It kind of bothers me that those who fall to the Sith tend to be like teenagers who can't control their rage... but I guess that ship sailed a decade ago. It was maybe even implied by Luke's burst of rage in ROTJ.
I once thought Star Wars villains were about shrewd and calculating power seekers... but more often than not, it seems like people who need an anger management seminar

The students who he picks for his "commandant track" are the most ruthless students who murder other students to prove their worth. They have secret meetings in a secluded tower called "Area Null", which is the same tower that the Inquisitors test/torture kidnapped Force-sensitive cadets in to see if they can be of future use to the emperor.

Agreed, but he's also the greatest enigma going forward as well. Gotta see where they take his character. No doubt his backstory gets a bit fleshed out. But I do think Kylo kills him by the end of 8 though.

I think it was well explained. In the OT Luke keeps saying there is still good in Vader, and at the end he tells Luke he was right. Ben feels the same, and Snoke feels it too, and Snoke tells him killing Han will extinguish the remaining light in him, which is illustrated when he kills him.
Hence why I think Kylo is never coming back to the light side. Vader never actually went all the way evil, good was still in him. Kylo got rid of it.

I know where you're coming from, and I agree. In my mind, there could be a variety of ways one could fall to the dark side. And Anakin's should definitely not have been the 'angry insecure teen' way. His fall should have been much more tragic, like a desperate choice that meant life or death for him or his loved one(s). The character of Darth Vader doesn't work otherwise. But if it had to be a fall rooted in insecurity, then it should have been more similar to Kylo's.
For Kylo, it works. It just sucks that, as you said, both he and Anakin had essentially the same problem.
One part that always got me on me watches of this. Is when Maz takes Rey's hand and tells her "deep down you know the truth. The people you're waiting on are never coming back". And Rey immediately cries. She knew the truth. Was just mentally tricking herself that someone would come back for her.

Uh, that sounds like the vision with Kylo. Would explain why the guy who gets killed looks like a knight, why that guy was about to kill someone else, why that guy gets killed by Kylo, and why it looks like Kylo then kills whoever he saved.
Maybe that scene showed us a scene like the one you describe. It's a Battle Royal.

The last time Han and Leia speak to each other. Anything Chewie post the thing that happens. And when Rey lands on the island and looks back and R2-D2 does it's little bouncing thing. Not sure why on that one.

I think I can agree. When the child of one of the original cast falls to the dark side, I can see it appropriately being some rather adolescent issues with rage and pride. That's a coming of age hurdle for children that many of us can relate to.
But Vader was introduced to us as a fearless badass... it kind of undercut his menace to see that he turned evil over petulant control issues.

Yup, both great moments. I find Rey taking the lightsaber at the end to be the most electrifying moment in the series to date. The setting, the tension, the music, the way it moved her character's arc...it's incredible.

The music is fascinating in that moment it's not all light. There is some hint of more dark sideish music.

Well, obviously it worked post-RotJ before TFA came out. Now we just have to retcon what exactly it means. Like, Anakin did bring balance to the Force - but now the rest of the Skywalkers must maintain it. Or something.
It was even worse in the old EU, since there were dark siders all over the place right off the bat.

Anyone else looking forwards to seeing Poe interact with Rey? I wonder how Johnson will differentiate their relationship from Finn and Rey's.
I would kinda like that if Snoke is indeed Plagueis, the fact that he cheated death is an abomination and he cheated the Force itself, thus the Force created an extremely powerful hero "Rey" , as a counterpart, to heal the galaxy and destroy Snoke.

One of the weirdest bits of redundant dialog is "The droid we seek is aboard the Millenium Falcon, in the hands of your father, Han Solo.".
Adding the Han Solo bit is super-extra unnecessary.

I'm not so sure Kylo's purged the light from himself. When he's talking about feeling the pull of the light I saw that as him having a conscience, his doubt, his uncertainty and his guilt telling him he's doing the wrong thing. He believed that killing his father would make him... whatever it is that he hopes to become, but a conscience isn't just something you can switch off.
Whether he's beyond redemption, however, is another matter entirely. Vader killed the Emperor at a critical moment, but he had to die too. There was never going to be a happy ending for him, he was never going to get brought to meet Leia or introduced to the rebellion or go into hiding somewhere, he had to die then and there. I don't think Kylo's there yet.

As far as Han and Leia is concerned, I recently rewatched ANH and Empire, and I forgot how much Han harasses Leia. If Empire released today like that, it wouldn't fly. :/
I'm a softie and tear up easily at movies so Force Awakens got me from all angles
-Just seeing a new Star Wars again in theaters and getting to escape to this universe
-"The garbage then." pan to the Falcon chokes me up immensely each time
-BB-8 doing basically anything
-Poe and Finn's friendship
-Rey getting taken and Finn screaming actually got me harder the second time. How much they care about each other really hits me emotionally.
-Han and Kylo and the bridge
-"As long as there's light, we still have a chance."
-The whole scene where Finn is kneeling over Rey checking on her while Kylo goads him on, then he slowly rises and ignites his lightsaber. Just perfect.
-Rey getting the lightsaber
-Rey using the force to beat Kylo.
-Rey and Leia away from the celebration.
-LUKE. The heartbreak in his eyes.
This is the kind of movie I'm gonna just bawl at when I watch it alone for some of these.
