Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

All of Laura's anti-airs are just so bad. Well at least she has options even if most suck.



Yeah, it's not always RQers when you get a DC.

I had one. I know he was a Rquitter because I just got finished doing 4 or 5 throws in a row on him mixed up with sweeps he couldn't stop. He was higher rank too so I was scared and went all out, no mercy.

I also won a down to the wire match against a Ryu who had me in the corner and accidentally threw him on wakeup because I forgot to turn off LB and LT on my stick. Felt both good and bad.
 
Guys don't do it to yourself, don't focus on the points. Getting to 2k and then I'm done, getting to 3k and then I'm done. It will NEVER be enough. At this point, just focus on getting good with 1-2 character, particularly ones that are different and get familiar with the entire cast. You should have a fundamental game plan against all match ups.

I hope there's a way to not look at your points or something. I mean, right now is a rare moment people. We can still go toe-to-toe with people like gootecks and infiltration. I mean in a few months they are going to ascend to an even higher pro level but while the game is still largely about fundamentals, we can actually eek out some rounds against top players. Legimagely be in the top 50 or 100. Just embrace the losses and wins equally, the payoff will come.

Yeah I really wish there was a way not to be able to see the points/rank etc.

I'm sort of doing it manually right now and trying not to look, all I know is I'm probably above 1K lol.

What's wrong with her air grab thing?

Her hp bolt charge can trade or even get beaten out by some moves and it only does 60 dmg if you don't get the full animation.

Her jumping normals are pretty decent AA, j.mp has a nice upward angle and comes out quick.

You can kind of use her c. hp as a weird low profile anti-air. It's got hella active frames and you have to do it pretty late but you can beat stuff like Bison's j. hp which stuffs s. lp and s. mp pretty frequently. If you land it they air reset and you can dash under them.

It's slow and I don't got the reaction speed to do it effectively on reaction. It's better for reads than it is for anti-airs. I think you can also be hit out of it, though I'm not sure.

Her st.mk only works for specific spacing and I've been hit out of her st.mp on multiple ocassions.

Thanks for the tips. I've gotten the most use out of her jumping normal for an anti-air so I'll have to try that out instead.

I can't get used to how fast the wake-up is in this game. I'll end a combo or get a throw with Karin and the opponent is already in the air or pressing buttons before I'm there. Mad annoying.

I don't look at the matchup screen, because if you see a player had 3k points, your going to play him different than someone with less that 1k. So I go in blind every match by not looking and taking off that information at the menu during the match.
 
Got to around 1400 lp with 12 win streak and decided I should stop.

I should not have stopped. Went back and lost like 6 in a row and I'm down in the 900's again. Stupid mistakes too, only one was a Dictator that totally bodied me.

If you want to jump in with Gief early j. mk will mess people up. Just make sure you're not being too predictable.

Another Laura anti-air option is you can just v-skill dash forward under jumpins to avoid them and reset neutral. Works great against Claw dives, Bison Headstomps and the like.

You should try dashing forward or backward when you see the jump. If you don't think you can anti-air try to get a better position.
 
Anybody else experiencing the rollback "block" bug?

It's where you hit someone, and you clearly see and hear that they blocked it, but then 10 frames later they're getting hit and you won.

It's pretty disorienting, and not one of my favourite parts of the netkode.

Her AA command grab works better on Gief because his jumps are slower and it's easy to read his jumps when you throw a fireball on him.


If you want to jump in with Gief early j. mk will mess people up. Just make sure you're not being too predictable.

I thought I would be able to play all day too but I start loosing after a while and missing simple moves and combos. I'm all good after a little break though. I guess I have to build up my...attention span or fatigue or something.

I hate it when the opposite happens. I get the hit, confirm it and try to follow the combo, but all of a sudden it shows as if they had blocked and my brain simply lets out a fart.
 
Might've already been asked but how do you prevent going into a random online match when training

I turned it off in settings but it turned right back on when I re-entered training.
