Ghostlight teases more Japanese Games for Steam (highly requested Action Game + more)

Earth Defense Force 4.1 is not a bad guess, but I kinda hope it's something else because we already know about that one through the Steam database leak. :P

Ghostlight doesn't have a connection to anything, they don't own IP, they are a localization/porting house.

This, so technically it could be anything, although some bigger devs/pubs would probably handle it themselves.

If it's not a Platinum Games title, how can it be a "highly requested" action game? The only highly requested action games for Steam are literally just those.

As a result of that, I can't even guess.

Nah, that's wrong. I'm sure they get requests for tons of stuff.

Sure, Platinum games would probably be up there, but I could think of lots of games.

If it isn't a Platinum action game, how highly requested could it really be?

brb getting hyped for Vanquish reveal anyway....

I see that most people dont know who publishes most games with all these guesses :p

I suspect the people guessing El Shaddai are right given the original studio recently bought the rights back and it's something small enough for Ghostlight to get.

It's time to speculate! I'll gift a copy of that highly requested action game to whoever that manages to guess the correct title, once it is revealed and becomes available on Steam. Unless you are BorntoPlay.

Can I guess? :) Actually I'm not positive what the JRPG is either, I've just been told we're close to signing one of the ones we've been looking at. I do have a few good guesses though.

I hope they manage to port the next game faster than they did WotS4, it was delayed like 3 times then went silent even after passing their supposed expected timeline.

We had quite a few issues with Way of the Samurai 4, that hopefully shouldn't happen again. Was definitely the most difficult port we've done. We did post updates on it on the blog, but the communication of what was going on should have been better.

Finally!

Spinout on Steam.

=P

Very interested in what they will be porting though.

I'd be up for that, Spinout was fun :)

I would take El Shaddai, enjoyed it on PS3 back then.
Could also be NMH or Lollipop Chainsaw i guess, the only other non-P* action games of last years that have some sort of a fanbase.

Was Killer Is Dead ported by Xseed or inhouse and Xseed just translated it? In the first case they would probably handle any other Marvelous game as they already have an enstablished rapport.

PC version of Killer Is Dead was published by Deep Silver, XSEED only published the consoles versions in the US.

Can't really think of too many action games outside of WotS3 there would have been a lot of requests for, aimed at Ghostlight. So I¨'m gonna say Dragon's Crown, because I'm sure people started asking them for all kinds of Vanillaware games, when the news about them exploring PC broke.

I believe it was ported by Kadokawa. Published by Deep Silver, as ezoda pointed out.

El Shaddai is a good bet and the most important imo. Others like Vanquish/Bayonetta will be ported eventually. El Shaddai's artstyle would benefit a lot from good image quality, also the framerate wasn't that good, on PS3 it was unlocked like Bayonetta's but it almost never mantained steady 60.

PD: Killer is Dead, afaik, was ported by Deep Silver themselves, not Kadokawa. I may be wrong though.

El Shaddai assets at high quality/resolution would be something to behold.

I'd really like to see Lollipop Chainsaw on Steam because I don't have a way to play it anymore, but that might just be a dead dream.

(Apart from the inevitable 30fps lock, WOTS4 was a decent port, so I'd love to see the third game get a release too.)

Ghostlight has been doing a very fine job with their PC ports of Japanese console games and I've been very happy with supporting them.
Hopefully the next games they'll be releasing on Steam will be more games I'm interested in.
I can't deny that I'm curious to know which titles are coming and which ones they have been looking at.

I'll buy it maybe but I cannot think of a highly requested action game besides Platinum. Even the ones listed in this thread don't ring any bells for me.

I'm thinking Mugen Souls Z and EDF 4.1 for the two upcoming games. That would be something, as they've only done PS3 and PSP ports thus far.

As long as it not another Idea Factory aberration with little naked children I can support it. El Shaddai would be cool if it's priced properly. Steam DB Help desk lead had Earth Defense Force 4.1 which might be done by Xseed (or Ghoslight?) and get released later to not lose sales on the physical copies they've manufactured. Also had Criminal Girls which be this or maybe by Idea Factory themselves.

I'd really like to see Lollipop Chainsaw on Steam because I don't have a way to play it anymore, but that might just be a dead dream.

There's a Lollipop Chainsaw entry in the SteamDB, but unfortunately it hasn't been touched in ages. It popped up in the massive Help-desk leak.

I rather have No More Heroes. Its too bad Marvelous USA stopped their Steam ports after Half Minute Hero.

It's a bit confusing but XSEED is what is currently known as Marvelous USA. They still use the XSEED moniker for their games but they are a subsidiary of Marvelous Inc.
The ones who published Half-Minute Hero 1 and 2 on steam were Marvelous Inc. under their former name Marvelous AQL.
There haven't been news since the announcement but if I had to guess I would say it's Marvelous Inc. who's in charge of porting Little King's Story and Senran Kagura to PC but they will be published by their subsidiary XSEED.

I hope it's El Shaddai. That game has some of the best art direction of last generation and I'd love to see it running on PC. I'd hope it'd look even better.

I'm still excited to try out Way of the Samurai 4 some day, the game looks very unique.

Thanks Ghostlight for bringing niche games over, can't wait to see what's next.

Those of you who haven't played El Shaddai, don't get too excited. A visual treat but one of the most basic action games you'll come across.

Hopefully whatever JRPG it is, is of a higher quality than Agarest and Mugen Souls.

It's good to see Ghostlight keeping up the initiative though. Way of the Samurai turned out great despite the issues they had during the porting process.

Given it's Ghostlight, I'm with texhnolyze on this. EDF was one of the names we saw on steamdb, and is a beloved niche action game that they could get.

Was HMH2 bad? I bought it but still haven't gotten round to playing it.
It's a bit wordy, which feels weird given how the first game kind of mocked how dialogue heavy RPGs can get, but other than that it's great. Definitely check it out when you have 18-20 hours to spare.

HMH2 definitely felt more like a homage to older school jrpgs then a parody. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that one should adjust their expectations a bit if one plays the first HMH then moves on to the second one. Hell, a lot of the features added into the sequel definitely play up to that, what with adding an overworld where one travels between stages rather then selecting them from a menu like the first one, as an example.

It's El Shaddei or Way of the Samurai 3. It can't be anything else. Can it be ?

I have no idea, is El Shaddai actually a heavily requested title? I remember that people were in awe of its style and presentation and then it seemed everyone kind of forgot about it. What about Way of the Samurai 3? I have seen a few folks in the Steam Community expressing interest in the title, but that's about it. All anecdotal evidence of course.

I rather have No More Heroes. Its too bad Marvelous USA stopped their Steam ports after Half Minute Hero.

I would also rather have No More Heroes brought over. I am really sad to hear that Half Minute Hero 2 bombed. Did Marvelous USA make any statements about its sales?
