The biggest clue to me that she was dropped by someone "evil" is we hear the junk dealer tell her to shut up, it essentially confirms she was left in a rather bad person's hands.

I remember thinking that the ship had that super reflective thing going on like many Naboo transports, but it was such a brief moment, I am probably not remembering correctly.

Random thought but the Batman vs Superman trailer came up before TFA.
Lordy that movie is going to suck

It played like parody. I half expected it to be the setup for a jokey commercial, like that M&Ms ad about turning of your cell phone during the movie.

Someone was talking about how they thought Kylo interpreted the idea of the force compared to how Rey saw it, and it made me think that I maybe misheard something before I posted this...

I don't remember actually seeing where Luke was but Kylo definitely talks about it later. (and doesn't realize what he's seeing)

... but nope, that other poster misheard or misinterpreted Kylo's lines.
Luke's location was in Rey's head by the time she was interrogated, no question. Whether it was already there or a result of touching the lightsaber I can't be sure, but I'm leaning heavily towards the former.

Yup. Which suggests to me she definitely has some connection to Luke.

Just saw it, was a decent movie I really enjoyed Finn as a character overall Rey moving from zero to hero so quickly was a bit jarring imo but meh its a movie afterall these things tends to happen. Biggest disappointment was Kylo Ren he went out like a bitch against a rookie force user I mean sure he was wounded but come on bro.

He was shot in the gut with a bowcaster that was one shotting people throughout the film.

I actually think Abrams made an effort to show how powerful the bowcaster was in this film so that people would realize how big of a deal it was for Ren to be shot by one.

Ren was fucking magnificent to continue fighting after that.

I just came back from third watching... so unbelievably good. Oh my fucking god.

I decided that I NEED to see this in IMAX... but holy shit, I couldn't find good seats until SIXTEENTH (!!!) January. So I got those tickets anyway.

Fourth watching, IMAX, 16th January. SO FUCKING HYPE!!!!!!!!

Saw it again, this time with my mother. Great movie, though the pacing sticks out a bit more. Still love it. It's just so much fun. Also to my surprise all showings were nearly sold out.

I don't really like the idea of Star Wars spin-off movies, anyway.

Makes the actual episodes feel less special for some reason. Rogue One will probably be a good movie, but I really can't muster any hype for it. There can be such a thing as too much Star Wars

Hmm. Maybe I should start planning my IMAX watch from now.

This movie is stellar especially the last lightsaber fight

I don't think the geek community still understand it now, it's so "fresh" for us...but J.J.A nailed it.
Star Wars is REALLY back...

I'm sure Rey's dreams of an ocean are something she already had on Jakku, simply because of the contrast of an ocean and a desert.

Tell me about it! I thought I would be able to get tickets for Monday :lol :lol :lol

Got home. Clicked on Monday. The site basically laughed at me. Checked every fucking day and it was all sold out... then I found DECENT seats on 16th January. God damn!

Well just got back from seeing the film. Absolutely loved it and now can't wait to see where this goes from here

What if Rey's mother is in Rogue One?

This actually was one of the first things I thought about on the subject on who Rey 'is' after watching the film. Who is Rey's mother?

For me, Luke has to be the father, with Rey being deliberately disconnected from the force and her memories in an attempt to hide her. Wouldn't surprise me that it was the mother who dumped Rey on Jakku (and stole the Falcon to achieve it). What happened after that though is anyones guess.

With this kind of scenario, it will lead into Luke emerging from his self imposed exile in VIII, as the main reason for becoming a hermit had been blown with Rey becoming force sensitive again and known to the dark side. Which would also explain why Leia choose Rey to go to see Luke instead of going herself, as the initial shock of seeing his daughter again and involved would be enough to drag him back into the war

My first impression is that this is a Star Wars film that gets a lot right, and not very much wrong. Outside of the broadest of strokes, it wasn't as similar as previous films as I'd been led to believe.

I also like the new cast of characters. They're a bit flat in grand Star Wars tradition, but I like how their backgrounds figure into the plot more prominently (unlike, say, Luke and his moisture farming that's never spoken of again) and they bounce off one another in entertaining ways.

But I'm especially glad they gave lightsabers "heft" and import again. It's been a long time since bringing out the lightsabers was a big deal, and they did a good job with it.

What are you talking about? I thought that what Kylo saw in Ray's mind was the BB-8 map... ?!

Definitely not. He flat out says he failed to see the map. What's funny is that he had it the whole time. The piece in the Imperial archives is the only one you'd need.

I'm sure Rey's dreams of an ocean are something she already had on Jakku, simply because of the contrast of an ocean and a desert.

What about the island?

I just saw it.
That was the best damn Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back.
Remove Lucas' writing and replace it with competenCy and you get the old magic back.
The first 15 minutes felt more retro Star Wars than the whole prequel trilogy combined.
Sorry George, but this reflects even worse on you.

I think what's different about lightsaber fights in this "7" is that Lighsabers are heavy.
They feel heavy because of the shocks.

Before, to show that, Lucas made the lightsabers shocked but stick togethers, like they "stop" fighting. In this episode you can see that each time the shocks is heavy, like medieval fights.

Wow. I walked into my theater 40 minutes before the movie started on Tuesday and got pretty much my favorite seat. I'm in Tucson Arizona. Where is it so crazy that you have to wait until nearly a month from now?!

The TFA screenplay is pretty bad. If anything TFA shows that George's direction was also a big part of the problem.

Stockholm, Sweden O_O

I wonder if Luke is actually alone on that island. Probably but maybe he has company.

He's alone. Having someone else there wouldn't be enough of a rehash.

What about the island?

The Force has been subconsciously guiding her to Luke. I don't think that necessarily requires the lightsaber to bring the island into the dream. It sounds to me more like when she's lonely sleeping in the AT-AT she dreams of an ocean and an island, and on the island is the person who can fulfill the longing for family that she feels.

It's a bit on the nose, but I noticed on the Bridge scene that half of Kylo's face was lit red, and other half was blue. When he stabs Han, his entire face is red.

Saw this today and loved it! Great achievement to create something that feels like old star wars and giving it some fresh air.

But holy fuck why is General Snot CGI? I don't get it. Why? This is Azog all over again and it really lessens my enjoyment. I can't take an obvious cgi character seriously.

I also thought his design was uninspired. Voldemort set the trend for generic grey-skinned deformed villains, just like the generic brown-haired videogame dudebro. Why couldn't he be more inspired?

Other than that I loved it and can't wait to see it again
