WOW, I'm getting OOOOOLD, playing Mad Max I have hard time managing to time in the counter attacks... and all fights tires out my fingers of the constant button smashing, sure I don't might fighting like that but my hand is completely tired.XD

I think you're doing it wrong. Mad Max is no button smasher, you have to time your attacks and counter attacks accordingly.

So killing floor 2...worth it? and what game is it comparable too?

It's like Killing Floor 1. Or rather, the structure is similar to L4D--co-op vs. AI enemies, with the goal of proceeding through a set level against dynamically-spawning enemies. It diverges from there though, with KF having classes and an almost RPG-like character progression, which gives players a greater goal than just "beat the level."

The thing with Flywrench is that it gets so fucking hard so fucking quickly, even on fucking easy mode (I'm sure there're unaware savants who that may be a surprise to). The game (intentionally, I think) doesn't attempt to cater to a middling skill-level. You either nail the precise requirements it demands of you or you don't progress at an appreciable rate. It's a great game, but it's a 'challenge' type game.

There a summary for the non-German speakers?

Lords of the Fallen if I've played all the Dark Souls games? $10 seems reasonable.

I'm probably too late, but seriously man, wait for Dark Souls 3.

Invisible.Inc was the outlier and I almost didnt get it cause its still bit new and expensive but it does seem to be pretty good and iirc it's Nabs™ approved, whom I often have similar taste with

I appreciate that. It's not Nabs™ approved because I was too busy during that free weekend, but the bit I played felt really good. I still think you made a good buy, and I'd like to hear what you think of it.

I forgot I need three step authentication now for trading.

I only just added it to my account recently as well. Luckily the week required was over shortly before the sale kicked off. Shame they decided to implement these changes with not much time before the sale started. Having to wait a week to trade after buying something is a pain too.

I do feel like whoever handles Contradiction has kind of failed to really take advantage of the success the early fandom brought about by the Giant Bomb quick look.

No real sales, then they jump into an indie bundle, and now not doing a sale at all?

I think maybe they thought their audience was older given the FMV nature and they don't seem ready to move on the goodwill it has garnered.

Good luck!

I think I've seen 100% positive impressions for Invisible Inc (within the usual circles I run at least). Well deserved. That thing is laser-honed, precision design. It's gaddam beautiful.

It is on my wishlist and I believe it's good, that's why it's on my wishlist, but no type of game I'm talking about.

Not an arcadey game, but everyone had fun with Contradiction.

oh c'mon now
*laughs*
I liked it well enough for what it was, but it's like probably worst possible example of a pure unadulterated fun game.

I'd argue Downwell is this year's arcadey hit like One Finger and Pac Man. It's also super cheap like One Finger.

Downwell? It totally looks untifun, frustratingly hard game, I know many people find those games fun, but that's certainly not pure fun arcadey game type I'm talking about.

I appreciate that. It's not Nabs™ approved because I was too busy during that free weekend, but the bit I played felt really good. I still think you made a good buy, and I'd like to hear what you think of it.

oh

I'll take my $14.39 back in cash

Well, it wouldn't be the first time Tim Follin failed to capitalize on his greatness.
I mean, he did stuff on the 8/16-bits that were so far ahead of time it's not even funny, but he's almost unknown, yet everyone and their dog knows Nobuo Uematsu.

Should I wait for the Android version? I feel like that would be a good game for on the go.

They were talking about that on a recent bombcast (I think it was a bombcast at least?), and they all seemed to think the action got a bit too intense for touch screens.

With GMG is there a problem if I purchased it? Just bought it but kinda feel bad now that it's probably the wrong price.... Just thought it was a good deal.

No, probably no issue. They'll just correct the price.

My guess is based on it simply having no real deep discounts yet. Heck, it's more expensive at Nuuvem still, and it's on sale there too.

There a summary for the non-German speakers?

First: Install Enhanced Steam! :D

Regarding games they interviewed some people in their office for their recommendations, so no particular order (opinions are not mine, just a short summary from the video):

  • Brothers, A Tale of two sons: Charming game and one of the most memorable gaming experiences
  • Subnautica: Survival taken to the deep sea, does many things right and offers a fresh scenario
  • Bejeweled 3: the f2p game without any paywalls, quote: "I am going to install this on my mothers PC this christmas. It is a casual game, but very addicting"
  • Mark of the Ninja: One of the greatest stealth games with great animations and variety. One of the evergreens
  • One Finger Death Punch: Simple, but very addicting. Great soundtrack and perfect game flow
  • Bioshock Infinite: One of the games that you just have to talk about with others. Great story, but lackluster gameplay. Play on easy :)
  • Puzzle Agent: One of the earlier Telltale games based on a short film. Basically completely comprised of small puzzles. Has its lenghts, but a very good time killer.
  • Risk of Rain: One of the best Roguelites with phenomenal soundtrack and addicting gameplay.
  • Trials Fusion: Simple game with suprisingly complex challenges Easy to learn, hard to master. Best played with others while passing the controller.
  • Skyshine's BEDLAM: Banner Saga meets FTL. Great pacing, but some unfair situations could occur in earlier builds. Now the gameplay seems fair; highly recommended
  • MGS Revengeance: If you are on GAF, you know this game.. :P
  • Mirrors Edge: Timeless classic with unconventional gameplay. Great gameplay flow
  • Shadowrun: Dragonfall: Classical top down RPG in the shadowrun (cyberpunk) world. Great deal!

wait, now you are badmouthing Uematsu again? I thought you understood error of your ways the last time!

getting back on Contradiction topic, what do you people think they should have done? Just curious.

Someone mentioned Puzzle Agent? That is a nice, entirely inoffensive and warm gaming experience that I think everyone should play if the artwork of Graham Annable gives you a cozy feeling.

I thought sale prices weren't going to change? I bought TR Collection for $20 yesterday and now it's $12. WTH. Can I get a refunded for the difference or something?

Uematsu is God.

But anyways, no matter how the sales of Contradiction goes, Giant Bomb's coverage and the fanbase that's built up around Contradiction has given them something far better than just good sales: positive word of mouth. If they go to crowdfunding for Contradiction 2, or just release it normally, it will be something fans, and thus others, take note of, and give them a leg up against everything else.

Contradiction 2: Contradiction cannot come soon enough.

Someone explain Crypt of Necrodancer to me, mightily struggle just in opening area >_>

I want to be able enjoy the game because the protag and music is cool as hell

you jump on the beat.

0pyEV9w.gif

Navigate Cadence (or any of the other characters) through the Dungeon by clicking movement keys/buttons/pads in accordance with the music's rhythm. Normally only one action can be performed per beat, though there are items that can modify this behavior. As with moving, you can only attack a monster to the music's beat. Every monster killed without missing a single beat adds to the "groove chain" and acts as multiplier to any gold you pick up while the chain is active. Monsters differ in hits needed to kill, the damage they cause and their movement and attack behavior. Adapting to each monster's patterns while keeping your groove chain active is the key to staying victorious throughout the game.

I'm probably too late, but seriously man, wait for Dark Souls 3.

It's $10. He isn't losing anything playing it. :p
I bought it, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to it yet.

The beats are simpler than they appear at first. The same "beat" is on every stage, more or less. Just need to get into the groove. By the end I was barely hearing the songs and just tapping to the rhythm.

Also will require some pattern recognition to deal with the powerful enemies and their timings.

The humor is completely different. Where the main titles humor is like 9gag and LOL INTERNET MEMES + some popculturereferences, tales from the borderlands reminds of classic comedy movies/Cartoons like The Naked Gun, Shaun from the dead and stuff like that.

I am not a fan of the writing in Borderlands 1 or 2 almost in their entirety (the last DnD DLC for 2 was quite hilarious though as a PnP gamer) but I think Tales from the Borderlands is hilarious and it just gets better and better as it goes on. I haven't finished episodes 4 & 5 yet but apparently they do a superb job wrapping it all together. 8.50 is easily worth the 10-12 hours of enjoyment.

I hated most of the "humour" in blands 1 & 2, and I thoroughly enjoyed most of Tales

Ok, I'm convinced! I'll pick this up once I get back from some holiday travel.

It's really fucking bullshit that even though they say there are no dailies, there are actually games that will get a lower price for a couple days (see Tomb Raider) and then the Ubishenanigans of this sale and Autumn, at least in ubi's cases the games werent discounted at all..

Like if you are going to not have dailies, then why allow certain publishers to pull this shit? Before, when dailies were a thing, the onus was on the customer to make sure he was getting the best deal, and Valve specifically stated this is how seals work. Now? There is no distinction to wait for dailies, so if someone had bought Tomb Raider yesterday thinking it wouldn't go down in price because of the new sale policy, they have been literally robbed.

Either have dailies or don't.. also it's really hard to see people's arguments that there are no dailies because of refunds when Valve allows this stuff to happen in a more surreptitious way than before

I thought sale prices weren't going to change? I bought TR Collection for $20 yesterday and now it's $12. WTH. Can I get a refunded for the difference or something?

speak of the devil

The reason I haven't yet bought Crypt of the NecroDancer, I'm tempted more than ever this sale, seeing its price, the game scares me a little, I always imagine that it is very hard and you die a lot and have to start over, and as I'm old and frail I prefer not to die a lot in games, sours the mood, brings unpleasant thoughts.
but it still is very tempting, as a game looks and sounds great

I just noticed Turok Dinosaur Hunter is on page 15 of top sellers..

What the hell is the matter with you people?!

Buy this game. It's s fantastic remaster and showing your support can only help the Turok franchise.

I asked earlier, but it didn't garner a response (and I think I know why) but I'll ask one more time just because I'm sort of blindly throwing a dart at a rare gazelle here -- can I get any input from anyone on Tabletop Simulator? Is it an "only if you have friends with it" thing, or might it still have an active crowd that supports steamfriendlistless folk who just want to browse and hop into other peoples' lobbies for a game of, fuck, I dunno, Agricola or My First Warhammer Smash Time v2.0?

ALSO!!

I kinda do this at least once each Steam Sale, but I do dearly love and respect and vouch for this game:

If you at all love strategy games, please, please do give Unity Of Command a try (there's a demo, even!). It's so fucking good. You can spell grognard without g.o.o.d. but let's pretend there's an extra O in there. Unity Of Command is strategic wargaming pared down to simplistics; elegant, efficient, engaging and exciting. Super cheap, super clever.
