The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

But can't you just see people normally in the game world without being in this radius? Or are we talking about a map position rather than in the actual game world?

I am not 100% on the details and would ask someone who knows for sure to answer

So I'm guessing the rest of the map is being sectioned off for DLC.

First thing i noticed and wondered was that they cut off the map just before Central Park. Clearly upcoming DLC :D

meaning you'll be highlighted in the map "Kill this Rogue player" otherwise other non-party players are not shown on map so you can be a little stealthy.

Not sure if this has been addressed yet or not, but does anyone know how loot/ammo drops are done when you are playing with friends?

Is it like Borderlands where only one person can grab it, or does everyone get the same drops? Or does the loot drop differently for each player like Destiny?

In the Angry Joe video they said that loot drops for each player individually.

yeah, that video showed all players getting random loot.

Thanks! Is this true in the Darkness Zones also?

Yes and no, If you shoot a player and he drops a "public drop" (no idea how that works in reality and what is or what isnt a public drop) only 1 can pick it up. This is mentioned in someones video, can't remember whos it was.

Speculation:
My guess would be that if you have an item on you that you need to extract and get shot to death, that item will become a public drop and only 1 player can loot it so you don't "dupe items" on players you kill.

Yeah that was in AngryJoe's video as well.
A "public drop" in the Dark Zone will be seen by ALL players and only one player can pick it up.

Looking a bit from the E3 video and the latest, they did make some ui changes, which is unfortunate.

But what is really intriguing that it is a RPG that isn't set in the medieval times (the witcher) or a futuristic setting (fallout 4), which is really refreshing.

I do miss the old HUD. I hope that they add more to the NYC map over the course of 3-4 months a piece. That would allow a sense of progression and would stop the game from becoming stale after launch; Brooklyn, wall st, central park, upper east side, even hoboken.

I'm dying to try this. Ubi has been very hit and miss this gen and this game could really hit for me if the gameplay is tight. Content and endgame kinda worries me doe.

Imagine they will add more areas after the launch since you can buy the season pass w/ the game for 130.00 (CDN) on xbox.com.

I wish the kept the animation feature that you lift your hand and look at your watch when going to the menu, etc.

But, I really don't think we will see a RPG in this setting for a long time. Also, for those who hate the COD games but love the theme/setting (like me), I think this game maybe for them.

Cant be worse than destiny...or can it

edit: destiny burnt me so bad on that that im reluctant to even buy THIS game on day one.

Acutally, PC versions tend to have a lot more clutter (MGS V, TW3, GTA V, etc.). But since this clutter was large models that affect gameplay to a certain extent, it may not be the case!

Exactly! I didn't mean that it was just a lack of paper bits and whatever on the ground, I meant that for instance in the old E3 reveal there were tons of cartons, shopping carts, trash bags and stuff lying on the ground. It looked like an apocalypse had happened and people just drop stuff out on the street, it felt very alive for it.

I think that HUD would get lost in busy backgrounds and snowy landscapes, but that thing was fucking stylish.

bioshock infinite had it.....so did many other games. It's nothing even remotely new

Oh yeah, but its another detail i didnt even notice before just now.

Edit: yes, gears had something similar.
Im not saying its "ground breaking", i was simply saying its a awesome detail i didnt notice in the game before just this moment. :)

Any recent PC impressions / footage? The Angry Joe vid just mentions that it 'looks a lot better' on PC and that some other sites had details - trying to decide between PC and PS4.

So from the looks of it, it's kinda like GTA Online? You dick around, if you start causing problems you get pointed out on the map and become a target?

What's the overall goal?

The single player portion of the game is just running through the dungeons, right?

Dark Zone is pretty much it's own thing...

You get separate rank & XP for the DZ and if you get killed it goes down. You don't have to kill other players but if you do you "go rogue". If you get to Rank 5 rogue you get a bounty on your head and the other players get a mission to kill you for that. If you survive you get the bounty yourself. Also there are drops at times that are contaminated & that you need to extract out of the zone. You go to a specific marker and call in a helicopter and have to survive until it arrives. Others can see you have a special drop (yellow backpack) and can kill you to take it. That doesn't mean the item inside is actually worth all the trouble...it could be a green item that you don;t need. You won;t know until you get back to your base and check your extracted tab in the stash to see what it is.

I like everything about this game but I know I wont be able to cope with the bulletsponge enemies.

The moment is going to take >= a magazine to bring down an enemy I will be uninstalling.

Good thing we have a beta to try this out and see how it feels.

As for the SP part i suggest you watch Angry Joe's video for more information.
Also i made this http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1171047 which holds some information.

Well PC will probably look (a lot) better than console. Question is why do you want it on the PS4? As long as its well optimized for all platforms and your PC can handle it, you can get the graphics however high they get while having the option to use mouse/keyboard or controller.

I like everything about this game but I know I wont be able to cope with the bulletsponge enemies.

Well if you want a comparison to how the gameplay in its basic is most likely going to turn out, a Third Person-Borderlands-Destiny hybrid.

One thing I noticed from that video is he put down a turret and the AI was just getting wrecked by it and didn't even turn to look at the turret. They didn't take cover or anything either. Why even bother wasting bullets on AI when you can just plop down a turret and let it do all the work? Maybe they do react to them and it was just that one firefight.

So the Dark Zone you isn't necessarily PVP only?

Don't get this sentiment. I understand people want more typical shooting mechanics where reaction time matters more, but this is a loot based rpg. Almost every game in that genre requires bullet sponge enemies so that when you progress (better loot, skills, stats) you can see the result of that. Otherwise, why have guns with higher damage, why level up? You have to make it so the enemies can take damage, and won't die unless your character is properly prepared.

This game seems to handle it pretty well. The low level "grunts" don't seem to ever take much more than a single mag (if you're properly matched to their level), especially if you aim for the head. And speaking of headshots, there seems to be a proper amount of recoil so that aiming does take a decent amount of skill.

it's where you do PVP but you don't have to. There are AI in the DZ that may be around an item chest or drop and you can work together to kill those guys. In one of the videos those AI were a lot more shielded and stronger than normal guys but I don't know if that's always the case (but I'd imagine it is though considering the DZ is where a lot of the better items in the game can be gotten.)

There's PVE as well in there. Any loot you find you have to extract, which takes a few minutes (You can't walk out, you gotta extract which calls a chopper). If you get killed the dark zone loot you found and are carrying wil be dropped and anybody can pick it up. If you bought dark zone gear from vendor in the zone you don't have to extract it and of course when you successfully extracted a piece of gear, it's yours forever.

Everybody can know if you are carrying a pieces of dark zone looted you gotta claim because you will have a biohazard yellow pouch on your back.

Its not related to the gameplay only. I dont have any fun shooting to a target for minutes as I dont pushing buttons to cast skills in the mmo of your choice.

Even if I was able to go over that, borderlands and destiny's ambientation with its aliens and monsters can hold shooting an absurd amount of bullets to targets as theres a infinite number of reasons for which those enemies will be able to resist that.

Shooting a full auto M4 point blank to a human for 4 seconds and having him move to the next cover just throws me off any possible immersion the graphics and new york's recreation of this game would have going for itself. My brain is simply going to refuse that.

Dark Zone looks fun, looks like Massive prioritize PvP than PvE.
So expect PvP more fun and polished than the other IMO.

supposedly the 22nd is when PC footage and details are coming but I haven't seen anything definite on that...if nothing else the PC beta starts on the 29th and people are allowed to stream and capture as much as they want so you should be able to decide then

Some of these fights are real awkward and messy. AI milling about you at melee distance while they take three or four shotgun blasts.

I mean, yea, but it's a game. It comes back to the old argument of "are any military shooters actually realistic?" You respawn in any multiplayer shooter, you don't limp when you get shot once in the leg, you run out guns a' blazin' in those games. They're all games and they all make sacrifices to realism based on the type of game it is. This is a loot based rpg/3rd person shooter hybrid. That's just how it's going to work.

I can understand it. It's a realistic setting, a shooter and a Tom Clancy game. All signs point to a more realistic sense of time to kill. The more RPG-style loot strength is contrary to the setting quite drastically. I personally think it can work and I'm fine with some suspension of belief but I can understand the people that have trouble getting past it.

Shit, wait till you find out drinking water makes your bullets do more damage!
