Hey, maybe he just got stranded on that island. Can't be easy to hitch a ride from there.
Poor Luke lost his keys.
What happened to Bastila's face? Good god.
Any why is her dual blade lightsaber green?

Ugh.

I was just betting today on Luke dying in 8th movie and becoming a ghost.

It's probable but I hope not, it seems like Luke still has a lot of work to do if they're ever going to actually reestablish the Jedi.

If anyone is gonna rewatch, watch Han's facial expressions and general tone when he's with Rey.

Especially when Rey mentioned she's never seen so much green. Han seems like he's sorry they had to put her on Jakku.

You could also simply say that Han, a man who has probably been to every corner of the galaxy in his lifetime, who has a son about her age, feels sorry that this girl with so much potential has been left to live alone all her life on a barren wasteland
by his good mate Luke Skywalker or not him at all
.

Rey being Han's daughter is too clunky for me. It could work but I don't really buy it.

Rewatching RotJ reminds me how perfect Stoklasa's imitation of the emperor's voice is, to the point where if Disney ever brings the emperor back they could probably hire him to voice him lol.

edit: I like the ewoks. Better than if they had wookies. They look and act real unlike the wookie who just looks like a guy in a suit. My main problem with RotJ is that freeing Han from Jabba took 40 fucking minutes. It's way too long. First the droids come, then Leia, then Luke.

The Emperor's been back on Rebels.

Voiced by Sam Witwer (AKA Starkiller/Wrinkles on TFU)

He's not bad

NO! I like Hans Zimmer's music well enough, but his style of music (and the way he produces it) is antithetical to the spirit of the music of Star Wars. Zimmer's music is engineered music (and often synthy). It's not a live orchestra playing together. Michael Giacchino is one of the few composers that utilizes a full live orchestra, he even records in analog (to the chagrin of some reviewers).

This.

When Williams leaves the franchise, they're going to go with the guy/gal closest to his style. Giacchino is a natural fit.

Here are 2 minor things that bugged me.

Chewbacca's crossbow gun was really powerful against the Storm Troopers. It was like a grenade launcher. When he shoots Kylo Ren, it was just a blaster wound.

Also, how the hell did they get Luke's original Lightsaber? He lost the damn thing in the fight in Cloud City!

The latter bugged me more.

Fake shots in the trailers. Neither of the scenes were exactly like it was shown in the trailers.

Not that far a stretch to think that a prominent space pirate like Maz knows a guy who knows a guy who works in the Cloud City sanitation department and found the saber somewhere trapped in the ventilation ducts. Should the movie have taken the time to spell that out? Hmm, maybe.

1. They buffed all the weapons. Lasers are no longer meaningless colorful blips on screen, and lightsabers as well are given more "weight" than before. And apparently Chewie's crossbow is now more than just a particularly unwieldy normal blaster

2. That's why Kylo is a badass / that's why Kylo didn't beat Rey / either / both / something else

Oh I don't think she's Han's daughter. I just think Han knows who she really is.

I think using that as a reason for Finn and Rey being able to hold their own against him is fine. I think they over did its power during the regular fights. They had Han uses it twice. Like he never knew Chewbacca's weapon was that powerful. It was funny, but weird.

There's no indication he does. He is just surprised at her skills. If he was Luke's daughter it would have involved Leia somehow, but she almost says "nah let Rey die too much trouble". If she is Luke's daughter, Han and Leia didn't know.

I agree it felt a bit weak in spots, but I really picked up on Rey's theme this most recent viewing, when we first meet here at the Star Destroyer and when she is traveling to Luke's island. Really beautiful piece. Also picked up more on aren't theme this time and think it is a good start. Will probably be more bombastic once he levels up next film.

I need to rewatch the film and pay attention to Rey's theme then. While listening to OST this morning, I got bored listening and had to turn it off! Seems like Williams was going through the motions. Maybe it had to do with the way the action was staged, how scenes played out. I just can't remember any of the music, unlike how I can hum Yoda and Leia's theme, or play in my mind the asteroid belt sequence music from Empire. Also, the prequels had some great tracks..."Enter Lord Vader" comes to mind in Sith, really loved that one.

It just occurred to me that Daisy is the very first Star Wars lead that I find being good. That might be partly because of a role she plays, I like Rey, but only partly.
Anybody is in the same boat?

sounds plausible to me *shrugs*
no, it really shouldn't, it's not that important and there are more important things that are omitted because of limited time.

he's given me waaaay more to like than williams has this century. but yeah he's not a good fit for star wars.

keep williams on it but make better use of his ost in the film and push for a more 'louder' sound hopefully.

i think hans would be good on one of these anthology films though. especially if you trick him into thinking nolan's making it.

edit: loud isn't always wrong. the soundtrack was often quite bombastic in the star wars saga. this went a bit too subtle for the series imo aside from the archive tracks.

I don't recall that. She says they'll do everything they can to get her back

Williams will be scoring the mainline movies for as long as he wants to.

He's earned that right from Lucasfilm with his prior work and history with the franchise.

What if Nolan does make an Anthology?

Soundtrack left a lot to be desired. The Maestro has had a nice run, but time to retire. Hans Zimmer or Patrick Doyle for Episode VIII.

Rey's theme, Kylo Ren's motif, and The Resistance March all all fantastic as is most of the score. The only knock I can see against this score is that is it not in keeping with modern film score convention but that's a good thing in my opinion. I thought the music was great and the sound mix was great.

I think he may be signed exclusively with Warner Bros. Then again, J.J. Abrams (and Bad Robot) were almost exclusively Paramount until TFA, so anything is possible.

That's exactly it. She basically says they're all going to die anyway.

Hmm another interesting thing. If Phasma really does have a bigger role in episode 8. It'll be interesting to see if the FO/Snoke find out it was her who lowered the shields. Possible demotion/punishment could be in store for her.

That's only if they pursue that story line though.

Or, she could be a good guy...

That's a better fit for a comic or novel, keep it out of the film.

One of the great things about StarWars was that they didn't hold the viewer's hand. The story took place and the things that happen happened. Everything else was filled in by other works. The ONLY reason Boba Fett has a following is because of the things that took place outside of the films. In the films he has a couple of lines and then flies into the side of a barge and gets eaten... That's it...In three movies... Everything else was in the comics and EU that are no longer canon.

Saw it today. Not really a Star Wars person, but I thought it was a good movie. I liked that they used physical costumes for a lot of the Aliens. Parts of it felt rushed and kinda silly, but overall an enjoyable experience. 8/10 for me.

I was thinking it would give her even greater motivation to go after Finn and co. If she gets demoted/ loses respect among her superiors that could fuel her.

And then I thought somehow she becomes a good guy lol.

It's weirdly paced, rehashes way too much of the OT stuff for it to not be somewhat underwhelming at times, but all the same its at least a step in the right direction for the franchise after a series of awful missteps.

I'm just hoping the next couple of films do their own thing and aren't half reboots of TESB and Rotj because I don't think i can stomach it.

That can all still happen, but they don't need to show it in the film. She should just behave as if it did.

My english is not too good to explain all my points but i agree with almost all the points of this guy (except the cgi complains) https://youtu.be/4mCQ5OLyc7g

Eh.....Finn as goofy as Jar jar? being upset that BB8 was CG in certain parts. And when he brings up the gender/ race thing. Nah. Dude kinda sounds like one of those #boycottTheForceAwakens people because it has a black guy.

Finn unessential to the plot? Come on now.
