Man I just tested out sRGB instead of the defaults, and I must say I definitely prefer the more in your face and vibrant look of the default color setting. I can't be the only, right?

I'm with you there. May not be accurate, but vibrant colors are nice.

As for cases. I used to go case less, but lately been using a Spigen slim case. It's barely noticeable but adds some nice grip to the phone. If you want a case but hate cases, go that route.

I ended up going with the folio sold on the google store. It's neat, quite thin, and literally perfectly snug up against the frame of the phone almost like there's no case at all. I'm someone who has never in my entire life purchased a case for any smartphone I've owned, so it's a miracle in itself that I actually like this case as much as I do. I also feel like it offers great protection for the phone. An added bonus is that the fabric on the inside cover of this case serves as a nice way to keep my screen fairly clean and free of fingerprints or smudges.

Yea, I don't care about accurate on the screen either. It just plain looks beautiful with the default color settings.

In general the human eye tends to be tricked into perceiving higher image quality when colors are oversaturated and contrast is higher. If you have sRGB a chance for a couple days and gave your eyes time to adjust to the more accurate color, I'd wager it'd be hard for you to ignore how neon everything looks when switching back to the standard color mode.

sRGB only looks dull and washed out when you first switch over from the blown-out stock color calibration.

So I want to get something to replace my ipod touch 4th gen with that I can bring to work and keep in my pocket. My job is pretty physical and I'm moving around alot. How uncomfortable would a Nexus 6P be in my pants pocket compared to something smaller like an iPod touch? Is it doable?

It's pretty big. I have an active job and work with it, but I could see it bothering others.

Setup is a snap as well. Know your mail server address? Done.
It was, the only thing that bothered me was the initial sync. It works fine since.

The other question I have, will Google Now snoop through my emails to offer intelligent cards? I'm asking because if it does, then that'd be awesome.

Other than my work calendar I haven't noticed getting any other cards from my outlook account.

It does, I've had it pick up on and track packages for me.

Edit: I should say, that's with gmail, not sure it applies to other email.

I woke up this morning before my alarm, went to turn off priority notifications and got no reaction from tapping the icon in the notifications tray or hitting 'end now' when changing volume. Even rebooting the phone does nothing so I've just changed priority settings to allow everything and hopefully one day it will fix itself.

Hearing best buy will have 6P on stores after the new year, will have to play with this phone before deciding if I should ditch my s6 for it

6p is the best android phone available..

I am sorry but no. the Z5p smokes it easily. specially for the international version

while they both have around the same battery size. the Z5p has a 4k screen, dual sim card, water proof and over all better built quality.

and I might be one of the few, but I will take an IPS / LCD screen over Amoled screen any time of the day. but this is just a personal preference.

the only thing the 6p has in its advantage is the updates. which is a pretty common for the nexus line now.

cracked glass is good build quality?

4k screen on a spec sheet but everything except the gallery is 1080p upscaled is ... i don't even know

LCD lol why would you even list that as something personal preference or not?

dual sim is for poor ppl and sony themselves pulled a 180 on their waterproof campaign

This phone is huge ahhh.

Is there a way to use the stock left homescreen swipe google now thing while using Nova Launcher? I set up a google now widget to the left of the home screen but its kind of ugly.

I use nova launcher to set google via a swipe up on the all apps button to get me to google now

Is that a Prime feature? Maybe worth it. edit: ¥600? Not worth it!!

Anyway my 2 hour review coming from an iPhone 5s - nice hardware and I like the little notification LED. Inbox / Gmail notifications aren't working though, thanks Android.

And I like that I can use Facebook Messenger as an overlay while still inside another app. So this....is the power......of android.......... (Line add this feature pls.)

So my Note 3 flew out of my hoodie while I was on my motorcycle riding on the freeway, lol. Thinking about picking one of these up. Is there even a need for a 64gb version? Do you guys actually keep music on your phones anymore when you have spotify etc?

Personally I haven't had the need for more than 32GB on a phone. I am using a 32 GB LG G3 with a 64GB SD card and it doesn't even get used. However I'm not an audiophile and stream everything. Things that tend to take up lots of space like games and comics I keep on my tablet.

Ended up picking up the 32GB 6P, but I'm sure most people probably prefer the 64GB variant. It is on sale, so yeah.

I picked up a 6P (previously had a 5) and it sure is a well-built phone, but after 2 days I'm still not sure about the size. There's times I love it (video, games), but other times the size is a nuisance (browsing the web in bed). One thing that hasn't bothered me though which I thought would is putting it in my pocket - I can't really tell the difference.

I really like the fingerprint reader, so if I do return it I'll then get a 5x.

Is the protection plan worth it?

I've shattered a phone screen before from dropping it. $90 seems reasonable to know I can get it replaced should anything happen for two years.

Is the Adopted case that bad? The Spigen one looks ugmo.

e: The Rugged Armor one that is. The Thin Fit looks okay.

So, I think I've stumbled upon a strange issue. My phone seems to want to use cellular data instead of my WIFI connection.

I've noticed the internet on my phone seemed really slow when at my house, but perfectly fine using my laptop and such. I couldn't even do things like refresh my Snapchat or check Instagram. I have very poor cell reception so if my phone was trying to use this instead of WIFI that would explain the issue. I turned off cellular data and now everything is running fine.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a more permanent solution? I've poked around Google with no luck.

I just realized an oversight I've been making this entire time. Whenever I switched to sRGB mode, the adaptive brightness setting was also being switched back on (I like to keep it off at all times), which resulted in sRGB mode looking a whole lot more dull color-wise than might otherwise be the case compared to the default color setting. I actually quite like the sRGB color mode now.

Didn't know that switching the color mode àlso messed with other display settings too.

Just got this for my wife as her Nexus 5 got run over the week before Christmas. I've got to say I'm really liking it and might upgrade to it once my N5 stops working well.

I do have a question though, I tried rooting it through the nexus root toolkit and it just went to a boot loop (40 min and it still hadn't started) and I was wondering if this was a known issue. i just decided to manually root it since I wasn't getting anywhere with the tool kit (did systemless so she can use android pay).

Is there a way to remove the annoying orange triangle when the phone boots while keeping root?

My Nexus 6P slipped out of my pocket while in the theater watching Star Wars, landing face down flush on the concrete floor. The sound was nasty but surprisingly, no dings, scratches or cracks detected.

I think I'll invest in a case soon.

Man, I was thinking about picking up the 6p while I'm here in the US, but best buy is out of stock in store. I actually should've ordered it last week so it would've arrived before I fly back to Canada.

I guess I'll just wait.

Yea, this is what I'm afraid of. It is so thin and sleek that it is bound to slip at some point. Had mine in a case since day one and probably will forever.

How long will you be around? You can order from the Google store and get next day shipping for like $20.

I was thinking of getting this phone, but the video where someone easily snapped it in two scared me.

Are the cases really not great for this model?

Someone snapped it in two? I find it fine for durability. Also there are plenty of good cases. As I said above I use a Spigen slim case.

Yeah. I'm at work without link. It was pretty easy, but I understand normal use won't be me bending the hell out of it. I usually like Spigen and Diztronic, so that sounds good.

Hmmm...

Leaving tomorrow evening. Not sure why google is charging 600 unless I was somehow on the Canadian site. BB and Amazon are selling for 450-500. But Amazon is Verizon locked I think.

Ignore that. That video is pure nonsense. Anyone doing such an insane thing with their phone is of course going to have a damaged phone. Fact is it's plenty durable enough for most normal use situations. These phones werent built to withstand the stupidity of someone who is going in with the clear intent of bending and destroying a phone.

If someone picks up these fairly expensive, high end phones and doesn't already realize that they need to be as careful as possible, then whatever happens is their fault. Don't let silly videos like that dissuade you from buying this awesome phone if it falls within your chosen budget. This doesn't feel so cheap where it feels like it's just going to bend from your average everyday use.

To be fair, it's from a company I'm not familiar with in addition. Just figured I would throw it out there. Seems Best Buy is having issues getting them in store anyway for the time being.

Don't buy that whatever happens logic though. Some phones have obvious faults, some not clear for some time. I rather be proactive in investigating than blame myself for a flaw in the product.

I continue to be impressed with the 6P's battery life. It has actually increased over time. I used to get around 5 hours SoT, but now, with moderate use I'm getting 6ish. I turned off adaptive brightness and have the brightness slider at around 25% though.

Whats your trick?

Are you on stock? Rooted? Google Now? Location?

That doesn't look bad at all. One of the main reasons I'm still clutching to my S5 is the battery life is still surprisingly better than plenty of newer released phones.

Anyone having trouble with the bluetooth connection?

Any car I use it in, it's spotty. Constantly drops calls, disconnects randomly, audio quality is horrible and it skips all the time.

Probably on the Canadian site. Google US is selling for the same price as Best Buy.

Managed to drop mine directly in to a dog water bowl during the holiday. It was restarting over and over about 10 seconds after it fully booted until I found out I needed to leave it off. Turned it on the next morning and no problems since then so far. It's been a couple days now so am I probably in the clear?
