Serkan Toto Rumor: Bandai Namco making several NX games, including a Smash for launch

Sakurai confirms Ice Climbers were too complex and Ridley was too big for 3DS, will be fixed for Smash on NX. All will be made right.

I wish we could find out about all the character names that Xander said in his recording session but didn't end up being in the game. There's got to be weird shit like Sutte Hakkun in there.

When is Xander allowed to say names of characters not in Smash for fan projects? Is there a contract in place for that kind of stuff?

Cause i remember the brawl announcer doing character name voicelines for fans.

Gonna go out on a whim here and join the "it'll be a port" camp.

Maybe they'll chuck in some 3DS content here and there but it will likely not be substantial.

I always preached that a port of Smash Bros. U would be highly likely at NX launch for one major reason, Amiibo sales. The game is essentially the ultimate driver of Amiibo sales, which has become like a third major platform for the company.

I also Mario Maker DX or Mario Kart 8 Remix.. something like that may follow alongside.

I honestly can't see MK8.
A direct sequel would make more sense me thinks.
Developing MK9 shouldn't be anywhere near as hard to do as a brand new Smash game.

Mario Kart 8 was basically the third biggest Amiibo compatible game. Smash and Mario Maker are my realistic picks.

Have we discussed about the "several" games from Namco?

I low key want Tales of Vesperia. Nintendo is the kind of bad bitch that would pay for a new localization.

I think Berseria would be more likely since it should be a fairly straight forward port, and its cross-gen anyway.

He said this somewhere?

Could have sworn that I read that statement, but I don't remember from where. The way I remember it, they didn't bring him back to record at least some of the DLC characters because he had already done so in the initial session.

Feep got him to record some lines for GAF, and he was uncomfortable saying anything that even sounded like a character. Apparently Xander was even uncomfortable saying "Florida Man".

I'm not going to read the whole thread but no one thinks it's weird that this "consultant" would so publicly have loose lips? I wouldn't hire the guy...

Make a Mario Kart 9 within a year of launch and support it throughout the generation. Given the warm reception to the Mario Kart 8 DLC, most of us would welcome a new map pack every 6-8 months.
Just fix the damn battle mode Nintendo
Instant success.

Doesn't Mega Man's fusion reactor explode when he dies? That's kind of gruesome when you think about it.

part of me wonders if any of it was for NDA purposes.
Like "hey, let's have this guy record a bunch of names so that way he couldn't leak who was actually in if he wanted to."

A new Mario and a Smash remaster at launch would be extremely compelling. Throw in the NX version of Zelda U and you've got a must-have.

Or how about a 3d Mario and two other new games?

The last impression you wanna give of NX at launch his "WiiU+". Zelda U being ported to NX will only give Nintendo and excuse to take forever on releasing a true NX Zelda.

Porting these games to NX for launch is a decent short term plan but a horrible long term one.

The best thing Nintendo can do is show how NEW this system is. Not rely on ports of games that aren't even old yet.

They have to do something to make this more compelling than just a GoTY edition, especially since the game is available on the 3DS in addition to the Wii U. If this rumor is true, I'm expecting at least a couple new characters, even if they're Wolf and Ice Climbers. I think that that would be much more likely to drive sales of the new console than a slight resolution upgrade or something. Smash 4 already runs fantastically on Wii U.

They're going to take forever to release a NX Zelda anyway. And it worked out okay for the Wii in any case.

Nintendo's top priority is to get this thing roaring out of the gate so that third parties take notice. Also, Nintendo doesn't like to have several major titles release at the same time, but a remaster wouldn't hurt as much.

I'm not turning down new games. I'd be all in on a new Excite Truck and Mario Strikers at launch. But as a future owner I want them to do what is necessary to ensure the future of the platform.

I've saying that a subspace emissary mode for the NX port would be a huge win.

Super Smash Bros: The Masahiro Sakurai Collection
-64, Melee, and Brawl bumped up to HD. Online added. Cross-gameplay playlists.
-New version of 4 with all stages from both versions, plus all DLC, plus every past character and past stage added in. Chrom, Chorus Kids, Ridley and K Rool added.

Included as a pack-in for the NX, which retails for $199.99 and is out tomorrow, alongside Mario Kart 9, Super Mario Galaxy 3, Pokemon Sun & Moon, and Zelda NX.

Nintendo declared bankrupt about a week later.

In reality, I think it'll be one of the following:
-Port of Melee in HD with online added
-Port of Smash 4 Wii U with DLC included. Will add some of the following things: 3DS stages, non-returning stages, cut veterans, characters that were likely in development to some degree but cut (Chrom & Chorus Kids). Will almost certainly not add all of these things, especially if its out in time for launch and Sakurai isn't involved.

I really can't see a port getting a lot of new content -- if any. The way Sakurai ended that last trailer kind of wrapped the ribbon on the proverbial present.

Hell while we are at it lets throw in Mother 3, Donkey Kong Country: The Complete Collection, and Metroid Other M 2

Did it work out for Wii? Wii sold the way did because of Wiisports...not a port of TP. And by the time we finally got wii's Zelda a lot of people didn't care anymore it was the like the worse selling console Zelda despite being released on a system with the biggest install base of any Nintendo console. That didn't work out too well at all in hindsight.

I think it's reasonable to expect ports of significant, multifaceted market games like Smash 4 for NX launch simply due to the circumstances. Nintendo is in the unfortunate position of rushing new hardware to the market after the Wii U's poor performance, and the stress this weighs on software developers pushed for time to buff a launch window tends to be messy. Nintendo learned this from the Wii U launch: modern games taking more time and resources to develop and that eating into schedules something shocking.

When you need to fluff your launch lineup it doesn't hurt to hit some ports.

Why do they have to make it more compelling than just a GOTY?

TLOU PS4 did fine without extra content because the system sold more than the previous one did, with a larger audience experiencing the game for the first time.

The only reason I can think of to bother adding more content would be trying to convert Wii U Smash owners, which aren't that many people in the first place, hence the port existing at all.

Are you talking about Wii TP or did I misunderstand your post? If I didn't then you're mistaken. TP Wii sold several times more than GC's version and it's one of the best selling Zeldas..up there with OoT.

It shouldn't launch with any wiiu ports at all. Gives a bad impression honestly.

There are plenty of people that wont touch a WiiU but would drop cash day 1 for new hardware launching with Smash Bros

Both the Xbox one the PS4 have plenty of last gen ports and nobody cares
