Even Obi-wan was a douchbag in the prequel
Everyone was, to be fair.

I agree with that.
Rey is the most pure and "light side" of the force with Yoda on the entire saga. Even Obi-wan was a douchbag in the prequel (but he was cool)
Right. Let's turn the first female, Jedi-to-be protagonist of the franchise (re: movies) and make her a shitty person.
That's not an interesting arc.
She already flirted with the dark side at the end of Force Awakens though. It's how she beat Kylo Ren's ass. Before that, she was barely getting away from him for half that fight.
I disagree with that interpretation. After seeing it twice, she just seems to calm down and let the force flow through her.She already flirted with the dark side at the end of Force Awakens though. And... spoiled. Oh well. Lol
Anakin was pretty damn pure in The Phantom Menace

But she doesn't!The novel, which is canon, confirms at the very least that she felt the dark side and wanted to kill Kylo before the earthquake split them apart.
That excerpt from the novelization explicitly stated that she was using the dark side during the fight.
That said, that might not have been the intention in the movie.

I would love for some grey area in Star Wars, even though some purists believe the essence of the franchise to the traditional polar opposites of light/dark or good/evil.
Han and presumably Finn were dead. She was pounding him into submission, even hitting him as he's down. It's not filmed or staged like a big heroic comeback, it's her slowly walking towards him, gritting her teeth and she hammers Ren to the ground. Even Luke used his anger against Vader in ROTJ until he stopped himself and saw what he'd done. But Rey doesn't know what that line is. She has no context for that kind of thing. They separate her and Ren to prevent her from going all the way.I disagree, she used the force like Luke would do to beat a Sith. Yes Daisy show anger in that scene (and she was absolutely beautiful x__x ) but i don't think it's anger like...dark side. More like "i have to fight!"

This isn't Kotor 2
wtf is that novelisation? There is already a book??

You seem to be confusing "tempted" and "seduced." She can and may be tempted that's okay! But seduced? Not gonna happen.
And if you can't see why her turning the dark side given her place as a woman in the franchise, I can only assume you're not trying to imagine what it's like to have so few protagonists enthusiastic-to-be heroes! not be like you.
Ending of episode 8 will be very dark i suppose...

Honestly. I'm looking at this as an interesting arc and not towing a fine line. If that was the case Finn would be a Jedi.
What you're saying is she can't fall to the darkside because it would go against the character you want her to be.
I don't know where this character will go. She can stay the most badass of badasses and wreck shit. Or fall to the darkside or just be something in between. I'm just saying it would be interesting to see her character fall to the darkside if the story intended for it. I wouldn't be against it one way or the other.
If I were to venture a guess, just as a three-act story...
Rey falls to the dark side, but Kylo Ren realizes he's been used by Snoke and has been replaced. Maybe he's woken up from Snoke's influence, but he'll then try to break Rey free from the same trap he fell into.
The fact that she's angry and gets tempted by the dark side at the end of that fight bothers me. The previous scene shows her calming and composing herself (much like she did before she pulled off the Jedi mind trick at her third attempt) so it kind of doesn't make sense that she'd suddenly be filled with rage.

I think the anger shows up at the end when she beats him and is likely thinking of Han dyingThe fact that she's angry and gets tempted by the dark side at the end of that fight bothers me. So finally watched the movie today but I got a question.
Why did Luke go into hiding when Kylo turned to the dark side? If Rey could do some damage to Kylo and 'win' her fight with him, despite never having held a light saber or used the Force until that very day, wouldn't a Jedi Master like Luke have been able to handle him quite easily?
Other than that, I really enjoyed the movie.

She's channeling the Force, she's feeling it. But she's channeling it the wrong way.
Speaking of the duel, I don't believe I've seen it mentioned that when Kylo is knocked to the ground it's one of the very few moments of slow motion in Star Wars.
It could go either way, frankly.
I just wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a Prince Zuko with Ben. Hell, both have the scar on the face now too.

This is why I think there's more to Rey beating Ren and everything's fine. There's an emphasis on her movement and her intent that they could've ignored if it was meant to just her 'feeling the Force' and being done with it. They are definitely implying her anger and power there. It's not a black/white victory.
Their friendship brings her back.
Kylo will kill Snoke at the end of 8 and became the most crazy shit we've seen in all movies. I guarantee it: Kylo will be a mass murderer in both sides.
It's implied Luke was maybe away when his Jedi students were killed. and maybe he felt distraught seeing his nephew turn to the darkside..

That's a foregone conclusion though. The franchise is very formulaic, and victim to cycles. There's an established cycle of apprentices killing their masters.

Anakin kill Palpatine for good side
Kylo will kill Snoke to be much more darker than anything since Palpatine
*sigh* that's pretty clearly not what I'm saying at all. What you're saying is she can't fall to the darkside because it would go against the character you want her to be.
So basically strong woman loses (emotional) control and has to be saved by the heroic man.
Fuck that shit. Rey going dark would ruin her character.
But what if Rey becomes the villain, and Kylo the hero?
