Nice, maybe I'll actually pick it up at some point, then.
The whole "Human PokemonAmie" thing was just lame and pandering, at best, creepy and sad, at worst.
If they cut the same-sex relationships, though, that's a "real" censorship issue.
They did a cost cutting move on FE? I thought FE due to Awakening was now one of the bigger franchises on the 3DS.
Intelligent Systems technically isn't part of Nintendo. According to an interview in a recent book about the series' history, this feature was added just because they wanted to try the live 2d technology. They first attempted to use them for conversation portraits, but thought the constant movement was distracting. Then added them to confession scenes, but it seemed like they'd be barely appearing in that case. Finally, they ended up going with the skinship feature in order to feature it somewhere where the player would have optional access fairly often. Also, apparently part of the staff wanted to make it usable on the lower body too, but they ended up settling with face-only.Discussion of matters like this have legitimately reached the point where I can't tell if people are actually upset or being sarcastic or whatever anymore.
I'm not personally at all upset at them not having a weirdly perverse feature in a game from a company that is supposed to be so family friendly, but it begs the question of why do Nintendo add it at all in the first place? Is it really so integral to the experience for japan that it would harm sales to not have it for that market, even though it flies in the face of so many of their global values?
I like this post. Its a good joke post.it better be a joke post
So was this "localization"?As it should until people start using the right words.
It is hard for me to take any argument seriously when it uses a term as loaded and hyperbolic as censorship when talking about localization.
I recognize this isn't a winning battle, but it's a hill I'll die on.

This is extremely disappointing. =/ I understand the complaints about the feature (but, like...just ignore it if you don't like it?), but I think a lot of people fail to realize that for gay individuals like myself, this feature was really nice because, as far as I understood, you could use this "petting" feature on any character, including characters of the same sex as your avatar. This was the only way to have any sort of intimacy with same-sex characters outside of the single male and female characters that you can marry with a same-sex avatar. While it's great that the same-sex marriage is still there, and it's certainly a big step up from Awakening that featured none of it, it's still extremely disappointing that there was even more that we could have had, but of course they cut that out of the localization. =/
I'm still upset that they took one of the only positive trans characters (Vivian from TTYD), (and one of the only trans characters that you spend significant time with in general in games) and made her a cis woman in the release of TTYD, likely because trans characters are not viewed as family friendly.
So I don't really like blanket statements like that, when that particular example is particularly annoying to me.
I have no idea what this is, and I am not about to read an article about something I don't care about to tell you my opinion about it.So was this "localization"?

It's so creepy though! Those otaku ruin everything!Thank you for posting this. The fact that people are outright cheering about this feature being removed is honestly kind of sad. It was an optional feature that some people would have enjoyed and could have been very well ignored by those who didn't.
Well now it's no longer optional. It's gone completely. And this is a cause for celebration.
Sigh.

Once again, this is a term that the gaming community has used for many years. it may not be technically correct, but the cat is out of the bag. Google "Fallout 3 Australia" or "Left 4 Dead 2 Australia". The suggested word is not localization, but censorship. It sucks, but that's the reality.
Right, rendered meaningless because some people on gaming forums are using it in a way you don't like. Are you serious?
Whenever Nintendo has changed or removed something during localization, it's typically for the better.
The only example I can think of on the top of my head where it wasn't good was with Fatal Frame 5 where they made a scene in the game weird instead of creepy.
I would have probably used this feature once to see how weird it would be but I really don't care that it's gone.
That is localization, unless the US government stepped in.It's interesting how all this stuff isn't censorship and just gets handwaved as localization.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if they removed the same sex couple options from the game. Would it continue to be localization, or would it suddenly become censorship.
Omg... Imagine if she died in your game what do you do
Well , if its that easy to pirate the japanese version, and a fantranslation already exists, its entirely possible that sales could be affected either way.
Same sex relationships are on par with tween bikini armor, okIt's interesting how all this stuff isn't censorship and just gets handwaved as localization.

Why would that happen? that feature was announced by Nintendo of America and always intended to come over.It would be interesting to see what would happen if they removed the same sex couple options from the game. Would it continue to be localization, or would it suddenly become censorship.
Fascinating how people use censorship as such a blanket term, almost as if they're trying to avoid arguing what's actually being changed here and why it shouldn't be. Seriously good luck explaining the face rubbing or that magic potion nonsense to your average not crazy person.

Not that hard. Mainstream isn't as "PC" as gaf tries to make them out to be.
Censorship is if an official government body is involved.
You linked the wrong definition, unless we're talking about individuals here.
Seeing such few responses to that and almost none of any merit makes me upset.Thank you for posting this.
