Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Hugely important part of my game with Ryu so far. In instances where I need them, they are really keeping me in the game for longer and allowing me to learn where I've been struggling. V-reversals are winning me games, and the good part is the V bar seems to refill so quickly!

I'm still not using V-Reversal, V Trigger to extend combos, or Super(but that's mainly because I'm ass at doing the double QCF motion really fast). I'm playing a really basic Ryu right now and I'm not even using his parry much because I don't know what most characters normals or block strings look yet. Once I figure that it will be fun to blow up block string with parry.

As for V Reversals, I definitely need to start using them more. Especially when people are crossing you up. Their are other ways to avoid that, but if you're too slow to do something like dash under then sometimes you need to use to meter to get out of the situation.

For me, the recovery time with the parry takes the fun away from even parrying anything in a close range situation. Add the input delay/lag with online play its kind of a moot point when trying to do it for air attacks.

Played the beta. Thank GOD FOR blessing my matches. I still lose btw but because of teleport lag. Teleport lag Chun Li is hard to beat. I'll stop playing beta right now and wait for final version. Btw, how do I view my replays? I need to see my mistakes.

Any Ryu videos for beta 4? I need study material.

Can someone explain to me the best way to deal with Nash's buttons in neutral? I'm having a hard time with how active they are to be honest, or even keeping track of all of his command normals. :/

(For the record, I'm using Laura)

Go to fighter profile and then go to the fight log and add your replays to the replay list and then go to cfn and you can view them there

Fucking hell, I was just goofing off in Training Mode with Cammy and her super literally combos in from everything in the world

Target Combo xx Cannon Spike xx Super is like 40-45%

Her and Ryu hit like a fucking hammer

Karin's V-Trigger is nuts. Command grabs, lows and left rights that she can cancel into her CA? She blows up fools that aren't on top of things. Also, Vega's normals are amazing. They don't feel OP, but the reach is real. Must be horrible fighting him for people that don't have access to great normals or some sort of long range grabs/projectile cover.
Finally broke 1000LP barrier! Very happy with today's matches.
Same here

I am the nasty hot garbage under fresh garbage in SF4, but SFV Karin so amazing. Everything from normals to V-trigger just flows. This iteration of SF is a good time. SF hasn't felt this smooth since 3S.

Totally got owns in my first few matches. As expected as I haven't really played a Street Fighter (and little fighting games period the past couple of gens) since the SNES and thus no little about all the newer mechanics. I did win a couple rounds at least against other newbies and had a couple close three round matches.

Looking forward to playing more and trying other characters. I played Ken this morning as that's who I mained back in the day.

Who's the most noob friendly?

Had a 5 match win streak yesterday and this morning lost 10 in a row. I'm so frustrated right now,put hours and hours in training mode and when the match starts I forget everything and press buttons way to fast. Think I'd rather watch people play than put the time in to be decent, just dont have the patience for it.
Older post I know, but I just wanted to say that the cycle for me usually goes like this:

1. be unhappy about my gameplay
2. find new stuff and struggle to implement it
3. implement it
4. go to 1.

One interim step that might help you is to play the CPU, even the easy one, to get used to use your stuff on a moving target. I noticed that top players don't really do that, but it helps me a lot.

Thoughts on Laura

Seinfeld-Leaving.gif

She's probably the Dan of this game (That's giving her too much credit because at least Dan has good normals). I can do a lot with Zangief, Karin and Charlie but with Laura she really has nothing other than extending her combo after her S.MK with V-Trigger and allowing her to do an air reset off her EX-Fireball. You have to be Mike Ross to fall for this .Fighting her isn't fun it's very lame as well as playing as her. And her theme, What the hell Capcom?

Go into replay mode and search up some players who have a lot of points with her and watch how they play her.

or just complain. that's a valid option too.

I realized that I still have yet to run into Zangief. Birdie appeared a couple of times, Vega came up maybe three times (one was a repeat) and Sim might have appeared twice. I guess no one wants to protect the Russian skies. Weird considering how much noise people were making about him being stupid good.

I can't even see Cannon Spike coming from neutral half the time. She's definitely one of the characters I hate fighting most alongside Laura and Birdie.

Yea with Karin's V-trigger I always feel I have a chance of a comeback. It gives so much more potential to the character that it's really great to play her.

I hated this beta4 because there are soooooo many wireless-lag switchers soabs. for ex: Jaggaa is one of them. I really can't understand this ego. You know nothing, you are just a Sf noob and this is just a beta but you do some cheap games for winning. You should be a totally moron.

the salt is real :p

The matchmaking in this game is awesome. After a few games of beating on newbies and got into the 1000 LP range I just start getting bodied. All of the bs tricks used to get there aren't working anymore. This game will def keep newcomers playing people their level of skill.

The matchmaking in this game is garbage. Wait 15 minutes to finally get into a match and it's a goddamn slideshow even though I've set it to only accept 4 and five bar connections. If this is indicative of the finished game, I'm certainly not gonna bother.

I didn't even realise this feature is in there in its entirety until today! I got so much good footage from there, it's amazing.

Also, Keoma is apparently using Karin, so I'm hyped for Red Bull Kumite.

Use 3-5 instead of 4-5

I totally forgot how to play with Mika. I can barely get a hit in.

Also, the twitch army apparently is full steam ahead w/ Chun. Everybody doing the same things.

Edit: lmao rage quitters

There are no wireless lag switchers soabs, the game just doesnt filter connections correctly... calm your salt, mister.

Nah, now is the time to parry, even in close proximity. People don't strike quick enough afterwards yet to worry about it. I parry jump in attacks all day. I think most tend to hit block for fear of a retaliation realizing they just got parried. It'll change as time goes by and people learn, but right now it's a great tool.

Anyone have tips for fighting against Dhalsim as Vega? I just played one and I'm sure I could've beaten him if I had more experience with the matchup but I was just making all sorts of sloppy mistakes because the same strats I use other characters like Ryu/Laura/Rashid/whoever don't really work against him.

e: lol at people already blaming lag-switches

how do you know? I know because I played many many matches with English players and we had ZERO lag but this and some soabs are different and you say this is a filter issue or bla bla.

The L must be held.

Set battle confirmation on and matchmake in the main menu. Last night it tried to match me three times with one bar connection before it found a four bar match.

I have to assume they're still trying to do some degree of testing, but yeah, the game's like 2 weeks out, makes more sense to impress everyone if they can.

Why would they even set connection quality to "any" by default? That's just a guaranteed experience you don't want to have.

All of the matches I've played today have been totally fine, honestly. Got a few slideshows last night but not today. I'm just using whatever the default network settings are.

I probably wouldn't play her if it weren't for her V-Trigger. It turns her into a beast.
Spike is FILTHY

It hits hard, is super fast, and they let her combo into her super from it because fuck it, I dunno, British
Must be why she refuses to wear pants. It makes her aerodynamic enough to make Cannon spike super fast.
Preach, brother. Preach!!!
Now Capcom needs to catch a hint and put some 3S characters in the game. V-Trigger Hugo, Alex, Makoto and Ibuki would probably warrant removing the stun mechanic altogether lmao.

Having an issue and not sure if it's been discussed yet.

I have a Madcatz TE2 PS4/PS3 stick I'm trying to get working with the beta on PC but unfortunately the game never accepts it. It works fine with USF4 on PC but for some reason with SFV it never works.

In the interim I've been using my Xbox 360 TE-S which works fine with the beta.

Has anyone had an issue like this? Has Capcom said that PS4/PS3 sticks don't work with PC beta but will with the retail release? Confused that the stick doesn't work with SFV but does with USF4.

Has Capcom said anything more about a possible PS3 driver for SF5? (For PS3 sticks)

I know they said they were "looking into it" a long time ago but that seems like it might be lip service at this point.
