Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

That Chun alt is fantastic. It's about time we had an officer Chun Li outfit.

Pillar Man Necali is going to be played online a lot. That alt is fire.

Finally, what the heck is with that Dictator alt? Not feeling it.

i played from sfiv up to ae2012 and then dropped off (mahvel) - i've only just realised this is right round the corner now after a friend mentioned it to me.

i've done a bit of looking around and reading up... am i right in thinking akuma doesn't appear to be coming to sfv at all, unless he's revealed as dlc following year 1?

he's hunting mishimas

So we still dont know yet how much time/effort will be involved in unlocking certain things like alt outfits or new characters? SFV is not F2P but I cant imagine unlocking Alex is going to be able to be done with any reasonable amount of effort when real money is on the line.....

Yeah, totally. Earning new major content like characters is going to be a grind, but that's reasonable for brand new characters.

I just don't want them to lock colors and alts in a way that your only option is to grind for them. They can just tie icons and titles to leveling if people want some sort of visual reward for leveling.

Agreed. The fact that they have a season pass for charaters already makes me think the grind for them will be huge, and I'm not sure I can really blame them for that given the money at stake. I'm more of a casual SF fan so while I love to play, I cant compete at any level so looking for a deal on the season pass or waiting for sales will be my only way in to play them all.

getting better at this...
The trend of lazy first skins for Dhalsim continues. Cammy's should've been her SFV default.

yup, just his alpha costume... and Ryu is alpha costume and hot Ryu.

I think the Hot Ryu, Battle Cammy, etc are examples of "Premium" outfits. These are the outfits that we'll probably only get with cash. The ones in this new beta are probably the type that we'll be able to earn through fight money.

Each character has 9 colors, but it takes hundreds of matches to unlock them for a given character. It's unreasonably long.

I don't want anything like that since SFV is not F2P.

I do hope there is a reasonable amount between the two - unlocking colors/alts should be a fun reasonable grind and new characters will likely be a pretty serious grind,

When does the booty just become too fine?

Jesus Capcom needs to higher some new people, most of these costumes suck balls just like SF4's. Also Laura's is ridiculous.

To be fair they are always hit and miss in any fighter. SF is no exception.

I'm excited to see Alex and Urien alts the most. I need that tore up business suit Urien in my life, and I need a farmer Alex.

I hope they take out custom colors they bring the quality of the game down. I hope they scrap custom items all together. Alternate costumes are great though.

But it was good and there honestly isn't a better way to do it. TLOU didn't break any molds as far as structure, MKX did.

It was perfect. It forces you to try almost every character and you get a hammy story that still entertains while clearly solidifying the ending/winner for the next one.

For Capcom to ignore it is a shame, but I understand that SFV possibly would not have been made at all, so I can't complain too much.

What did the MKX storyline do as far as structure that MK9 didn't? I literally see zero difference between MKX and MK9 in that respect and aside from it mainly using cut scenes rather than doing it VN style it's basically the same structure as BlazBlue.

Not to take anything away from MKX, I can see why a lot of people view it as the gold standard for fighting game story modes, it was well done. I just don't see the mold being broken for it and I think the styles that Xrd and BB used are just as valid.

There are custom items and colors?

I haven't seen anything suggesting that.

Maybe this image is a placeholder or a mod. I think it's smart to have leaks. You can get good feedback from the community. I think Laura needs to be toned down. The bigger part of your fan base isn't desperate to see half clothed women. The fact that Edit: modder can't wait to turn Laura into a Dead or Alive extreme girl is disappointing. Edit: This is likely a mod.

I don't know about Blazblue story mode currently but before Xrd released its movie sotry mode modern fighting game story modes were non-existent. They were all relegated to arcade mode endings which the fans had to piece together themselves to figure out what was canon and what wasn't.

From what I remember Blazblue had a story mode but it wasn't cohesive. Each character had multiple pathsthat could be taken that lead to completely different routes on what happened. And once again it all had to pieced together to see what the actual story. MK9 was the first game that said this is literally the story. No bullshit to piece together or anything. Just one cohesive thing with a beginning and an end. That's my take on it anyways.

It IS a mod.

Upon actually seeing what it looks like in game I get it now. I like the fact that it says "Heat Up" on her outfit as well. Looks a lot better than just the raw dump of the model.

So something like this?

And yes, that would be hype.

A color editor would be fine if there were also pre defined colors. X Tekken had the problem of only having 2 default colors.

The color edit was alright, they just need to take the neon colors off.

Look I don't like ryus purple headband on his orange alt, it's dumb and I want to change it

I don't like Halloween alternates. I'm in the minority though. I know most people loved these. If SFV decides to do these I hope it's after the game is almost ready to be retired. This is just my feelings on these troll costumes.

Blazblu's story while very anime (and thus convuluted as hell at time) was cohesive. The first game dealt with a ton of time shenanigans so having some characters succeed sometimes but fail other times made sense. From that point on though it became closer to Xrd's structure (with actual fights tho). If this is truly following BB's method of doing a story, I am okay with that.

Yeah the art is subpar and it isn't fancy CG cutscenes but its a start. It is apparent this game is kinda being rushed to market due to Capcom's issues (they haven't release much this gen if you have noticed) so if something is sacrificed for this....at least its something that many of us will only play once and not the gameplay or (hopefully) online, no?

still no pure arcade mode is lame

I hated that feature only because people would make combinations of colors and neon that would make my eyes bleed. I'd rather just have defined colors.
Yeah, I'd rather not have the color editor unless the color choices were more limiting (which is a strange thing to ask for). When giving people too much freedom, many will just screw around and make the stupidest looking color combos.

I.e. for SFXT, all I did was give everyone neon blue hair, and a police beacon light on Kuma's head, but left everything else the same. I thought it was hilarious, but I'd like to not be able to do that lol.
