I think Rey has already been trained by Luke at a young age but has no memory of it. She picks up a saber and starts dueling with it as if she has had some training before.
I think Luke put her into hiding after the shit with Kylo went down. Maybe her memory loss is from some kind of injury?

Yeah, but wouldn't he have gone back and got it between Empire and Jedi instead of building a new one? I guess he might have insisted on finding it because it was his dad's and Obi-Wan gave it to him, but it seems weird to me he'd try to retrieve it after already building a new one. I really hope that Rey keeps being a "nobody", and that the backstory with the family abandoning her doesn't get much explored. This will makes the character more interesting, it will keep in line with the bartender lines "you have to look foward" and "they won't return".

Making her a daughter of Han Solo or Luke will be so predictable and it will kill the main character with the "you're special" kind of cliche. It will also reduce the greatness of the franchises universe, where everything is somehow related to each other. Sometimes just having some sort of obtuse or vague explanation, letting the rest for the people's imagination, is the best and most interesting way to go.

I'd argue that Kylo Ren is the best possible way to elevate the standing of that original bad ass villain while not repeating themselves, and at the same time bringing a worthwhile motivation to the table for that villainry. In the PT, aside from Sheev you never really felt an emotional connection to any of his apprentices.

Yeah the force is strong in the Skywalker family, but there could still be a handful of other Jedi or families with a strong connection to the force in the entire galaxy. Luke is offcourse "well-known" (or atleast his legend) because of what happened, but a handful of Jedi could have remained in hiding during the OG trilogy. Yoda was always in hiding until Luke searched him out. And not even Vader or the Emperor knew Yoda was still alive, so could other Jedi.

Heck even Kenobi stayed in hiding until Luke came and searched him. For all we know there are more Jedi who remained in hiding, old disciples from Luke or from even before that.

I don't really understand why they cut the X-Wing shot. Surely they could have included it just before you see the waves from the stormtroopers' perspective.

After thinking about it, I think one of my favorite scenes is when the First Order mook comes to report to Kylo Ren all nervous, and we're expecting a Vader force choke scene because the guy looks absolutely frightened - and instead Ren throws a temper tantrum and wrecks electronics with his light saber like a petulant child. Really establishes that this guy is not Vader.

Personally I loved the bromance between Poe and Finn, I thought it was pretty believable considering what they went through together. But I'm not that hard to please.

Their chemistry is great but they didn't really go through anything together. They escaped on a tie fighter and that's it. Like it needed a few more scenes in order for them to reach that level imo. But the level itself is good.

Han didn't shoot him, Chewie hit him with the bowcaster. In the side, not too far from where he's thumping himself. It's a bad wound, you see blood dripping out his pants cuff.

Guess I'll have to pay closer attention the next time I see it, but I don't recall him dripping blood either. Why would he when he was shot with a laser and not a projectile? It also looked like he was shot in the leg.

what you say is true, but on the other hand rey is clearly more luke-ish when it comes to being the new jedi hero. and finn would be more han-ish when it comes to reluctantly joining the resistance.

In my theatre in Germany they showed an "sexual violence prevention" spot where you can see a husband slapping his wife and throwing here around the living room and in the end the message

Sorry, I forgot to add what I was responding to. The first part was about Poe/Finn. And like I told the other guy, it existing in older movies doesn't excuse it happening in this.

As much as I like Finn as a character, he definitely got the short-end of the stick skill wise. Rey has the Force, knows everything about ships and ship repair and can pilot. Poe at least is the best pilot ever. Finn's really only good at combat - except not ground combat because he didn't win either fight he was in.

This makes me a lot more excited for his character though because he could literally go in any direction, especially since he has no reason to hang out with the Resistance after the events of the movie.

The film shows a huge blaster-mark on his chest when that happened. I'm pretty sure it was his chest/upper body area and not leg.

There are plenty people who didn't get that. And there's no issue with the badass switch if you had been paying attention to how she realised that she's actually not new to the force.

I definitely thought he was shot in the side, where he was punching. Thought I saw a hole there in his armor/cloak/whatever during the final confrontation.

He was shot where he was pounding his gut during the Finn/Rey duel. That was the wound.
