Mysterious massive drones scattered all over in New Jersey and Pennsylvania over the past week or so. No local officials or FBI knows what's going on.

I think the issue went from people wondering to people worrying about them. The governments lack of information didnt help. THe LA wildfires plane hitting the drone was the icing on the cake for a lot of people.... at that point the government saying they pose no threat becomes a false narrative.
If planes are hitting them, then there is an obvious threat to safety. Not to mention hindering public work.

Let me get on my soapbox. I personly think that flying drones over airports is stupid on every level. I mean if you are a drone enthusiast, then surely you can think of better places to grab content. You should also have a respect for the drone "craft" and abide by rules and common sense.
If this is just a bunch of dumbasses flying drones to be cute... then they should be tracked down and arrested. Its all fun and games until there are casualties and at that point it is too late.
The airspace around the airport should be just as important as the TSA position and customs in my opinion. Anybody saying otherwise is full of it.

Yeah it's a weird response from DJI. Also right before the inauguration.. :pie_thinking:
I think they are clearly positioning themselves to be banned in a way that will let them then 'retaliate' in some fashion.

The sooner we start treating China, and virtually every company within China, as adversaries at best, outright aggressors at worse, the better off we will be. I'm willing to accept a significant slowdown in global commerce if we can draw some boundaries to protect our internal operations, much less the internation digital landscape.

Dudes here claiming it was dudes playing with drones. "Big deal".

No, the story is interesting to some because we still haven't gotten a clear answer as to what was going on. If it was civilian dudes playing with drones, why didn't Homeland Security just say that instead of "We don't know what they are, but we know they're not a threat."

Threre was nothing to see in the first place. Social media made this "news". There were swarms, drones coming from the sea, motherships, alien orbs and god knows what more shit.
The authorities were just puzzled as they couldn't detect nothing unusual.
Just ban social media and all this will be over.
And with AI videos things will only get worse.

Because what else can it have been? Honestly it was just people messing about with some store bought drones. Nothing to report at all.

I don't believe HS didn't know these were drones. If you don't know what something is then how do you know it's not a threat?

More like HS couldn't be bothered to deal with kids playing with drones, but obviously couldn't admit that.

There is your story. The media made a mountain out of a mole hill.

Then why didn't the authorities shoot any of them down?

Yeah, a trillion-budget military and hundreds of pilots can't tell the difference between drones and gravity-defying objects moving at hyperspeed. That's far more unlikely than something's going on. By something I mean anything other than "hobbyists" whose drones can be tracked easily.

It doesn't make sense however you want to spin it.

Your story implies that the drone story basically came from social media and that the authorities "couldn't detect anything unusual", like you know drones.

But the authorities did indeed acknowledge the existence of the drones, the "puzzle" was an explanation for them.

It's hard to just make up large drone sightings all over NJ, PA and some CT. It's a giant swath of people surrounding New York who might have corroborated the story by looking up. I don't think everyone who saw one was "in on it".

Also LOL that it was just kids. This wasn't two toy helicopters from the shopping mall, nor was it a dumb 20 year old burning the 2k limit on his credit card for 1-2 drones. It was the work of an organization.

After my last post I jumped in the shower. The conclusion of my shower thoughts was "the most likely explanation is collecting intelligence". I come back to hear they're over nuclear reactors. That's nice.
Tbf there's nothing much of info to collect from outside one of those. You'd get the same info watching an episode of the Simpsons or a YouTube vid

Arcturus Mengsk is taking power and has already threatened you. You wonder about the current status, activity, physical layout, accessibility and topography around his nuclear resources. Do you watch the Simpsons, or perform a Comstat sweep for 50 energy?

Since drones can also collect intelligence, your assertion that they're harmless must not be based on their capabilities. Rather, an assumption of what they were doing.

They would have known what this drones were and if they were from another nation.

What's your take on it? What do you think they were.

If it was another country or organisation the US government would have shot them out the sky.

Just saying there is something more and it ain't kids. Even that they were actually our own for some test or exercise. Isn't China spamming drones right now? Maybe they wanted to see what their screen looked like with drones around the east coast.

But lacking an explanation, we still aren't sure. There are numerous reasons they might have chosen not to engage, such as the fact that they're harmless from an armament standpoint and would mean sorties over civilian areas that could have consequences (such as drones crashing down).

Jeez, people need to stop droning on about this now.

A Prevailing thoughti have had recently.

What if the drones are United States and they were monitoring cellphone communications and honestly, looking for large group of illegals so they know where to pinpoint their raids to start?

We know the technology exists to do this. To monitor cell phones in mass. More complex but similar to there machine in the Dark Knight Movie.

Honestly, this seems far more plausible than aliens or even China or the Sum of All Fears playing out in real time.

Edit: I am not saying it is right. I’m just saying this seems like Occums Razer.

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day
I think I saw drone last night. It had a red and green light along a horizontal line. It was hoveeing in the southeast it flew northeast across the highway and over some oil refineries then it flew off to the east. I had never seen one from the lights it seemes pretty big it definitely wasn't a helicopter.

Sorry. I typed up a reply ages ago and forgot to post.

Anyway, unlikely to be US tech testing over civilians. That's extremely stupid and dangerous. They normally test equipment over military space and military personnel are made aware to prevent accidents.

China using drone in the US would be unlikely. If it was some new tech, China would be showing it off at home on state TV to try and 1up the US. They wouldn't test them over US airspace because not only would it be a diplomatic nightmare, but there would be a chance of the tech falling in US hands.

This means they must be harmless civilian drones. Kids fucking about. Thats the only explanation.

I rest my case.
