Which is fair enough, but there seems to be a lot of people in this thread pretty hyped for the game, some of which also finished it, but anyway. I still think a poor old school RE game is infinitely better than modern RE, of course just my opinion, one which a large number of people disagree with.

Don't worry..

Tbf I'm excited to play it again too, to an extent, I'm just not expecting to be able to overlook it's problems.

As far as old vs new RE goes, I don't think one is fundamentally better than the other. It's easily possible to make a great 3rd person RE game, as RE4 proves, It's just unfortunate that it gave Capcom a route to changing the series into a poor parody of the games that RE4 inspired in the first place.

I want to buy this but won't play it anytime soon. However I'm tempted to pick it up now because of that sweet Ps4 theme. Have these themes ever gone on sale later. I'd pay money for it and wait for a sale instead.

Now that I think about it, I think so. I haven't played the game since 2004. So my memory is hazy.

Yeah they show up on the map. The game is also circular enough that you can functionally drop everything in the main hall and be fine, only "moving base" so to speak once or twice.

If it means someone that was turned off by the classic controls will now get to play these great games, I'm fine with the new controls being an option. They fundamentally alter the balance of the enemy encounters though, which is obviously gonna detract from the survival horror aspects of the game. The tank controls may take a bit of getting used to, but anyone who claims to like these games should give them an extended try, if they can get over that hurdle they will likely enjoy these games even more.

Using the modern controls in REmake didn't dilute the experience for me. I've played the series since the beginning, and completed RE2 within the given limits to unlock Hunk. So, choosing the modern option doesn't mean you'd be any less of a fan of the series.
I'd say it made the experience even better. The only negative side is, that when the viewpoint changes you sometimes go into a wrong direction.

This is easily the worst RE for backtracking, as it doesn't even have item boxes. I can't answer your specific question, as it's been a while, other than to say I'd imagine the key system would be the same as REmake. You will likely end up using one character as your main, and the other as an item box essentially. You won't want to give them good ammo/weapons as they might waste them on Zombies.

That worries me. I've always kept all the powerful weapons, and their ammo, in the item boxes for the bosses. So now I apparently can't do that, or give them to the other character as he would waste the ammo. =/ Do you have enough space to at least carry the ammo for magnum and rocket launcher, on top of the ammo for the gun you're using, so the other won't use them?

every area is able to be backtracked to, with shortcuts opening up as you progress.

your map tells you where everything you've dropped is too.

That doesn't lessen the worry, as it means I have to go back and fetch them in every area. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds.

Phew! I was already starting to have second thoughts about the purchase I just made.

EDIT:
It really isn't. You know what was bad? Code Veronica backtracking. That shit took forever if you forgot where certain things were after taking a break.

Agreed, that's the main flaw in CV. If it's not that bad, I can definitely live with it, considering I've played CV through three times.

Preloaded it on Steam and looking forward to playing it I don't think I ever finished it when it came out on the GC I just remember playing through that train section a bunch of times.

Keep in mind that running around in Zero is like having twelve item slots in any other game. Once you get a hang of the item management it's not a hassle.

Just drop everything* in your current hub area (e.g. the main hall in the Training Facility), that you will cross every now and again. In the worst case scenario you will have to move everything once you unlock a new main location and before you discover the shortcut that leads to the previous one.

* there's a limit how many items can be dropped in each area

But at the same time Zero returned to the idea of some weapons (shotgun, hunting gun, grenade launcher) and items taking two item slots.

I take it, that you have to heal youself, instead of the partner doing it for you?

Thanks for the tips. So, when you reach the limit, you can't drop more items in that area?

Yeah, actually forgot about that.

It's been a while since I've played 0 but from what I remember you have to trade items between inventories if you want to use their healing items.

0 is gonna be good to jump back into before the eventual (?) port of CVX.

So on the ps4 overview page it displays costumes.
So day 1 buyables?
The preorder ones in particular are displayed so maybe we can buy the ones our preorder didnt come with?

Yes, IIRC the "drop" command is simply grayed out then.
Oh, and by "area" I mean room. So if you run out of space in e.g. the main hall, you can simply go to any adjective room (anything that's separated with a loading screen) and drop it there.

Mannnn I wish they would throw in the option to skip door animations out of the box and not have someone mod that into the PC version.

Haven't been keeping up with this just bought it. You think its possible someone can mod Co-op into the PC version
Capcom was making a co-op option for RE0HD, but scrapped it due to the fact characters often get trapped and have to wait on the other character to get them out. They said it wasn't fun, so got rid of it.

The game was never designed or intended to be played with those controls, it's basically cheating.

Well too bad, they're there now, Capcom put them there. It is legitimate now. Also apparently the tank controls in RE0 are kind of sketchy or something? A big RE speedrunner named Carcinogen is using the modern controls even tho he's pro-tank controls because he says RE0's controls suck and that the analog movement is actually better. Can't say I know anything about that, but considering his level of play in the series I assume he knows what he's talking about.

Btw, can anyone answer if Control Type-C got added into RE0HD? It was the only Resident Evil on Gamecube that lacked it. It remained in REmake HD. It is in my opinion the best control scheme for pre-rendered camera angled games period. In case it's named something else; it is the control scheme in which the right bumper moves the character forward and you use the D-pad/stick to pivot left and right and to backup.

Thanks again for answering my questions. Looking forward to midnight. 12 hours to go. =)

I still would have really liked an coop option.

I own the originals, and I really got into Zero at one point (had my run route down and everything), but I don't have this or Remake HD yet. Too much of a backlog. But I just realised I'm not buying this Capcom HD remaster because I'm going to be spending so much time with Dragon's Dogma. Capcom aren't doing too badly lately, are they? I still need to finish DMC4SE as well, now I think about it.

ok, got the pre-order in so i can get my costumes.

cant wait to play Leech Hunter again!

I'm happy I'm not the only one excited by Leech Hunter.

No one ever talks about it, but I actually really, really liked Leech Hunter for some reason.

That's a shame. I think this would have been a great couch coop experience, even if one player ended up just watching what the other was doing for a few sections.

IIRC on the Gamecube another player could have limited control over the second character if you plugged in a second controller.

There's a chance I may have imagined this though.

Not a second controller to my memory, but you could move the second player by moving around the C-stick. I also believe this is still in the game because in the costume video showing all the costumes posted yesterday, they were able to make the 2nd character move around to show off the costumes.

Did the C-Stick movement not still work with a second controller? I have vague memories of playing it like that with a friend.

Maybe it did, it's been a while since I've played Zero with a second person, but I do know the C-stick thing, and I recall trying a second controller but it not working, but I didn't try with a C-stick and maybe I didn't do something. Back about 7-8 years ago I was dating someone who really liked Resident Evil, and I know she and I switched the controller off whenever we switched characters to make a weird co-op RE experience (this was before RE5) and since the second controller didn't work sometimes we'd mess around with the C-stick as a result.

If a second controller did work, then that might of saved some (fun, but) useless hassle. XD;

Like I said, I may have imagined it. That's gonna annoy me now.

If I had a second Gamecube controller I'd test it out for ya, alas I don't. I assume if it worked it'd work on the Wii, as I have somehow lost my Gamecube's power cord so it is useless now. Trying it out on Dolphin is also an option.

Sort of off-topic, sort of not, when is it customary to post OTs? I was going to do it mid evening today (NA, a few hours before the unlock)
