Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

Apparently a reviewer posted the review copy on 8chan and someone else made a repack for it to work.

This kind of shit is disgusting, it will hurt everyone who wants a sequel from this and the PC community as a whole.

I hope they can pinpoint the source asshole.

Aren't you limited to premade pawns while playing offline?

Not too sure if I'd like to play Dragon's Dogma like that.

You get to make your own pawn regardless, but beyond that, yeah premade pawns. If you go online and grab some player made pawns they don't disappear if you go offline, though.

Hmm....I like it!

Seems like Strider will be where I start with my character. My comfort zone is a good ole fashioned sword but it seems like I'll be missing out on the bow and arrow stuff...plus I'd rather have a character that isn't just running around in standard bulky armor

If you want a sword but still want a bow and don't like heavy armor, there's an advanced class for you: Assassin. Can use swords, shields, dual daggers, and short bows all in one package. Oh, and you get gunpowder bombs. And invisibility, if you're into that.

That's.... Yeah....

Pretty sad that fans have been harassing them for years about a PC port of the game and it is cracked a week before release. They probably gave review copies to the wrong people. I doubt a leak like this is from PCgamer or something like IGN.

With a couple of miners attached

Is it confirmed. 4chan keeps posting this in their thread but no one is confirming. No sympathy for the people stuck with it but my guess is that a bitcoin miner would affect performance since it uses your GPU.

A little dramatic, don't you think? Every PC game gets cracked and pirated, they still manage to make money on them. It's just usually not a week early.

Yeah, I figure I'll end up at either Assassin or Magick Archer. How long does it generally take to get to an advanced class? Is it more endgame or obtainable fairly early on

I'll prob mess with Warriors+Longswords at some point but beyond the mega-smash gif move it doesn't look too varied

Any example of a game releasing early because of this?

Now I understand why many publishers use Denuvo :(

I know it's happened once or twice before, but my mind is blank. The game having a physical release is unfortunate as distribution partners/retailers are liable to kick up a fuss if Capcom unlocks the game on Steam five days early -- this is why leaks and even broken street dates virtually never have an impact on digital release dates. But who knows, maybe DD will be one of the exceptions.

Every sale lost to cheapskates that get to play it for free has an impact on the possibility of there ever being a DD2, I normally dont get upset about freeloaders and pirating, but this game deserves another chance and it took a lot of activity from the community to even get Capcom to make this port in the first place.

It'll basically assure people the port is good anyway. If anything it might help sales. The pirates were going to pirate it anyway, now there will be a lot of impressions that will assuage fears about a shitty port. It's not like it's a game you can spoil or something.

I mean, fwiw, the game would have been up on torrent sites day one of release regardless. I don't expect this to have a huge impact on sales, though I'm not surprised if people who already bought it feel burned watching pirates pay while they twiddle their thumbs waiting for release.

It was inevitably going to happen. The only weird thing about this is how early it happened and that a member of the gaming press leaked it.

Talk about opening up old wounds. His reference point is DMC3 lol.

As soon as you get to the main city you can upgrade to an advanced class. Only a couple quests down the line, really. And you can switch between classes at will, and some abilities/passives carry over when you switch classes.

Ah. Figured "advanced" meant you needed to be high level or something, that's convenient. Thanks!

Assuming nothing's changed, you can do it even before then.
Just go to Bitterblack Island once you've reached level 10.

True. Game is 3 years old. Most know what to expect and probably have it preordered anyway. I think this will still do super well on Steam.

Well, looking at the bright side (if any), there's a chance that some people might start working on mods today...Hopefully something good comes out of this and we get the Berserk armor mod back in the game day 1.

I was thinking of being an Archer or one of the Archer classes (magic Archer), but I feel they are "too shooty".

Know what I mean?

I played as a Sorcerer before, and it was pretty amazing. Mystic Archer is one of the most powerful classes within the game. You'll have lots of fun with it. If you get your pawns to spell sync, and have everyone cast a really powerful spell at the same time to do massive damage to your enemies.

Advanced means, "not basic" more than "advanced" here. The "advanced" classes are either combinations of two basic classes (in spirit), or double-downs on what the class does (again, in spirit), like a Double-Warrior or Double-Wizard.

"basic":
Red
Blue
Yellow

"advanced":
Red-Yellow
Red-Blue
Yellow-Blue
Blue-Blue
Red-Red
Yellow-Yellow

EDIT: Like Steel says, it isn't a Red-Red > Red type of deal, either. The "basic" classes are unique and useful in their own way.

Good or bad my first thought was "Well, at least Into Free will be in on launch now."

I mean....they are ver shooty.

But there's melee stuff too.

Yea but, the melee classes are too... Uh "slicey"? Like, too " swordy"?. Majority of them just use swords? No clubs etc....

Edit: why don't they have a monk class or a more punchy class?

To follow this up, to be clear, this does not mean a wizzard (blue-blue) is inherently better than a mage(just blue). Wizzard's get more powerful offensive spells, true, but they lose the ability to use healing spells. The difference between a Fighter(red) and a warrior(red-red) is that the Fighter can use one handed weapons with shields and can tank, while the Warrior goes all in on offense with gigantic two-handed weapons. There are advantages and disadvantages to every class.

There are clubs. Magic knights can use 1-h maces, Warriors can use 2-h hammers. I would like to see a monk in a sequel, though.

I played a Warrior on the xbox release, but I think this time I'm going strider into an assassin for the advanced class.

It was just too much fun climbing up onto the monsters and I want to focus more on that.

I'm glad I never picked up Dark Arisen now, so that'll be a fresh experience for me.

Man, 60fps. It'll be so surreal after so many hours playing the original. Like the first time I played Goldeneye at 60fps, my brain couldn't process what was happening correctly.
