I hate Steam reviews. Most of them are worthless attempts at being funny.

Some reviews still try to explain the game or give an idea of it. I write them every now and then in order to provide a little feedback for those looking for a game. Even with my poor and limited English vocabulary I still try to say something constructive.

In fact I just wrote one today and just say that the game is 90% Off so it's a must in my opinion. Cross-posting:

Hey my good GAFfers! I just finished The 39 Steps and, as always, I decided to give my little impressions. :)

If you don’t mind a game with almost no gameplay elements and you are looking for something diferent to relax in the cold winter, 39 Steps might be the game you are looking for. Sit back, get warm and grab a cup of tea or coffee because you will only need to move your mouse every now and then. You play as Richard Hannay, a man from London during 1914 with a boring life whose fate changed after a certain event. Now, he’s being chased by a crime he didn’t commit. And that’s when the story gets interesting.

The game reads like a book, and you won’t have any choices to make like, say, a Telltale game. You just explore your surroundings, read some descriptions, and move on with the story. The game does not lie about this, their premise is really honest and you should know what you are getting into, you will be reading a digital book with some clicks here and there. As the story goes, tension will go up as things may get troublesome in the road making Hannay finding different means to get what he want weather by escaping, stealing or using his wits and words with strangers. The visuals of the game are calm with vibrant colors. They are hand painted with minor movements like the wind and it will remind you of some old point & click adventure games. During your play through you will also find some collectibles by explorations. These are very hard to miss, especially if you are playing the game carefully and take your time to look at the scenario before being done with it.

After 4 hours I finished the game and I do not find any reason to play it again. It’s a different experience and it was something I rather enjoyed. The final chapters make the conclusion satisfying and I was engaged in the game from start to finish. When I finished a chapter I just had to go to the next one as I was too curious to know what was going to happen or how Hanney is going to find a solution for his current problem. Because there’s almost no gameplay mechanics involved this games ended being quite relaxing. You can be very tired after a long day at work sipping your hot beverage while playing 39 Steps and it’s going to be a nice experience.

D4, Shovel Knight, and The Long Dark are the only pick-ups for me this sale. Might change my mind later, but I need to save for the onslaught that is early 2016.

All these disgusting open-world survival early-access games in my discovery queue. Just ew no. :/

Oh good, I wasn't alone. I had no idea why it was throwing them at me, one after another. "LOOK, it's a game where you're barely equipped at start, and there's zombies, and random resources, and perma-death, and crawling through fields, and- Hey, where are you going?"

I don't mean to hate on the genre, but it was game after game of that.

i stopped writing steam reviews a while ago so i just do the short curator tweets and figure it's better for ppl to see my face and go "if zky likes it then it must surely be shit"

Now that is certainly something that would get me in an instant Kickstarting mood again.
i suspect things between obs and the mitsodas aren't super amicable cos neither of them made any reference to each other's projects and i feel they could've both benefited from sharing audiences

Dang it, Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin upgrade is exactly the price It should be now (considering what it adds for people who already had the original + all DLC), I already paid $5 for it during the last sale.
And that was after refunding it already after having bought it for $10! Oh, well. It's only $3 less.

So far it seems worse than the original though, Heide's Tower of Flame is disgusting now. Can't use GeDoSaTo either.

Man, I really miss the flash/dailies. :(

I hardly ever bought anything off of them (maybe twice during the entire sale), but really enjoyed the anticipation of something good coming up every day (even if I was usually disappointed in seeing Borderlands show up again).

Was hoping for bigger discounts on Galactic Civilisations 3 and Akiba's Trip really.

The amount of early access stuff in the Steam catalogue is just getting beyond a joke now though.

Word of warning, the discounts for Pinball Arcade Table packs expires on 27th of December.

You can't wait for the last day of the sale with these!

Wow, this thread is moving fast.

Anyway, I caved on the first titles on my wish list. So far, I've bought

- Fallout: New Vegas
- Her Story
- Transistor
- Papers, Please
- The Talos Principle
- The Beginner's Guide
- Spec Ops: The Line

for altogether around 37 euros. I'm probably going for Ori, Undertale, Pillars of Eternity, and Life Is Strange in a few days at the latest (I'm also still hoping to see a deal for Resident Evil HD and Divinity: Original Sin).

I like your style.

This sale is shit.

Grabbed Split/Second for $5, is the campaign any good?

How's Warhammer End Times - Vermentide? Only got a 15% discount but I want a co-op shooter alternative to L4D, any good?

It's a more melee focused L4D, I'd really only recommend it if you're playing with friend(s) though. Fun game though.

I'm wondering if Final Fantasy Type-0 HD ($16.49 CAD) is worth my time. The last FF I've played was XIII, and I came really close to giving up on it because it just felt "automatic", and quite honestly pointless for the first 10h or so. It got much better after that, though, and I'm glad I stuck with it till the end. So, I'm wondering how Type-0 compares as a game, in general. Also, did they patch it so that it could display native 4K? I know it can render at 4K, and "downsample" to 1080p through the AA options, but I'd still prefer native 2160p if at all possible.

Thanks!

I'd be curious as to whether the lack of Daily and Flash sales affects overall sales of games. Or whether it helped game sales since more people see the game on sale for longer. The lack of dailies definitely means I won't be checking in as much and probably not impulse buying smaller games not as much on my radar.

I'm thinking of maybe going for:
-Undertale
- Dying Light
- Soma
- DS2: Scholar of the First Sin
- Life Is Strange

Then again, I know that I probably won't end up playing many, if any, of those games for a good long while since I'm still working my way through Pillars of Eternity, MGSV, Fallout 4 and the WItcher expansion.

I mean, I haven't even finished Dark Souls 1, I bought Dark Souls 2 at release and haven't touched it, and despite all that I'm seriously thinking of getting the Scholar of the First Sin upgrade... just because? SOMEBODY HELP ME.

Well, to be honest when I write I always post on SteamGAF for others to read.

The fact that they are on Steam it's because it's easier to back them up there in case someone in the future asks "how is that game" and then I can always answer with, "I finished some time ago, here's what I think".

Found out how to finish my queue. If anyone keeps getting "This item is unavailable in your region". while on the page open the javascrip console and use this line

Code:
$J.post("/app/7", { sessionid: g_sessionID, appid_to_clear_from_queue: 251610 });

Replace 251610 with the AppID that's on the URL. I expect this to happen to a lot of South American gaffers so, here you go. :)
