Kathleen Kennedy is an honest to god Producer and is credited as such on TFA. Perlmutter is not (and is not credited as such on Marvel films).
Not sure if you saw my edit; but I added in that greasing the wheels and keeping things running smoothly is the job of a producer - she rose the ranks due to all the amazing movies she produced and is now the dream CEO for most creative types - your head boss knows what the hell is going on and what to do. Perlmutter's just a cheap-ass suit
There are also a ton of producers for The Force Awakens, lol.
J.J. Abrams ... producer
Bryan Burk ... producer
Leifur B. Dagfinnsson ... line producer
Tommy Gormley ... co-producer
Tommy Harper ... executive producer
Lawrence Kasdan ... co-producer
Kathleen Kennedy ... producer
Jason D. McGatlin ... executive producer (as Jason McGatlin)
Michelle Rejwan ... co-producer
Ben Rosenblatt ... co-producer
John Swartz ... co-producer
As for the Han / Ben scene - the novelization actually goes into this deeper. Han actually debates not confronting Ben because he knows how this will probably end, but he has to try for Leia's sake (plus maybe a tiny bit of unwavering belief that he can get himself out of anything by hook or by crook).
