I dunno what's up with rock of ages. I played through the whole game a long time ago with my 360 controller no problem, but now the damn thing just won't work. Can control the menus with the controller, but in game it's mouse and keyboard only.

How's Hard Reset? I've been looking for a new fps. My other option is Wolfenstein but i'd be double dipping in that case. Condemned is also a big maybe

It's actually pretty good. It looks nice, has a unique weapon system, and has levels that are mostly linear but with a lot of small side paths for secrets (similar to Wolfenstein). It can't be expensive. I'd say go for it if you need another shooter. They added some new levels on that were also pretty great and really good looking.

I got a bunch of VNs from the Valentine's Day bundle early in the year and I'm still not getting any VN recommendations from my discovery queue...

I said it's uglier than the other 2, not that it's ugly.

Even tho I do think it's ugly as sin, I hate it's look

Well, everything is uglier than Ori, that's not a meaningful observation. From what I've seen, I'd say Axiom looks better than Guac, though I haven't played Axiom yet.

I hope that Yosumin, Front Mission, The Last Remnant, and Life is Strange is from Humble Bundle; If not, well...refund them and get them cheaper on Humble Bundle instead.

You're missing the Ys games if you don't have them yet.

After a lenghty evolution, during which I've decided to eliminate early access games and games that frustrated me with vanilla vs premium bundle choices (read: Dungeon of the Endless and Endless Legend - have I made a mistake?) I've settled on the following for now:

  • Reveal the Deep
  • Rogue Legacy
  • Monaco: What is yours is mine
  • Magicite

Also, this game I'm buying.. It's dirt cheap and I see no one talking about it on GAF. It looks incredibly nice, and I'm taking a chance on it. I hereby invite the rest of you to do so as well:

another day and three more useless discovery queues with literally zero games bought or added to my wishlist

if anything the thing that makes this sale the worst is feeling compelled to use this garbage system
I used it the first few times but now I'm just blindly clicking through. Useless system

i didn't like it a bunch. it kind of plays like painkiller or whatever but the levels are pretty much linear corridors which is pretty boring imo

i just wasn't really impressed with it, looked like it had potential cos the weapon types were fun and it looked super pretty but i found it pretty tedious since a circle strafing shooter without exploration is kind of not that interesting

at least with something like call of duty you get really bombastic set pieces and a crazy story with really varied locations and a gunful of racism

I know right? It keeps suggesting a bunch of disgusting Anime VNs like what the fuck?

:3
yeah it seems to be a bug in the system because i'm getting the same results as you

bought kentucky route zero (was on wishlist for like 2 years)
rayman legends
tales from borderlands (this better be good, gaf. i hate the borderlands characters and settings but ya'll said this was still good)
game of thrones telltale
metro redux
papers please

think im done

I will say that Steam Discovery Queue system has been surprisingly bad. I was thinking before I started doing it, "Oh, I'm pretty open to many genres and survival games, how bad could it be?"

It's somehow managed to narrow down the game genres I just do not care for or am very picky in, its been throwing almost entirely space strategy/shooter games, sports games, RTS', Sakura games, and on rare occassion sonething that actually is in my interests.

The system seems be really good at doing the opposite of what it's supposed to and try and suggest the things you're not into. >:I

I've more or less been away from PC gaming for the last couple years, and now all I find are survival games and 2d indies.

I'm currently looking at Space Engineers and Empyrion, as a space/scifi game would be a nice change of pace. Empyrion looks quite a bit more exciting, while SE looks boring at best, unless I'm missing something? Any recommendations?

All I've gotten so far is all the big sellers on Steam, the various survival games like Ark and Hurtworld from a genre I don't play, Call of Duty another series I have no interest in and lots of multiplayer only stuff, again something I don't play.

In fact in the 60 or so I've gone through, I've only added one to my wishlist Kingdom.

Seems more like a here are the most popular games on steam that you don't own rather than here are games similar to what you play that you might like.

the viking conquest reviews seem to be glowing after they went with the "reforged edition" (yea they did a director's cut for dlc) so probably will grab that

also wish steam wasn't broken so i could remove games from my wishlist i don't care about anymore :T

discovery queue is worthless, yes
it can't be stated enough

YOU BUILT YOUR STORE AROUND A USELESS FEATURE THAT NO ONE USES BECAUSE IT'S BROKEN

VALVE PLS

it's too expensive to jump this early unless you're a massive fan

and to me it's a sequel to a game i found kind of charming because it reminded me of like ps1 era games but i didn't actually like it all that much for the things that it did itself?

so while i'm interested in seeing where the story goes it's also a straight sequel so i know that there's not gonna be any major differences to that boring ass combat so i don't feel in any hurry to play it right away

i can just wait until it's cheaper no probs

in other news, i bought that mount & blade vikings dlc cos that actually sounded dope as fuck

like baddies do death cries and groan even when beheaded

that's awesome

I haven't bought anything from this sale .. (yet) even though I'd like to think my game catalogue isn't huge compared to other accounts I've seen. (575 currently)

I either want to work through my backlog or play DOTA 2 as none of the games interests me so far. The only game I'm looking forward to is Hearts of Iron IV for next year.

Just played a bit of Talos Principle (the tutorial level and then 2 levels in the first world) and all I can say is that I cannot believe this is made by Croteam

Yeah it's quite the departure, some of the levels have a Serious Sam vibe to them but other than that I wouldn't have known they were made by the same people.

Ran into an irritating issue and was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to get around it.

My missus has an older pc which is practically on life support, she loves RPG's and has been wanting Divinity: Original Sin for a while now. I saw its on sale on Steam so bought it for her as a christmas gift and seeing shes at work and I'm off I'd download it and set it all up for her so she can get on and play over the holidays... Except the damn Enhanced Edition has upped the requirements to a DX11 GPU and hers is only an older 9600GT.

The original release is supposed to run well on older hardware, one of the reasons I bought the game for her but it seems you can't get the original release anymore.

So here's my questions:

- Does anyone know if theres a way to download the original release through steam or somehow downgrade the Enhanced Edition to it ?

- If no to the above, are there any other workarounds that anyone might know ?

- If no to both of the above, is it possible to get a Steam refund on a gift and how would it work ? Would I have to apply for a refund through her steam account or mine ?

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong thread but seeing its the sales and the thread is probably quite active, I thought I'd have better luck finding answers here from users who have dealt with all things steam more than I may have.

Merry Christmas to all you regulars and irregulars! May the Gaben bless your family and loved ones
