.

Thanks for posting! Just got my 6P today. I used the Project Fi chat and it was super easy like you said. What a completely different customer service experience than what I'm used to...

Hmmm... I got mine on Huawei's store.

Also there's like s really small nick on the the bottom of the phone that's only noticeable if you look really hard. It's a bit annoying but I don't know maybe I'm just being picky.

Did it come like that? If so you may have a case for an exchange.

It did, and this is my second phone. Idk... It's really really small and barely noticeable. I can take a picture and show you all but I'm sure I'm just being picky but at the same time, it's like a scratch you can't scratch, lol.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just wanted to let you folks know that after I wiped the cache partition on my Nexus 6P, I started getting better battery life (about 5+ SOT). Before the wipe, I was getting 3-4 hours of on screen time. FYI, I am using google fi, mostly doing texting and web surfing if that matters.

YMMV:

After being run around further, I am now being sent a satchel again and they said if it isn't repaired for a third time then I will be offered a replacement of an equivalent phone, or they would buy back the contract and offer a new one. Hopefully equivalent means a 6P. Because it is over the holidays I won't get my phone back from the factory reseters repair until the first or second week of January.

One free month of the plan has been given to me (not including handset cost). That's $60 which is half of the cost of the handset payments over the 24 months ($5 x 24= $120) which is good when you think about it like that.

I found a small dent on mine after getting it back the second time. I keep it in the official case and haven't done anything to it. I can't really focus on it well.

Is this phone finally available on tmobile? my note three is becoming a POS and I really don't wanna continue with Samsung or jump to Iphone.

I've heard rumors of a late January/early February release but cannot find the original XDA post. Alternatively, you can buy it from google and activate on tmobile (with band 12 + wifi calling both working).

What's the consensus color? Graphite is a fingerprint magnet so what? Frost or Aluminum?

I think Aluminum is the more popular one. I chose Graphite but preferred the look of the aluminum after that and sorta regret my purchase. I covered the back with a dbrand skin anyways.

I have a weird issue with my 6P. When I answer or initiate a call, the screen goes completely blank even without me holding it to my ear. Any suggestions?
