Even though he's rich as fuck, George always seemed really salty that people rejected the prequels (the ones that were primarily his) and embraced the originals (the ones that other people had more impact on). So I imagine he's salty seeing someone else do Star Wars better than him.

By making an exact copy of ANH? Nah.

Some viewers did not like that Kylo removed his mask. I loved it. Made him more human and vulnerable which is what I believe the film was trying to portray.

He looked lost and confused at times without the mask and yet powerful.

Why did Finn want to run away to the Outer Rim? I feel like I missed something in that whole bar scene. Why did Rey go to the basement?

"...........That's not how the force works!" Hahahahaha

I know people like to cry out and say "but-but, Han must be alive!"

He took a saber to the guts.
Then fell at least like, a couple hundred feet.
Then everything blew the fuck up.

This wasn't some Glen from The Walking Dead scenario where it was shot ambiguously to give you a suggestion that maybe he made it out.
Guy is toasted. Plus, he isn't a Jedi, he doesn't have the force in him, so I wouldn't expect his ghostly visage in Episode VIII either.

Just picture it. You've trained all your life (against your will, but let's put that aside) to be a stormtrooper. You've been cleaning latrines and drains for the last year. You're a crack shot with the rifle and a badass with your stun rod. You're finally going into active combat. Hell you're a TIE pilot, you get to fly around with your ship making a cool howling sound all day. You're ready to shoot some rebel scum today.

Only someone just delivered Kylo Ren his morning coffee, and forgot he takes two sugars in it.
And he's sitting at the table in the Star Destroyer mess hall right next to yours.

any theories on Snoke yet?

Need to know more about that guy

I legitimately thought he was a giant until the holo projector shut off. Guess they've upgraded holo technology since RotJ

I'm glad he removed his mask just for that moment where he finds Finn (or was it Rey, can't remember) and he was sweaty as fuck with a bunch of his hair stuck to his forehead. He looked like he was having a panic attack, it was awesome.

Also, his mask weighing a ton was also cool.

I liked it but now he is pretty well damaged I believe that's the last we'll see of his true face.

I can't stop listening to Reys theme - so good!

Have they spoken much about plans for the next movies? I hope the scripts and story's are basically done and they aren't just winging it?

Why did Finn want to run away to the Outer Rim? I feel like I missed something in that whole bar scene. Why did Rey go to the basement?

Finn was a wanted deserter so he wanted to go off the grid to avoid capture. Rey heard the sound of a child crying in the basement (via the Force).

Ending characters doing miraculous things at the end of a movie of a trilogy is kind of a star wars thing at this point.

Anikan flying the naboo fighter (this one is all over horrible)
Luke taking down the death star in ANH
Now ray fighting Kylo

A lot of people in my theater ended up laughing after the reveal because the "that ships a piece of junk" line suddenly clicked for everyone
yup, it was a nice moment, because it gave a staggered reveal to please the entire audience.

Those closely familiar with Star Wars knew right after Rey yelled that line.
Those less familiar knew seeing the Falcon.

I think it was a lovely way to please everyone.

Finn wanted to get away from the First Order.

I think the implication was Rey was drawn to the lightsaber by the force.

yup, Finn just wanted to get as far away from the First order as possible, and Rey heard voices (her own voice, actually) coming from down the cellar.
besides, i'm not sure that Finn knew he'd be welcomed with open arms by the resistance.

They might have just interrogated or incarcerated him.

Rian's Episode VIII script is done. Mark Hamill was in Skellig-Michael a month or so ago but they start filming properly in January. I expected he's got a brief story treatment for IX at the moment.

I also didn't hear his reason for wanting to leave.

Rey heard whimpers and followed the sounds to the Lightsaber.

It's possible Luke Skywalker was "already in hiding" by the time she was born. Like, he was posing as another name hiding in Jakku, just as Obi Wan had. Met someone, had Rey. So she recognizes him but never knew he was THE Luke Skywalker. Someone was close to finding him, he fled for whatever reason leaving Rey behind but with a trail to find him one day.

She shows up and recognizes him but now has the understanding holy crap my dad isn't Ben Kenobi the desert hermit but THE Obi Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master. But you know,Luke Skywalker.
The timeline doesn't work since Ben is at most only a few years older and Luke only went into hiding when he went rogue, which was within the last few years or even more recent.

Kinda interesting seeing just how much people value "general plot" in movies.

Fucking loved TFA. Great characters. Fun as hell. Really great concepts for them to play around with in the sequels. Can't fucking wait.

Probably 3rd favorite for me behind Empire and Jedi.

Be interesting seeing Rey and Chewies chemistry, Rey isnt exactly a comic foil for Chewie, she can do comedy but its more in the "shhh" line she gave BB8 than comebacks and dialogue.

finn wanted to get away as far as possible from the first order

rey heard the audio playback of anakin slaughtering younglings coming from the speakers of the lightsaber in the basement

Anyone else not feeling Snoke being CG?

CG characters never feel as menacing, although I wonder if they will nail Thanos.

I'm more worried about his size than him being CG. How are you going to have Luke, Rey, or whoever fight against a giant?

Assuming the hologram projection wasn't increasing his size for effect, and that's actually how big/tall he is.

I definitely liked it. Was a cool reveal, and not really what I expected.

It was a little annoying that he wasn't wearing the mask a couple times after though. The only other time it made sense was during the scene with Han.

what? wasn't it her own line when she watched 'her parents' take off from Jakoo?
like 'no, come back!" or something?

I predict that the trailers for episode 8 will be analyzed to hell. Even more so than episode 7 even.

Those loose ends are going to leave everyone even more thirsty. Before it was just a great vague mystery, now it's focused thirst.

So why exactly do you need saber proficiency to be counted as a Jedi? Because really that's kinda silly. It's not any different from a regular sword, other than being lightweight. It's just a weapon, and TFA even goes way out of its way to highlight that - Finn swings it without cutting off his feet so what gives? I really don't understand the whole "This character is/isn't good with the Force because of their lightsaber skills". This is the kinda silly garbage that prequels would peddle.

Hard mode: EU doesn't count.

Yeah, I could see this. The problem I see is the timing and what you see in Rey's vision.

It appears Rey is taken from her parents? But she claims she was left. Also, I did not see recognition in her face at the end there. Fear yes, but not recognition. Luke did seem to recognize her though. He actually looked shocked.

I don't think Luke has been gone for more than ten years. Hell, he could have only left two years before the events of the movie. Without knowing exactly when Luke left its hard to speculate on who Rey is.

I had originally thought the big bad dark side of the force user would be a Vader apprentice, but he shows more confidence than Vader. I think it willl be revealed he was secret Palp apprentice.

Thank you! Glad to hear they have a direction and plan - as obvious as that should be ive been burnt by loving media that ruins it by winging it!

I honestly hope Rey doesn't turn out to be a Skywalker, it'd be way too obvious. But then again, It was pretty obvious that Kylo was going to basically be Jacen Solo.

Well, leaving the theater I had two thought in mind:

"Pretty good try" and "close enough". It was a bit of a mess in too many spots that kept all the great parts from becoming a wonderful whole, but I really did like so many things about this one.

After watching all of the movies in a row, ANH was easily the most fun watch on the big screen. People were really into it too. ESB has some slower parts and I did fall asleep for part of it. RoTJ just drags, prequel style, through a good chunk in the middle.

I'm wondering if he really is that size, too. At first I felt a bit iffy about it but it grew on me, it made him feel like an ancient evil. Something that was unlike anything else in the Galaxy.

of course he is not that big, that scene was a callback to vader talking tot he emperor on the executor in TESB.
I'd say it's more likely he is yoda size at the moment.

Joke post? Because I can't remember exactly what she heard there haha

big ass holograms are cool.

He's about seven feet tall according to Serkis. It's increased in size like the Emperor in Empire.

I'm not feeling it because, not only was his design totally bland and uninteresting, the CG looked like absolute shit to me. Not much better than the creatures in I Am Legend (which, funnily enough it kind of looks like)

I would have liked it if the first time he removes his mask to rey, we had only seen the back of his head and then he slips it back on, with the first time we actually see his full face is during the scene with han solo.

I can see Snoke being small rather than large.

I hope with Snoke we see someone who is "screw lightsabers", and is purely a force user. That's something I think has been missing from the films.
