Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

I'm becoming increasingly concerned because he has only gone downhill from Beta 1, and none of his problems have been addressed. If Capcom "got it", I'd like to think that we would see changes. Instead we have more point nerfs "balanced" by V-Trigger buffs no one asked for.
You're acting as if Bison is shit tier which he is not.

The characters without anti-airs are all zoners =/= all of the zoners don't have anti-airs. The inverse of a statement is not truth-retaining.

If you want to call Birdie a zoner he's got great AAs too. Who else in this beta would you call a zoner besides maybe Vega (who I haven't messed with very much but seems to also have good AA options)?

Karin must be a zoner then

Really not understanding this game anymore, or at least my character.

I have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing with Rashid. Just learnt a lesson from a Karin player, his light spinning mixer is unsafe even on hit? Unless it was lag. Either way, it seems to put you at a frame disadvantage on block, which makes me wonder why you would play the character when others like Chun, Karin and Cammy can pressure with better normals.

Rashid has some gimmicks with his vskill, and high/low mixups but these stop being useful the better my opponent is, so they will not be viable sources of damage in the long-term, as better (those with 1500+ lp) just tend to block them.

On his cr.mk it feels as though its hurtbox extends further than the hitbox, at the very minimum it the hitbox does not extend as far as the his foot on his model, which is in contrast to most moves which are pretty accurate or extend further than their model shows.

So what do I do with Rashid? He seems weak at mid-range zoning, because his projectiles do not cover the full screen, and weak up close. His mixup game feels as though its his only strength, but isn't that intimidating for better players. Why play someone like this when characters like Nash are much more solid, all round?

i think his AAs were a little more generous in previous betas. right now he's gotta be on point to control the air, but the rewards are quite good if he is (air throw with no height restriction to get space, crush counter from RH, anti-air vtrigger for big damage). his AA potential is there but there no ez AA button (cr. HP was almost feeling that way in previous betas).

Got my first match against Sim. That didn't go too well as I didn't have any idea of his moves. Other than that I am winning more than losing so I guess I am learning something.

My wife is getting kind of crazy with gluing seashells to everything. I hope when I get home in 2 months I don't come back to a surprise.

Does anyone else play Cammy on here? I'm hoping some other players might have some tips on combos with her other than Normals -> Spiral Arrow -> EX Cannon Spike. I'd dont have a lot of combos that hit mid and as such crouching block defensive players cause me grief. None of the Cammy's I've played online though seem to have embraced her MP+MK Spin Attack though which is pretty good at keeping pressure up if you connect and I think is neutral on block. Also haven't mastered using her QCF+P to its full potential, but it helps make me less predictable since I only have a handful of moves I'm consistent with atm so once I start getting punished on Spiral Arrow I try to do air crossups until I can get V Trigger and use that for a combo opening.

Everyone is keeping me away from 1000 LP & it's starting to hurt my feelings.
just got to 1000 club right now. freaking ps4 pad makes my hand hurt. the triggers has this sharp bit of plastic at the bottom that really digs into my right middle finger.

Holy shit I think the majority of my games right now are either against a Bison or a Necalli.

Hardly ever see Cammy, R.Mika, Karin, Birdie, or Zangief lol. Occasionally I'll get a Ken, Ryu, or Laura in the Bison/Necalli army.

I'm hovering around the 2k LP ballpark. Got to 2.1k something and lost two close matches in a row, then win again and lose again :'(

Surprisingly enough, the DualShock 4 is getting better for me to handle. All the pain I used to get in my left thumb just kinda went away. Helps that the grips are also great.

It seems like not pressing buttons when Ryu is pressuring works much better. Just fought two 2k Ryus back to back and won both matches by being patient, antiairing properly and pressuring from good distance.

Minor, perhaps silly, question but...how the hell do you record or turn on Replays? lol

I see nothing in any of the options and menus and yet other players or friends have a weekend worth of games saved but not quite sure how they did it. lol

Hit Square, go to ranked matches.

1100LP and done. I can't seem to get higher in this beta round.

What does GAF have?

I stopped last night @ about 1200, forget exact #. Had to stop playing but didn't feel I hit a wall or anything. Even if I did, it wouldn't matter. Gotta keep at it---not for LP, mind you. Cuz the game is fun as hell.

PS4 function?

I think most people are using capture cards.

Light tornado, unmashed, is negative 1 or 2, which isn't immediately punishable but you put yourself in a bad position. If you mash, it's worse and definitely punishable.

I'm only ok with him, but I tend to try to keep people out with his fireball, always antiair, and poke with his standing mk. Jab jab light tornado is an ok hit confirm, but it doesn't do much damage. Pressure on wake up with d.fp, sprinkle with throws and overhead.

With his vtrigger, I try to wait until they're semi cornered, and go for the high low mixup. If you time it right so the tornado hits immediately after, you get the juggle into ex kick or super.

Main punish is d.fp -> s.mp xx EX kick into mp tornado (fp tornado if in the corner, ex tornado if you need extra damage).

That's essentially my game plan with him. Haven't found a use for his f.mp move.

yay just perfected a cammy. i don't like playing against her. are birdie chain grabs unblockable or can you just simply block them?

I'm really feeling this roster. I want to play almost all of the characters even if I'm going to be garbage with some of them. Like I knew I'd like Gief and Vega, but then I see Ken's intro and I want to play as him and I'm interested in Mika even though I can't use her at all. Then you get trashed by characters I'd never have any interest at all in like Laura and I want to try her out. And then you see that Chun Li might be good and you want to play as her.

Too many options, and the DLC isn't even out :(

Oddly the only character I have zero desire to play as right now is Dhalsim who I was excited for, I'm gonna wait until other people figure him out and then jump on maybe. I'm not huge on Ryu, Karin, Bison, or Birdie either, but I'm glad they're all here.

just fought a higher ranking ken.. jesus i really got to get my timing down on punishes. kept missing my chances after he kept doing srk's and his other moves.

Okay, I'm gonna calm down for a bit. The highest I got to was 996 LP & now I'm down to 899. All these damn Kens won't let me be great lol. It's way better than the -25 I had in the last beta though, so at least I got a confidence boost out of it. Also, Karin is bae.

Feels like the matchmaking is just getting worse. Only gotten into six matches in the last hour and half of them were against Americans, with the opponent teleporting all over the place. Fix this shit, Capcom.
