Every year the Syfy channel plays a Twilight Zone marathon over New Year’s. But this year they’re starting the festivities early. The first episode airs at 7pm this Wednesday, December 30th.

The good news? This year Syfy is airing every single episode—all 156 of them, in order. The bad news? There’s a little interruption to the marathon when they air two hours of WWE Smackdown on New Year’s Eve.

And if you can't wait, you can always watch every episode on Hulu.

My favorite show of all time. I mean, Netflix renders this pretty moot but it's still cool that they're doing this.

Only thing on Syfy that's worth watching.
/s

Will jump in and watch on Hulu though since we don't do the whole cable thing. Hulu has all of the seasons right? It isn't some idiotic thing where they would just add the 4th season and that's it? I know Netflix did this with the Persona 3 movies and only added the second one.

Is that the season that had a few episodes shot on video?

I remember watching this marathon years ago when i got my first hd tv.

One of those was the first episodes i watched and i remember thinking.

Ewww. Hd is ugly. Lol

Most of Season 4 is also hour-long episodes. It was a really weird shift that came about because of some major production staff shakeups.

I can't believe they're showing the entire series AND showing The Encounter and An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. Those two episodes haven't aired on TV since the 60s and they've never shown the entire series during one of these marathons.

An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge is so good. One of my favorites.

I bought the DVDs a couple years ago when the Definitive Edition was being discontinued and still haven't seen it or The Encounter. They're still the only two episodes I haven't seen.

Every time I see this thread each year, I wonder why I don't own the complete series. It looks like the DVD complete set goes for around $100 and the Blu Ray complete set is around $170.

Does anyone know if it's worth an extra $70 for the Blu Ray set or if the DVD set would be enough?

It depends. If you just want the series, the DVDs are good enough, but if you care about picture quality, you should get the Blu-Rays. The Blu-Rays are the best transfer the series has ever had. There was a good site comparing the DVDs and Blu-Rays, but I can't find it right now. This is the best I can find.

Haha, me too. I should have bought this years ago.

I guess because in the back of our minds we know that it will air during New Years. We enjoy watching it on SyFy because its tradition.

I don't think I'm going to go through all of the season 4 episodes, but are there any that you guys recommend within that season?

Third from the Sun and Nightmare at 20,000 ft are the best episodes imo. The Obsolete Man, The Odyssey of Flight 33, and Will the real martian please stand up are also all very great as well. Such an innovative show that was ahead of its time.

I'll watch it on Netflix, and I have Season 4 on DVD. Specifically, i want to rewatch Twenty-Two, The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street, and my favorite episode, Nothing In The Dark.

My absolute favorites are Midnight Sun, A World of His Own, Dead Man's Shoes and A Stop at Willoughby.

The actor in Dead Man's Shoes is so great. The way he switches back and forth between a scared little man and a cool, suave gangster. He's so believable.

I love What You Need and Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?.

I have every episode on my iPad and just randomly watch them throughout the year at work.. but it isn't New Year's Eve without a marathon.

I've read that Syfy is supposedly doing some rebranding in 2016 and going back to Sci-Fi and they're planning on doing more real sci-fi stuff. Showing the entire Twilight Zone series is a good start, if it's true.

Are these in HD on any websites? Netflix?

EBF, what are your favorite eps?

In no particular order (aside from chronological)

The Lonely
Time Enough At Last
The Four Of Us Are Dying
Third From The Sun
I Shot An Arrow Into The Air
The Hitch-Hiker
The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
People Are Alike All Over
A Stop At Willoughby
The After Hours
King Nine Will Not Return
Eye Of The Beholder
The Invaders (I think this is the best episode)
Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up
The Obsolete Man
The Shelter
It's A Good Life
The Midnight Sun
Nothing In The Dark
To Serve Man
The Little People
On Thursday We Leave For Home
Nightmare At 20,000 Feet
The Old Man In The Cave
Number Twelve Looks Just Like You
I Am The Night-Color Me Black
The Jeopardy Room
The Brain Center At Whipple's

I'll follow along on Hulu. I was a latecomer to The Twilight Zone. I absolutely adored The Outer Limits (90s version) as a kid, and rewatched a lot of those recently, which led me to The Twilight Zone. Such a fantastic series, a lot of the stories still hold up really well.

I only get to watch pieces each NY because SOMEONE always has it playing on the TV and yet NO ONE is ever in the room watching it...until I sneak in.

And then a few episodes in my wife yells at me to leave and be social.

So I'm damn glad everyone went south for this NYE so I'm by myself and marathoning the FUUUuUuUUCK out this. With some goddamn Rotel and cheese, nachos, and beers.

My favorites (of the couple dozen I've seen):

1. Nick of Time
2. The Grave
3. Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
4. Time Enough At Last
5. Walking Distance
6. The Masks
7. Third From The Sun
8. Eye of the Beholder
9. Living Doll
10. The Hitch-hiker

Honorary Mentions:

The Invaders
Mr. Denton On Doomsday
The Bewitchin Pool

I thought so. They're cutting even more stuff than is already cut from the syndication episodes to get more commercial time in. I thought I noticed some stuff gone from near the end of Where is Everybody?, but wasn't sure because I wasn't really paying attention, but I noticed they cut the scene where the guy working at the soda fountain asked about Martin's bad leg at the end of Walking Distance. :/

Oh shit, you're right.

Man, "Walking Distance" hits hard.
It really, really does. I'm a bit older than adult Martin now, and this episode is always a gut punch. Those wistful feelings of a time past.
..

(I also enjoy all the old technology that's in these episodes. Film projectors, pay phones, sweet classic cars..)
