99% of my motivation for coming here is to get news and info, because I learned a long time ago that this place is an incredibly efficient and fast clearing house for it. But ironically, 99% of the content here is just people spouting off their opinions, which is all just worthless white noise to my eyes. (Including mine!) It wouldn't surprise me a bit if what he said about developers was true.

It's a discussion board. There will be opinions here.
Surely the same could be managed by going to Gamespot's/IGN/Polygon's twitter feed.
This way you could avoid all those opinions and noise.
Honestly I've never been to a gaming forum where the gaming dicussion wasn't sometimes hard to stomach. It's not really unique to NeoGAF to have a lot of irrational anger, innability to handle the fact people have different opinions, etc.
The moderation is good, the format is good, and the sheer amount of people including insiders makes it about the best we have when it comes to gaming forums.
I don't partipate on that side due to the aformentioned unavoidable aspects of "Gaming forums", but I do appreciate it as a resource.
CliffyB going out of his way to be insulting dosn't personally offend me; the guy really seems like a ~40 year old child.. but he's easy enough for me to ignore.

I always thought it was quite funny how Tom Chick over at Quarter To Three was/is so obsessed over the c-word. I remember he changed the forum software so that whenever someone typed "cunt" in a post, the software would change that to "tapir". Obviously, it became an in-joke and a meme of qt3, and after a while, he also started banning people for the usage of "tapir". Good times.

We've met at parties a few times. Props to him for a smart investment in Oculus and especially for Jazz Jackrabbit, a courageous move toward furry social equality.
He's chill and fun to talk to and I don't want to throw him under the bus, but the problem is that this whole charade doesn't end with a "lol NeoGAF" social media internet persona; he has gone straight into crying to me about NeoGAF every time I've see him. We all have internet personas and we all have a good time trolling each other with them over the vacuum tubes, but I don't go up to Patrice Desilets at social events and start ranting and raving about ripostes being too strong in Assassin's Creed or some shit.
I've been running this thing for the majority of my life now and have grown it from a tiny seedling into the most prominent gaming forum in the world, and have done what I can to attempt to elevate it from the typically very low baseline of internet discussion into whatever can reasonably be achieved above and beyond that, and the over 7.4 billion people and counting who I personally know and both legally and spiritually represent the opinions of in the video game industry in every conceivable way seem to mostly appreciate what I do, but I'm pretty sure Cliff's vitriol for NeoGAF somehow outweighs my passion for creating, owning, and running it. That's curious. Maybe go outside?
To Cliff, NeoGAF seems to be this all-encompassing Sauron-like entity of communal video game villainy that consumes his thoughts and social media posts and is perhaps inextricably bound to his ego within a toxic mountain of salt. To me, it's Tuesday.
I know I am not offended because he does not even know me. I just think that instead of acting like 'dude huge' he is acting more like a huge douche.
There are plenty of great folks on GAF, so why generalize us all with comments like, "most people I know think you are all a bunch of cunts" and shit like that? I mean, really? Just no class and it sure as hell does not make me want to look at any of his future projects.
