Awesome Games Done Quick 2016: January 3rd - 10th.

You could just buy a pearler kit and make one yourself, and then realize you have no use for them because any self respecting adult don't decorate their home with pearlers.
You are such a self-respecting adult, I'm sure, whining about pearlers on a gaming forum. You sure showed them who's the better a-dult!

I approve of most of this list from what I've seen. Might as well bold Mario Maker to go along with that gif too. Those levels were straight madness.

Never got the appeal of mega man runs, I feel like it's only people knowing everything by heart and playing well, the gameplay doesn't allow much freedom and there's rarely cool tricks to pull off... it just feels bland to me

shooting at stuff to manipulate the RNG?
did the devs implement all that stuff?

and how do you even find that?

ramwatch I suppose
well the devs did implement it somehow yeah

pretty sure all of them deviate heavily from normal people routes. The zips are pretty dang tough to pull off and a lot of traversal strats are pretty risky.

play the game a million times and you start to notice weird stuff :p

yeah of course there are skips and all, I'm not denying the skill in them, megaman games are hard enough already
but it just doesn't look too exciting I don't know

Eh, understandable. You probably just like seeing a lot more bugs and glitches in your speed runs. A good chunk of some of these more popular 2D games don't have a lot of those. There's some stuff, but a lot of it is mostly good play.

What's wrong about criticizing what AGDQ, a gaming event, gives away in their thread on a gaming forum? Pearling is an amateurish craft and AGDQ is now better than that.

And you took this as an opportunity to personally be condescending to someone and attack them. If that's what you need to do to feel good, you need some more self-respect friend.

I love the dude with the distinct voice. He's always around for the MM block.

He has a yellow shirt on the stream.

What's his name?

It's not about showing off skill or whatever, it's about the charity. Anyone could just go buy the perler they want, it's just a nice little bonus. Lots of charity drives do this--prizes that are just neat little bonuses that aren't anything special, but are nice and relevant. I also don't see how they'd "grow out of" giving them away. As long as people want them, they'll give them away.

Glass houses and all that dude. Just shut up.

You're the one complaining that a CANCER CHARITY isn't giving out good enough gifts as donation incentives.

ZX has such a cool soundtrack.

Edit: Also, ALL of the prizes are donated to AGDQ. All of them. That includes perlers. What are they supposed to do, reject prizes that are supposed to be goodies to attract a couple more donations for charity?

Gunvolt is going to look really choppy after several 60 FPS games in a row. I wish someone would unlock the framerate. It's odd how Inti Creates has never said when or if the cap will run above 30 in the future updates.

That's clearly an attack on pearlers and not the poster.

What's wrong with wanting them to do better than pearlers? They are a cheap hobbyist product, I doubt anybody wants to win them considering how easy they are to make, and they hurt AGDQ's overall image.

mistakes were made with this interview

why the fuck is the Blast Corps and Star Fox 64 run in the middle of the night and Halo 4 in a prime slot :(

No, I just think it's dumb to feel superior to other people due to frivolous things like how someone spends their free time or decorates their home. If you were actually a self-respecting adult, you'd understand that all of that shit matters fuck all and how stupid it is to judge people based on what kind of crap they have filling their apartments/houses/rooms.

What's wrong with wanting them to do better than pearlers?

Because all of the prizes are donated by people for the most part, and only a few by organizations/corporations.

They are a cheap hobbyist product

I wonder if that is because they're made by hobbyists.

and they hurt AGDQ's image imo.

How? And again: What are they supposed to do with those prizes that are donated to them for free? Clearly plenty of donators like donating for the perlers, so why would they reject them?

You can't attack what doesn't exist.

Or you could just fuck off. I don't care for perlers myself, but you're just being a judgemental asshole who is trying to impose their own opinion on a fucking charity drive.
