Why would that statement be incorrect? Is your assertion that Valve is running a full staff on Christmas Day? They are going to be able to respond as quickly as any normal work day where the entirety of the staff is present?

The fact of the matter is, Valve wouldn't have the full staff available to them on a day like yesterday and would not be able to respond to an issue at full capacity.

For context, people were asking why Valve hadn't fixed the issue literally minutes after it happened. In a bad situation like that yesterday, I guess it's difficult to get people to think big picture, but that was the reasoning behind the question.

Im not talking about a full staff on christmas day, Im talking about having a few people there.

It's a big sale, they better have someone to control that everything works.

Ugh , I hate how Dying Light is banned here in Germany/Steam. Does anyone know of a trusted site where I can buy a key? Only one I could find is gamesplanet.com, but it still costs 30€ there

So was Arkham Knight not decent even after all the post launch BS?

Yes but after that crap I feel like it's only fair to refund and then later rebuy when 50% off. Or wait for the GOTY version. Maybe I'll try customer service.

You can't lose anything except whats in the package you refund. So if you have the other games bought separately you will keep them. Test it with the game removal thingy if you want to be sure.

Test how? This is what I see:

Only thing missing is Arkham City's non-GOTY. Which I completed, same with Asylum OG so realistically the only game of those I'll ever play again and thus miss is Blackgate but still.

Yeah if that happens (as I'm suspecting will happen when my GMG refund comes through) just contact Steam support. They should have a record in your account of what games you had before AK anyway.

I got refund from GMG and didn't have any problems. The process took a while but that was a busy time for AK refunds but other than that the pocess was really straight forward.

Edit: Sorry, now that I think of it they hadn't given out the "gifts" when I got my refund.

I was going through my purchases and came across this.

Lol what?

Then I remembered I pre-ordered it for Fanto and he sent me the money.

Valve likely has it set up so it is mainly automated, with a skeleton staff on site at best.

Their response time to an issue such as yesterday would be anemic at best compared to a normal work day.

Again, the entire point of the discussion was trying to get people to think big picture. It's hard though.

And my card purchases just went through. Time to buy Assassin's Creed Rouge and Unity separately since the bundle price isn't fixed I guess. Huzzah.

i want undertale , but right now i got nothing in my wallet

but i have $10 google play card , bought it from pcgamesupply but discovered i can't redeem it on my account because i am not from US.

i'll trade that card for undertale.

Wow! That's incredibly shitty of them. I was afraid that might happen with the Space Engineers dev when they announced their new game when SE was still in early access. They seem to be still fully working on SE though.
Space and Medievil engineers are similar games, and developer has said that helps them develop both games, as some building blocks from newer game can be implemented into older game.

I see the big picture, but the big picture just makes me think Valve is incompetent.

They allow people to go spend time with their family on the holidays?

Valve showed their incompetence frequently yesterday, but allowing their employees vacation wasn't one of them.

So i been looking at the sony hack and who was the lead authority in the uk, the ICO (information commissioner office) fined them £250,000 ($396,100) for there mess up, there seems to be very clear rules in place if anything like this happens to a organization and what should happen.

Quote from ICO website:
A personal data breach is:
“a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed in connection with the provision of a public electronic communications service”.

When and how do we notify the ICO?
You must notify the ICO within 24 hours of becoming aware of the essential facts of the breach. This notification must include at least:
your name and contact details;
the date and time of the breach (or an estimate);
the date and time you detected it;
basic information about the type of breach; and
basic information about the personal data concerned.

When and how do we notify our customers?
If the breach is likely to adversely affect the personal data or privacy of your subscribers or users, you need to notify them of the breach without unnecessary delay. You need to tell them:
your name and contact details;
the estimated date of the breach;
a summary of the incident;
the nature and content of the personal data;
the likely effect on the individual;
any measures you have taken to address the breach; and
how they can mitigate any possible adverse impact.

You do not need to tell your subscribers about a breach if you can demonstrate that the data was encrypted (or made unintelligible by a similar security measure).
If you do not tell your customers, the ICO can require you to do so if we consider the breach is likely to adversely affect them.

more at source https://ico.org.uk/

So we have unauthorised disclosure of personnal information, people effected not notified (yes we have a statement from gaming website but not everyone looks at them) but on steam itself? nope, emails sent out? nope. i hope the ICO go after steam for this and fine them because there responce has been slow and unacceptable.

.

Yes but after that bullshit I feel like it's only fair to refund and then later rebuy when 50% off. Or wait for the GOTY version. Maybe I'll try customer service.

I already pity you

I was thinking about contacting customer support too, but my precious experience taught me that it's total waste of time, mine of course, no autoanswer bot's.

That's why I'll ask here, I have this problem, I had it occur many times since that time valve started pushing all mobile is the future thingie on us: when I log into browser I sometimes I'm randomly locked out of market as if I never bought anything on steam (lol) or just recently bought and my full access will be enabled in a year or so (I wish I collected those messages, they were totally insane all the time) and so on. Usually relogging helps, but not today, today I had it all the time and after community went down I can't access anything, as during last summer sale.
But my question is about that random lock out of market, how can I stop it happening? Can I? Any of you has an idea why it keeps happening? It never happens to the client, but on browser only (different PCs too)?

They allow people to go spend time with their family on the holidays?

Valve showed their incompetence frequently yesterday, but allowing their employees vacation wasn't one of them.

I agreed with allowing people to go on vacation. I just feel there's gotta to be somebody in control over what's happening on Steam.

Yesterday it simply seemed like nobody was in control at Valve and everyone just had to race to HQ.

Space and Medievil engineers are similar games, and developer has said that helps them develop both games, as some building blocks from newer game can be implemented into older game.

Sure. Based on what my friend has told me about updates to Space Engineers it sounds like working on Medieval Engineers hasn't had a negative effect on SE. Just that my initial gut reaction was kinda negative when they announced that they are working on another game when their previous game was still in early access.

Bought a few small things from my wishlist:

Just Cause 3 -- MB-7A898685B08C9242 - Taken by Messiah. 160 entrants total. Trivia Question: Can you beat the Dongs?

Here's a link to the Google Doc with all the info you'll need (kinda).

I played about an hour of Grim Dawn and I'm liking it so far. The game has a more "arcady" feel to it than the more hardcore games like Diablo or Path of Exile. Your character regenerates health quickly and it's easy to see which weapons/equipment are better than what you're using - which makes for some quick action moreso than you typically see in the genre. It could just be because I'm at the beginning of the game (level 9) and I've been blowing through everything the game's thrown at me so far. I'm liking it so far, seems pretty rad.

Thinking about picking up Rogue since this is as cheap as it's ever been. I'd honestly prefer to have it on Playstation 4 but I guess that's not going to happen. I really liked Syndicate but I've got 100% sync now in it and the DLC and I'm looking for my next AssCreed fix.

Hmh since Fallout 4 got a sale price today, don't think it had any reduction before, and seeing as it's been topselling through out the sale, wonder how pissed people are at that?O_o

Hugely....i bought it for my son for Xmas and left it until Xmas morning to buy it....and i still got stung by a post purchase discount being applied. Fucking Bilko skills bullshit.

I was surprised when BIOS started downloading the Mac version, it only listed a Windows version when I bought it.

When you load the Mac version it is called 'Reload', and shows up as a Friends & Family license. It is apparently an extremely early version of the game, with sci-fi weapons.

Odd that they don't just de-list it for Mac users entirely, messy.

I log into Steam and see I have something new in my inventory. Oh what could it be I asked myself.

It was coal. Valve gave me a coal emoticon.

Well that won't stop me. Another five copies of Super House of Dead Ninjas being gifted to people.

I'm trying to come up with a good game to get for my Dad. He's about 150 hours into Fallout 4, and I can tell he's starting to get burnt out on it. I'm slowly luring him toward PC gaming, after convincing him to play Fallout 4 on his laptop rather than the PS4. He's using an Xbox One controller so the move over isn't that big a deal, versus trying to fight with the keyboard + mouse controls of Fallout 4.

He's played Fallout 3 and New Vegas to completion, Skyrim, and unfortunately Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen on PS3, so I don't really wanna bother getting him something he's already played to death.

He's also really into Borderlands, but has already played all of those to completion as well.

I've been considering the Souls games, but he's seen me play them, and I'm not entirely sure he's up for the task.

I didn't realize they ported KOTOR II to Linux as well, I kind of doubt my laptop can handle that at 4K on a Skylake integrated GPU.

Too bad he didn't wait for the PC release of Dragon's Dogma! I never experienced it first hand, but it's common knowledge that the console performance was terrible, not to mention 720p.

He should check out Morrowind, it's really Bethesda's best game by far.
