The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

Honestly even though this is good if it didn't have this feature, it would've been a black eye to not have in the game with how open the game play is in the Dark Zone.

Or maybe have a "start communication with" option where the chat is only turned on with people/squads u wanna talk to. Point on them and select it. Either or. Like that they don't hear you when you tell your squad that youre about to flank em. ;)

I have a silly question. I've never played multiplayer on PC on anything really. Can I just plug my mic into my Xbox One controller and voice chat wil work, or do I need to use a voice chat program like GameVox or Mumble?

On PC i would often use steam to chat. Add people as a friend and start a group chat. Or theres applications that are used for chat only, but i throught steam was easier. I dunno if plugging it into the controller works, i had a headset for my pc.

if the game itself has voice chat you don't need a program

as far as plugging into the controller I'd guess that would work on the newer XB1 controllers but I'm not 100% positive

We can get to level 20 in beta?

Wow that's really generous of them. Destiny beta let you get to ... level 8? Max was 30, then light on top of that? Crazy.

This beta is going to be a LOT bigger slice than I thought.

I doubt level 20, probably will be 10 or less for the Beta. Vanilla Destiny was max level 30, but there was no light on top of that, that's a year 2 thing.

I'm not 100% sure about plugging the mic into your controller as the driver might not fully handle that, someone with a XO controller will have to confirm. You can also plug the mic into the back of your PC.

Division should work automatically for voice chat as it will ping Windows for your default microphone, which will be whatever you plug in.

You can use third party programs for communication with friends, I recommend Mumble and Team speak. Both actually have ways to search for open servers to use, I often search by ping and server size. I've found some very gold servers that way.

You can also use video chat using Google Hangouts or Skype, that's always fun.

Plugging into my PC is a no go actually, as I comfy couch. It's not long enough. I guess the beta will give me my answers.

I played the crap out of the Alpha. The atmosphere alone sold me. One thing that I'm surprised they aren't showing in the previews are the "echos" you find throughout the city, some even being part of side missions. I really dug them, gives the player some story of what happen when everything went to shit with the infection in the city. They also have some loot reward tied to solving them.

I don't know man, given rumors about the size of the map and the constant comparisons to Destiny I am not getting a warm fuzzy feeling.

I haven't seen any real comparisons to Destiny, just the "This reminds me of Destiny" comments from people who are complaining about the loot grind and lack of item trading between players.

Has there been any real comparison from Alpha players?

Looks really cool, but as jack frags said, I'm also worried about the replay value. This looks like a game that you want to revisit many times after finishing the campaign for the first time. I hope they made the right decisions so looting and leveling up is not topped within the first playthrough. That would kill it for me.

Well we already know the game has a ton of DLC coming. So I doubt they would let you max out on one play through. And even if so, the level cap will increase.

This game will be awesome at launch Likely, but post launch support and improvement will decide if it has staying power.

Yea I'm feeling the same way. Especially since The Division will not have any Raids. :(

Please show me a link or proof that states raids won't be in the game. Speculation in unreleased games is fine but you must shoulder the burden of proof if you word your opinion like it's a fact.

some info on end game info dropped last night I guess.
There’s absolutely going to be enough content outside of the Dark Zone. You don’t have to play the Dark Zone even though of course, I think you should. There’s definitely a lot of content, a lot of challenging content and a lot of end game content that is not in the Dark Zone.

Some people blow through the content very quickly. We’re not ready quite yet to communicate what we’re doing and what people will be sinking their teeth into once they’re done with the main game, but we know very well what needs to be done and that we need to be able to provide the fastest and most accomplished gamers with stuff to do. They’re going to reach the max level and then they’re going to want challenges, they’re going to want something that’s hard and something they can aspire to, something that can put their character and player skills to the test. We’re definitely going to be communicating very close to release what we’re doing, what our plans are and when they can expect to be seen.

Hopefully, what we have at release is going to last people for some time and then we are ready with the updates very shortly after release.

I think it will depend on the game. I know in Fable Legends PC the XBone pad mic works great. So the software backend is there, but its up to UBI to integrate it.

It doesnt really need any for me as long as theres enough content. That was the big problem for me with destiny. Doing the same shit in the same areas over and over...

Its a problem in all these Multiplayer Loot Fest Action RPGs it seems. Not enough content to hit max level with one play though of the campaign. At lease Diablo3 mixes up the baddies and random gen'd maps. It does look like that you can switch your skills around at will and mix/match different gear to be able to play a different role in your teams, varying the game-play, so that may help a bit, along with a harder difficulty.

Tomorrow?

I was under the impression the PC version the press played under embargo until 1/22/16, and the beta for PC started the same day as the PS4 beta, on 1/29/16.

Is there a closed PC beta test happening tomorrow? If so, I really hope we see a leaked shot or two. My fingers are crossed the final code of the PC version retains the GI and it is simply "off" in console versions.

The alternative being they stripped it completely from the game/engine. Which I hope they did not, because it was the games most promising feature, and the reason for much of the downgrade talk.

Yeah it's closed. I'm sure they'll be a yes or no on the GI being still implemented :)

These Agent Origins videos are really, really well done. They might actually be too good depending on what the final product will end up being for the game.

The only comparisons I found were from the social aspects. Grouping up with friends, meeting people in the social hubs. But in The Divisions case, it is more seemless. Jumping from mission types also seemed more seamless compared to Destiny. You are always technically in the world patrolling, then all the missions/events/side missions branch off during that patrol. The only time you are taken out into a loading screen is for example joining a friend and getting loaded into their instance of the game.

The look of your character is overall cosmetic such as Coats, hats, pants and shoes. Weapons, gear and talents are tied to lvl.

Every time I start thinking maybe I'll just buy this and not worry about or hassle with the decision... post like this bring me back to earth. Like jumping bare bottomed into freezing water. "wtf was i thinking"

You already pretty much confirmed you weren't buying it many posts ago due to bullet sponges.

31 minutes! Will watch later tonight.

Weird that they lock it to America.

Interesting.

The Amazon vid looks to be an extended single cut of the Youtube videos that Theorry and I linked. So hopefully the Youtube vids are region free. It's got additional background info that the YT vids don't have (some exposition basically).

The correct order for the YT vids appears to be Ashes, Conspiracies, Pursuit, Escape.

Edit: Yeah the Amazon version is the best one to view, if you can. It actually weaves the 4 Youtube videos together to create a clearer narrative with better pacing. Though you get the basic story by watching the YT vids.

They are done by Corridor Digital. Their videos are fantastic.

I've never seen their work before but it's pretty awesome. I'll have to keep an eye out for their stuff.

I like the overall idea of The Division. I just don't know if it will actually be fun in the long run.

Finding loot is always a big draw for me. As is a pretty unique setting for a loot game. I just wonder if the variety will be there. Knowing how Ubi work, it make take a sequel or two to get things interesting.

The Dark Zone stuff sounds really cool but I don't know how much of that I would do unless I was with a good and trustworthy team. All the work to get douched at the end will really put some players off.

Yeah the production quality is really nice. The acting on the other hand... Haha. Typically these PR/lore building things are far more interesting than what's actually happening in the game. Look at Halo's "Hunt the Truth", way better than the game's story by a huge margin.

Guns look to have 2 talents at purple level. Getting that perfect roll is probably going to be huge.

Getting a DMR with headshot dmg % and crit seems like it would be amazing.
