Man, I wasn't even planning on buying much of anything but not being able to check back every so often to see new sales is a bit of a bummer.

So long as you don't mind waiting another year or two, it's honestly one of the most refreshing and human experiences to come out on Steam. The drama is subdued, driven more by the characters and what they say, or don't say, which makes the choices feel more weighty than deciding if someone lives or dies. Despite this, the world it takes place in is anything but normal, and I'm always pleasantly surprised at what strange places the devs take us to. I won't spoil them though. The sense of awe in discovery is something I think should be saved for the game itself.

If you're a fan of magical realism, literary analysis and slowly paced films, KR0 is the best purchase you can make. Act 4 of 5 is due very soon, and what's already there is quite substantial to ponder over. I'd also recommend picking up the free interlude chapters, available on the official website. Limits & Demonstrations goes in between Act 1 and 2, The Entertainment slides on in nice and cuddly between Act 2 and 3, with Here and There Along the Echo being the current bookend leading us between Act 3 and the eventual Act 4.

i just got it, thank you for posting it

bumping it up!

Here's one game I'm going to copy and paste things I previously wrote to try to get some people to try this severely underlooked quality game:

-----

Here's a game I'm currently playing on Steam that is way too overlooked for its own good:

Why Am I Dead At Sea

I'm about 3 hours in right now, and it's been getting very gripping. This game obviously has some Earthbound inspiration, but to explain it briefly, you're a ghost on a ship who is brought to consciousness by a spiritually gifted passenger on the ship to help prevent some sort of terrible occurrence that he senses is approaching the residents of the ship. You can possess people, but only if you know them well and reach a level of understanding how they work. Come to completely understand a person, and you can take full control of them. Each person you possess has a different personality obviously and recognition/relationship with others to allow different dialogue stuff to talk about, but each also has a special ability, ranging from being able to see what's in peoples pockets to being able to tell the tone of the voice someone's voice is in for a line of dialogue (okay, aggravated, hiding something, etc.). Even your spirit self has a special ability to peek into the mindscapes and thoughts of others (which is actually done in a pretty cool way). Featuring multiple endings and branching story possibilities, the game has enjoyable characters, an interesting and twisting story, and actually delivers many unexpected feelings of a range of emotions throughout, and has a really good soundtrack.

And yet it's barely gotten over 1,000 in sales and most don't even know it exists. Deserves WAY more attention.

Here's some screens:

nice 8 bit feel brought!

bump as well =)

Probably because not a lot of people have time to be glued to the Steam store, and don't like missing deals.

The app works well for this.

Removing the dailies and flash sales definitely destroy the idea of the sale as an event. I'll sadly click through my discovery queue, though.

So if a game is say, 50% off I either have to wait for another sale (Summer sale?) if I want it to go lower or I buy it now.

Is that correct?

- Life is Strande Episodes 2-5 = 11,38€
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky = 8€
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 = 8€
- Final Fantasy Type-0 HD = 12,50€
- Brothers A tale of two sons = 1,50€

What do you think guys? I'm really excited about that Type-0, Looking forward for a discount since ages

yo what

this looks great

I'm so glad they've done away with the dailies. It's stupid to have to wait for a flash or a daily when there's something you know will go on sale at some point. It's best just to have it available from the beginning. That being said, the sale does seem a little weak this year.

Pillars of Eternity or Divinity:OS? Decisions decisions... :(

So far got Spelunky and Darkest Dungeon wich i've been meaning to buy since forever, Tales from the Borderlands due to massive GAF hype, not a bad haul.

Yeah but publishers were more willing to offer bigger discounts if it was for only 24 hours vs 10 days. Cdkeys normal price beats the stream sale price for some games.

Whynotboth.gif :P Seriously, they're both great.

Was just debating this. Ended up with Divinity.

Checking the store every 24 hours isn't exactly glued to the Steam store.

dailies, flash sales and community votes

flash sales are like 6 hours each, which is less time than I spent doing stuff at work.

This is a very YMMV, but I am actually glad they are gone in a way. Makes less annoying to me to not bother checking the store every single day.

If the discovery queue cards stay around 10 cents, that's a nice free game from gaben (3 X 0.08 x 12).

They won't. If the cards expire like the post-2013 cards have done, they'll start to crash at the end of the sale as people dump them hoping to make a few cents ($.02-.05) off them from people quickly leveling/crafting badges.

I'm thinking of adopting a new policy where I don't buy games I'm not gonna play before the next Steam sale (or for the next 3 years...), but instead I add funds to my wallet for what I would have spent. I'm only allowed to buy games that will jump to one of the top three spots in my backlog.

Who am I kidding. I don't have nearly enough willpower and self-respect for this.

Probably because not a lot of people have time to be glued to the Steam store, and don't like missing deals.

True. Do not think only about yourselves people, you are very few to have the time to spent a whole week right in front of your screen to catch up a deal. It's clearer and cleaner that way. Good job Valve. For anything other than steam's fanboy, steam sales were a mess back then.

Is anyone else still getting errors when trying to add games to cart?

Also, how is Magrunner? I've seen parts from the beginning of the game so I know the basics of the gameplay and story. Does the gameplay change enough or does it get repetitive after a while? And does the story go anywhere interesting and get to some weird "lovecraftian" monster stuff?

I think it has more to do with the refund system in place. Buy a game for 50% off and then later in the week its 75% off during a flash sale, they'd be dealing with so many refund requests.

Most people can't check their smart phone every six hours? With the steam app it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Pillars is more serious and better in story, feels much more like a good classic rpg while D:OS has better battle system. But yeah I would go with both.

Aww, why have a 12 day sale if nothing changes :(

Yep, this is the disappointing part but, well, given I'm leaving for holidays it means I can buy everything I want today or tomorrow and be done with it.

Also, wow, quite few 75%s in my wishlist. Although of course because most are all VNs and those don't tend to go crazy on sale.

Still, will be picking a couple of thingies, just saw Aquakitty at 80% off.

What's the consensus on Broken Age?
pretty sure there's not a consensus for broken age since it's been a pretty divisive game

what i found myself and my friends agreeing with is that it's a really charming in that double fine kind of way game that has a lot of setup but then runs out of steam and doesn't quite deliver. the quality of the puzzles is pretty uneven, the lack of a look/touch/lick interface made the game feel a lot less dense than classic pnc adventures and the reusing of areas in the second act is pretty disappointing

that being said the writing and the art and the music are all pretty adorably brilliant

I've bought myself:

  • Ryse: Son of Rome (For the graphics)
  • Deponia: The Complete Journey
  • Audiosurf 2 (Enjoyed the first one)
  • Grim Fandango Remastered (Never played it before)
  • Mass Destruction (One of the first PC games I had with my first ever PC)

I might buy some other games for my backlog... I mean for me to play sometime later on.

FWIW, if you're European, the Might & Magic deals on GamersGate are considerably better, at -75%.

Highly tempted to bite the bullet and get Heroes VI Complete and M&M X Deluxe, despite the uPlay fuckery.

OTOH, yay, Nekopara is finally part of this Steam sale.

Man flipping through my discovery queue of survival games and F2P trash for one sad card makes me feel dirty.

No snow and no dailies makes this the worst christmas. Thanks, Gaben.

Yep even during a holiday sale, unless you have credit. It's good to do a quick check to see if it's cheaper anywhere else. Enhanced Steam works wonders for that on chrome. Since it'll show the current lowest price for items.
