Like other people, it went from a $300-350 Dev Kit to a $600 retail... that's rough. That's the version subsidized by Facebook money? I wonder what this would've been without the FB deal, even more expensive, or less functional?
At this point, I have to see what Vive's got going on before I make a decision. I really hope it isn't too late by that point, and I don't have to wait another five months like I did with my original DK1 order.
If you actually watched Luckey say it (I remember that presentation), it was very clear he didn't want to touch the subject with a 10 foot pole.
It was pretty obvious Facebook wasn't going to allow it on the Oculus store, but I doubt he's going to fight them on it.

Co-founder Palmer Lucky told(...) that Rift would be ‘an open platform’.
He said: ‘We don’t control what software can run on it.’
But a spokesman from Oculus Rift told(...)that this is no longer the case.
That guy can be trusted.
