Serkan Toto Rumor: Bandai Namco making several NX games, including a Smash for launch

If true, watch it be Smash 5. Solely because they couldn't keep all of the third parties. Plays just like 4.

They'll add back all of the cut characters, but Snake- even Pichu. The first party DLC will stay in base game. They'll add another Namco rep to base game, but not even sonic will come back because of time to get contract ready.

Then they'll add stuff back as paid DLC and make another set of amiibo but in new poses, higher quality for more money.

And we'll still buy them all.

I'm Wii U owner and I would be pretty pissed if the NX isn't backwards compatible and a games like Zelda Wii U & Smash 4 get ported. If that's the case then I won't buy an NX.

Add in Magicant, Corneria, Mute City and the missing veterans and it will already be the superior version of Smash.

Maybe add online to Smash Run? Add ping bars to For Glory?

Nintendo's previous cross-gen games (Twilight Princess/Pokemon Red/Blue Mystery Dungeon) were on BC systems, so this means nothing for whether or not NX is BC with 3DS or Wii U.

Can't see this not being a port of Smash for Wii U with all the DLC characters and stages.

3DS content will stay with the handheld to show its value, yet...having Magicant in HD would really awesome.

So begins the final nail in the coffin for the Wii U. I bet we see a lot of Wii U ports. Perhaps this means no Backwards Compatibility?

I would assume it would be combined

Since we know that NX is getting Handheld and Console systems in some form.

Because the keyword here is that they want it in time for the launch of the NX and the only way that will happen is if it is a straight port/Complete Edition of Smash 4's Wii U version. Adding additional characters takes time, especially new ones and they would be forced to once again go through a process of balancing the new characters with the old all the while porting the game to the NX.. That doesn't seem like a project that would be finished in time by the end of the year or, if we want to stretch things a little longer than that, next year.

You saw how long it took them to release DLC characters for Smash 4. Now just try to add characters while they actually need to work on porting the game to the NX and characters aren't just their focus/priority.

Of course, it was a smaller team but still the bulk of the work would assumed to be on the porting itself and any new content wouldn't be budgeted into it because it's a port job -- it's supposed to be inexpensive for easy profit.
There are a lot of unknowns still, though. For one, we don't even know when the NX is launching for sure. There could be plenty of time. Additionally, we have no idea how long they've been working on the NX version. They very well could have been working on it alongside DLC for 3DS/Wii U. At the very least, we know that Sakurai's next job has been decided for awhile, since he recently said, "However, that doesn’t mean my next job hasn’t been decided already."

If Smash is being ported, you can bet your ass Splatoon and Zelda share the same destiny, maybe even MK8

Zelda, very possible, given the release date for Wii U. Splatoon and MK8, highly unlikely. Nintendo would benefit more to release an all new Splatoon and MK for NX than just port them this early.

Youre out of your mind if you think Sonic and Pac-Man wont come back to future entries. I wont play an updated version of Smash without Pac as hes my main.

I'm not really planning on buying an NX anytime soon. I'll be pissed if the game that I bought less than two years ago, and is still getting DLC support up through the next few weeks, is immediately rendered incomplete and a worse version of the game than the one that releases this fall.

I get that we do remasters now, but generally Nintendo has waited many years, like with the Zelda games. This would be a turnaround of less than two years.

Hmm, I guess I'll hold off on buying Bayonetta and Corrin just in case this ends up being real.

Yeah, exactly. I really want to buy bayo and corrin. Those seem like cool characters. But if that's just wasted money, what's the point?

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo had made deals with the third parties already for sequels and re-releases. It seems they've made good deals with amiibo usage, given the random appearances by Pac Man and Sonic and stuff in games like Yoshi and Mario Kart.

They'd likely want to avoid another Snake situation, where it would be awkward to re-negotiate the licensing.

RUMOR

Portable Smash is going to be called Super Smash Bros Fisticuffs and console version will be called Super Smash Bros Brouhaha.

Cool. I assume it's Smash 4 NX, complete edition, or at least hope.

I'd love to be able to try out the new Smash 4 characters at home, but I'm certainly not going to buy DLC.

This news disappoints me
It's better (in my mind at least) than chaining Sakurai to his office desk so that he can keep working on another smash.

Of course I didn't expect a Smash port to happen so soon but I understand why they would do it. Gotta fill out the launch release while appealing to people who didn't play the Wii U or 3ds edition.

Nintendo likes to play the fiddle of their compulsively spending fanbase

Just look at New 3DS

The reality is NX is the future and they werent about to leave such heavy and popular investments behind on the WiiU

NX is going to carry those titles forward and likely improve on them. Its just logical

Not necessarily. Maybe no Backwards Compatibility for DLC? Or just trying to get new people into the game without them having them have to buy all the DLC?

I mean TP happened, and Wii was backwards compatible.

They can make a new Splatoon and Mario Kart fairly quickly. I don't think they need to port those. Zelda needs to happen though.

Why does it need to have BC? Be better for nintendo to distance themselves from the brand.

I think its time for Nintendo to break off from old tech just to maintain BC.

That's totally fair and I understand that. It's reasonable for Nintendo to not include BC given their situation. I'm just someone who doesn't own a WiiU and there are several games for it that I'd buy on the NX if I could (DK, Yoshi, Pikmin etc.)

Just curious, but why didn't you buy the DLC the first time around?

I feel like there will be a couple more remasters. Will they be the ones you want? Might not be. But I feel like Nintendo is gonna embrace what this gen is doing - remasters out of the wazoo lol.

It just feels too soon to me. I can't justify buying a port for a game that's two years old. Not even sure I can justify buying another new nintendo system so soon.

Ah that is true....will I suppose it depends on how they plan on rolling it out.

Honestly Pad the port is for those who were waiting on Wii U to be $99 and may be interested in their new Hardware. I honestly won't be getting a NX at launch because there are still some games on the Wii U I haven't played yet.
